The Death of Chris Henry

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, 1983-2009

On Friday’s show, during coverage of the death of the Cincinnati Bengals’ Chris Henry, I used a Twitter comment posted by Henry’s fellow NFL player, Jay Feely, place kicker for the New York Jets.

Jay Feely had been Tweeting extensively on the case, with comments like this one:

“younger generation needs to learn the lesson that our choices have implications and those implications often entail negative consequences.”

And this...

“I just want people (teammates, etc.) to learn from this tragedy and not put themselves into bad situations. My heart breaks this happened.”

We did not read those comments on the air. However, I did read the following Tweet on the air:

“I reached out to him many times, including in jail, to no avail. His death was not a direct result of past problems but part of the pattern.“

We’ve heard from Mr. Feely that he wasn’t referring to Chris Henry in that Tweet.
In fact, he was commenting about his own cousin who recently died.

CNN DID cover tea party protests!

FOX News: Fair and balanced? Not so sure about that. They took out a full page ad in the Washington Post asking "how did CNN miss this?"... referring to the huge tea party protest September 12 in Washington. CNN did not miss it. CNN covered it. And I've got the proof! I showed you on Friday's show and I'm showing it to you again here. Tell me what you think.

The stranger and the screaming child

Obama-hating PASTOR; death threats against Obama

A pastor in Arizona in a recent sermon said he hates Barack Obama and "wants him to melt like a snail" and die. Worrisome, disturbing and chilling.

And here's the pastor's response:

"I think that Barack Obama should be tried and executed for conspiracy to commit murder. I am an American who is tired of my tax dollars funding abortions and infanticide in the US and other parts of the world. Abortion is murder. God has commanded me as a preacher to preach the entire Bible including the parts that are negative or unpopular. Christians should read the book of Psalms before condemning my statements. I made it clear in my sermon that I am not condoning vigilantism. In the sermon I stated that 'we wrestle not against flesh and blood,' but that rather this is a spiritual battle. However, I do believe that if our government were doing its job, it would carry out justice against those who commit murder or conspire to commit murder, including Barack Obama who has issued executive orders funding abortions in the US and abroad. For example, Charles Manson never physically killed anyone; however, he was given a death sentence for conspiracy to commit murder."

Congressman vandalized by swastika, called "N" word

If you watch my hour of CNN day after day, you've seen us tell it straight in this emotionally-charged debate over health care.

Where diversionary tactics by Republicans are being used, we have pulled no punches. We have told you straight. Where deals are being cut in private, even by the President, we have told you about that as well.

You've also heard us analyze the charges of racism, be they blatant or subtle.

Now comes before us Congressman David Scott, Democrat from Georgia. He arrived at work Tuesday to a swastika painted over his official congressional sign.

Here's some context: last week, the congressman was involved in an angry exchange with a constituent, a doctor who asked a question about health care reform.

The congressman lost his temper.
