Congrats! You deserve the respect of CNN and all the news people for your truth and feedback from all of us. The ONLY newscast that tells it like it is!!!! AND what all Americans are thinking. NO ONE else does this.

Gay Walton   October 29th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

Dear Rick

Happy anniversary, hope its a truly great day for you. I do enjoy your show, but wish you had more hours on the air.

johanna   October 29th, 2009 4:24 pm ET

Hey Rick...Dont forget to teach your kids Spanish this weekend? OK

Selma Miller   October 29th, 2009 4:28 pm ET

Rick, at least you chose to americanize your name. My grandparents had no choice when they came to this country in the early part of the last century. An american name was given to them at Ellis Island. My paternal grandfather's name was changed from Melumed to Miller and my maternal grandfather's name, which was Ferdman, was changed to Freedman.

Shirley   October 29th, 2009 4:29 pm ET

Rick, hope you stay another five years and beyond. I have recently narrowed my CNN watching to just your show. The reason–you're the only one that is altruistic and up-front and does not bore me with "coming up next," loud music, short clips of the news, opinionated pundents, and commercials (this one I understand). Keep up the great work.

Natalie   October 29th, 2009 4:30 pm ET

Wow, congratulations Rick!!! Amazing. Love to hear your great reporting for another 5 years, heck, make it another 20 years at least!!!

Mike Roller   October 29th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

Rick: Congrats on 5 yrs at CNN. I wanted to talk to you in regards to our economy. The American consumer has to only look in the mirror as to why we're in dire straits. Buying Chinese goods only supports the economy of China, and promotes American corporate greed. People should buy American whenever possible, and it doesn't take much work to search out American made goods.
While many Americans look to the government to "create" jobs, what will prevent American companies from outsourcing these newly created jobs? Nothing that I can see. The government should offer incentives to companies to bring those jobs back to America, and keep them here, along with newly created jobs. Keep up the good work. Mike Roller

congrats ricardo. yours is probably my favorite cnn show and a basta lou dobbs, he is as independent as michael steele. he stands out on cnn programming like a loud f##t in a catheral.

as to obama visiting dover airbase, what a moving sight. and how appropriate that he gets to know the butchers bill before sending other men and women to be at the butchers whims. it will give him a perspective that shrub never had on iraq. why does he not just pull troops out of iraq and put them in afghanistan, an eater of empires. raq is mature enough to care for itself, imho so we can leave 60k and still have enough there to contribute. the rest can go home and then go to the afghanpakistan war, as they are one in my perspective, even though the taleban there are discrreet – and why does the taleban think blowing up their countrymen leads to the solution of ANY problem.

thank you for your program. i am in the atlantic time zone, cape breton canada, so i see you at four, then the situation room, then family guy to aoid abastddoobs, then back to the main chance at cnn, prime time. i am on disability recovering from a severe depression, so cnn esta me mucho importante

there is an interesting cape breton story. a young folksinger camping and hiking the cheticamp area on the west coast was killed by coyotes. as i plan to hike there, that is a fearsome story and would make a good piece for your showl. out for fun and nature, killed by wild beasts. sad sad sad

yours in respect, peter h. dohan, md

Your just a puppet or mouthpiece for FOX Light...CNN. Sounds like you condem the Prez for visiting dead Marines??. We never ever seen pictures of Prez Bush doing it, it was PRIVATE?? WTFO? Sounds like you condem Prez Obama for not getting 10 million jobs TODAY!! My Father was a Marine and lived thru the Great Depression, this is just like that great depression. (It will take years and years) It won't end because you said it should or because you say Prez Obama is a liar about the stim plan. Actually we should have a 2nd one.
Your just an overpaid puppet and mouthpiece of FOX light.
Your actually sound a bit like Glenn Beck.....CONDEM!!...CONDEM!!!...CONDEM!!!

Larry Fries   October 29th, 2009 6:00 pm ET

Rick, You elitist, (racest?) twit! You bring to your show a fellow Cuban and criticize Americans for trying to pronounce Spanish proper names. You brag on national TV that you have mastered proper American English AND Spanish without an "accent". That is just bunk! We all know that there are many Spanish accents and colloquialisms. Would you prefer San Peedro or San Padro (San Pedro), Kewba or Kooba (Cuba), Amarilow or Amareeyow (you get it)? Now stop shouting and pass the black beans and rice!

nalon   October 29th, 2009 6:19 pm ET

Great job on the Bob Griese story today!

Living in Miami, I can understand how hard it was to do this story on a man who is a legend and without a doubt a great guy and hero of mine. You walked through a mine field and did it without a hitch! You expressed my feelings exactly.

Jon KIteley   October 29th, 2009 9:15 pm ET

Rick

Congratulations on 5 years. So your an investigative reporter.

Lou Dobbs claims claims "he", his wife and his driver were shot at a few weeks ago. He also links this shooting to his anti-hispanic stance on immigration.

So your an investigative reporter – loyal to CNN – and one of your own was shot at.

Where's the story? Where's the investigation of the facts?

The siding of his home is hit by a single shot from, apparently, a long rifle, near the attic and it "falls to the ground". And Pancho Villa is the chief suspect, or was it Geraldo. And the police claim that in this rural it is very possible that it was a "stray bullet" from target shooting.

Lou Dobbs wasn't even home – the bullet must have narrowly missed him. His wife and driver were out side the home. Were they shooting. His wife was arrested for trying to board a commercial flight with a loaded hand gun in her purse in 2002.

This story doesn't add up. It is pure Dobbsian bias and bull. And what is appalling is the exploitation of this story by Dobbs to once again insinuate that Hispanics are the root of all evil.

Your a grizzled veteran now Rick – big story – investigate it and the outlandish and unsubstantiated linkage Dobbs applies to use this event to promote his tainted ideology. Was it reality or is Dobbs the new "mega balloon boy"? Why did Dobbs apparently, once again, lie in stating that "he" was shot at?

Dobbs is washed up as a journalist. Lou has lost all credibility and is a major liability for CNN who would love to off load him to FOX – but FOX may not be biting.

CNN's silence is deafening!

Question: Does anyone at CNN have the courage to cover this story?

Good Luck Rick

jon

H.B. Gonzalez   October 29th, 2009 10:36 pm ET

I am also from Miami, Hispanic decent, and know Bob Griese well enough to assure you that he is not a racist. It's typical in sports to make fun of each other's decent, shortcomings, etc., which is expected and goes with the territory. Bob just made a mistake and expressed that kind of humor on air. End of story.

Kimberley Walton   October 29th, 2009 11:21 pm ET

Congratulations on your 5th year Rick!
I do so enjoy watching your show- you are certainly not afraid to ask the hard, controversial questions to get at the truth. I respect that; and I like your style. Keep up the great work!

Congrats Rick on five years and hope you are around for many, many more.

A. Smith   October 30th, 2009 12:32 am ET

Congratulations Rick!,

I hope you continue to point out the fallacy's that Fox News entertainers (Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck) spout out of the seat of their pants as if it were the Gospel Truth.

When BillO and Beck talk out of the side of their mouths while attempting to scare the hell out of the viewer in regards to the Hispanic Population growth and the Obama White House, its time for someone in Media News to standup to those bags of hot air.

Keep up the outstanding job as a media reporter,

Enhora buena Senor Ricardo Leon Sanchez..

Congrats Rick! Any chance of your show being shown on CNNasia?

Pastor Dennis   October 30th, 2009 11:04 am ET

After listening to several of his shows, I am convinced that Rush Limbaugh is a racist! I am also convinced that he has his own agenda and could care less about being conservative or their opinions. He acts like he listens (most of the time interrupting), but he interjects his viewpoints which at times can destroy the fibers in the mindset of a minority. I am not a conservative, but a liberal, and believe that everyone should have that freedom, that volition to choose and to be heard. This is what America's principle should be. He (Rush) is trying sway people on his beliefs. I sure hope that he doesn't plan to run in 2012 for our nation's high office. This is my opinion as a Christian Pastor who tries to stir clear of politicians (at least 50 feet) and their viewpoints (unless its Congress where one must listen). Doing a great job Rick (5 years) at CNN! Love your show, AM Fix and Heidi...Cordially, PD

Mike Pewters   October 30th, 2009 11:32 am ET

Please put OUR people to work. We have the energy to tide us over untill we are mostly green. We can create our own good jobs. When I see those youg people out of work I am sick knowing we have the potential jobs here. Health care anyone? How about the billions we spend overseas for energy and war. Develop our energy and we can fund any option. I love this country and know our leaders want the best,, but the level of ignorance and status quo is going to destoy us from within. Love America, Mike.

Ralph   October 30th, 2009 11:54 am ET

Rick,
I wanted to make a comment on health care and illegal immigrants.
I spoke with someone who works for social services in the West Palm Beach-Hobe Sound area, she was telling me she has 18 clients. 17 of those clients are illegal and recieve food stamps, WIC, Medicaid, and a few even recieve Social Security checks. She has made her supervisors aware of their status in our country and nothing has been done. These clients of hers drive around in very nice vehicles, one who even drives a hummer. They say they know exactly how to use the system and feel like it is owed to them. I'm a 3rd generation Mexican-American and feel that something needs to be done about this. IT'S WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do you think?

Countrylady1   October 30th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

Rick, Congrats on 5 years and your show is great.

Craig Patterson   October 30th, 2009 12:41 pm ET

Rick,
Thank you for defending the use of "Americanized" names. This is a tradition that has been in opperation from the early 1800's.

David In Alabama(A.K.A. Snekie1)   October 30th, 2009 12:57 pm ET

Congrats on 5 years Rick!!! Hey are you the one that tried to shoot Lou Dobbs? LOL, just joking. Maybe we can swap recipes for Caribbean Jerk Chicken sometimes, LOL. I like tacos too. You just gotta realized that sometimes people take things too offensively, and take all the humor out of it, leaving us in a world where nobody wants to say anything that might be construed as offensive. Can`t we all get along and have a little fun? Congrats again Rick, I`m a big fan even though we don`t always agree on things

Hector Cartagena   October 30th, 2009 12:58 pm ET

Bravo Senor,
I too have no problem with my name being pronounced in an english manner, Hector Cartagena.
It gets pronounced so many different ways, it doesnt offend me. My name does not make me more or less Puerto Rican, I make myself the Puerto Rican.

Carry on Sir.

Pam Moss   October 30th, 2009 1:33 pm ET

Kudos to you, Rick Sanchez, for your comments regarding the news story involving the hotel owner who asked some of his employees to make their names more easily understood. I applaud you for making the issue so clear - it's simply good business - and I admire your comments on personal patriotism.

Thank you.

Brian   October 30th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Am I missing the point of this story? Im in my 20s and see beyond this as a racist issue. I agree Rick, the older generations need to stop making a big deal outta nothing!

Angel Manuel Diaz   October 30th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Rick, I commend you for defending the hotel owner. Your view is straight and to the point. Your presence on the air waves, visual or audio adds perspective to all arguments of what it means to be American. I believe Lou Dobbs also belongs to be on the airwaves. As for the annunciation of names, I accept making it easier for english pronouncement, but not to be mocked.

Elaine   October 30th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Life in America is becoming ridiculous! No matter is said someone is hurt. Get over it! I am tired of this african american stuff. I don't call myself a portuguese american. I am proud to be an american.

jim in jackson GA   October 30th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Rick, i think the defining truth in the two Catholic schools incident would be whether or not the black kid in the skit was wearing a shroud. if they were representing "black knights" then all would have shrouds. if the black child did not they were rationalizing an attempt to
represent the dominant racial composition of the other school.

Phillip Andrews   October 30th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Rick, this is a disgrace. I'm from New Orleans, and a St. Augustine High School. In 1968, the school was the very first to enter the LHSAA. (Louisiana High School Atheletic Assn.) It is the only black Catholic ALL male high school in the entire country. I'm extremely offended that Brother Martin students would do something like this in 2009.

paulcc   October 30th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

This is regarding the father who ran over his daughter because she had become to "Westernized".

If you blame the guy for what he did, then you have to blame what made him that way. I am talking about his religious teachings and convictions. Where do you think he got them? His religious training taught him he was justified with what he was doing.

Maybe it was his ears that misinterpreted the message but, after seeing this type of action throughout the world, I have got to conclude it is the message that is to blame, or those who are teaching the message.

Come on Muslims, start thinking for yourselves!!

Robert Burns   October 30th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Dear Rick, If a white person dresses as an american indian is that negative or is it a compliment to the american indian race, Large question mark here. It depends on the intent of the person performing the act and the attitude of the recieving person, correct?

Louis Zoellar Bickett II   October 30th, 2009 3:40 pm ET

Rick–If you spoke Spanish in front of people that speak English it would not be 'offensive' as you stated–it would be perhaps rude or insensitive. That is a big difference. Louis Zoellar Bickett II

Mike Johnson   October 30th, 2009 3:41 pm ET

I would like to know why our older generations have to build our kids to be rasisct or maybe have those thaughts for years we asked our children to go beyond it we finally have somne kids doing this and not automaticlly going to the bad place about it and realized it was not rasist to them but got a princable and alumni going to the bad place and teaching it to the kids who have seemed to already be teaching us maybe we should not be going to those thoughts right away?

Donald in CA   October 30th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Rick, i like your program because you are fair and balanced. You also cover subjects that some programs avoid.

Chris   October 30th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Great job Rick but you do need more time. Why don't they take it from that bigot Lou Dobbs?

Greg Noll   October 30th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Rick, I don't think the individual who asked his employee to change their name meant anything against any race of people. What he did is standard business practice. If you do not think I am right, call DELL technical support, HP Technical Support, or most any large online businesses. What you will get is a tech support person in India, and all of them have altered their name to an Anglo sounding name. Is it right...No! But if you are going to address this issue, don't pick on one lone businessman. You will need to address all major US companies that have sent most of their tech support business overseas.

Edward Smith   October 30th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Hi Rick Thanks for your show, However the show(10/30/2009) Black face mask move me in a bad way! Water flows from the top of a hill! These kids were doing what was taught to them. Why only wear a mask and not a whole out-fit. One could go a long way with purple knights! I feel like you know this and is just holding back!

Web Editor   October 30th, 2009 3:50 pm ET

Rick, You didn't just ditch Ricardo – you've anglicized the pronunciation of Sanchez, which I have a problem with, even while I recognize it's your own name. As an Anglo West Texan, I grew up respecting the basic pronunciation of Span-lang last names, and I don't see why we can't all do that. Instead of making bad behavoir okay for your collegues, you should be telling them why they have to pronounce the a the way it's correctly pronounced.

If you weren't a Spanish speaker, I wouldn't hassle you. But how can you stand to hear yourself mispronouncing your own name?

June Neufeld   October 30th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Am home ill today and enjoying your program...as a teacher I say...please...it's normal for children to have difficulty thinking things through...most do not have the ability to see consequences down the road...both principals did a great job of using the incident as a teachable moment...why don't you have this group of young people on your program? Ask them..."What exactly was your intent and what were you thinking?" "Knowing now what you know, how can you fix this?" etc. Their answers will no doubt surprise you...in a positive way! Take care and have a good day!

Linda Gutgsell   October 30th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

I Love your show. About the hotelier in Taos...I personally am just as offended when I go into a nail salon and the Vietnamese are conversing in their native tongue. By the way, I live in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Gordon Pannu   October 30th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Hi Rick,
love ur show. I am an Indian businessman. I speak English,Punjabi and Hindi fluentaly. I am learnig French and Spanish also. I have many different language speaking customers and I am always glad when they greet me in their language and glad to oick up new words. I have always gone by name of Gordon as opposed to Gurinder(this is by choice) to make it easier for others(when in Rome do as the Romans). But I have learned to pronounce other names as they are.I like it and respect people that doen't want to make their names shorter etc.(their choice).

Gordon

Dear Sir Please check out reports from Abilene, Texas KTAB News for more info about the motel owner who required his employees to Americanize their names etc. Think you will have your eyes opened to the truth.

angie in Sonoma County Ca.   October 30th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Everyone just needs to breath in deeply and exhale! Lighten up on that hotel owner in Arizona! Here in our very community we have an independent grocery chain owner who is from China. He has been very successful for 40+ years. He has always asked his Asian employees to change their name tags to more Anglo sounding names. He has also asked Anglo staff whom share names (i.e. Susan & Susan) to use a middle or nickname, so shoppers do not feel awkward in identifying employees. He also has a lot of Latino staff as we are in a heavy their names that are hard to pronounce. Regarding speaking Spanish, German, Italian, French or whatever...when there are people in and around you in a workplace setting, it is polite to speak English. Why? Why not? Are you saying something that you don't want other folks to understand? If so the workplace may become a hostile environment, simply because those that are not bilingual may interpret that something rude is being said about them.
Don't we have enuff freakin' conflict in this world already? Luv U CNN

John Duron   October 30th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

I have been going to Cuba for 17 years.
I disagree with your opinion on the blockade.
It is what gives Castro power.

MN MIke   October 30th, 2009 3:59 pm ET

You know i sit here and watch all the topics on the show and often get frustrated at the narrow minded behavior exhibited by people across the Nation......If the guy asked to call him Martin instead of Marti'n is that really much different than shortening a long first name or shortening a last name ie mine...Tazelaar... everyone shortened it and call both my father and myself...Taz...granted there might be more goin on than what I am seeing but hey.. lets get back to basics. This day and age everyone is fighting for their own survival but doesnt it seem more logical that there is safety in numbers? Is it also more logical to look at ourselves as one big family so to speak? We need to drop our defenses and preconcieved notions of personal success and look to bring everyone around you with on the journey.

Alan   October 30th, 2009 4:06 pm ET

Hi Rick,

In Canada, we celebrate ethnic diversity and the result is a mosaic of exciting cultures under the Canadian banner.

In the US, folks of diverse ethnicity are expected to assimilate instantly on arrival on US soil. I applaud the US for the patriotism of its citizens, but the US should embrace the Canadian model...assimilation takes place in the second generation and beyond...one does not have to demand this because it is a natural process.

What intrigues me is the "labels" that the US puts on ethnic groups: African American, Asian American etc. What's wrong with AMERICAN?
In Canada a Canadian is a Canadian.Period.

The US has to overcome its racist history and demonstrate to the international community that its policies, domestic and international are not racially driven.

angelo tolentino   October 30th, 2009 4:06 pm ET

Rick,
This controversial issue about masks is as absurd as resorting to using a clear mask so that it would not be offensive to some overly sensitive people or people who just want to be contentious...

Kooldoff   October 30th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Dear Ricardo, There is nothing wrong with your name. Just be yourself and people will love and admire you for what you really are. There an old african saying that says " No matter long the tree trunk has been in the river it will never become a crocodile".

Harry   October 30th, 2009 4:19 pm ET

Rick,
OK, I think the guy damanding a name change was totaly wrong.
My name Harry is: Heinrich (German), Henry (French), Garry (Rusian),
Enriche( Spanish), and so on. Even so I will like to be called by name my parents gived to me.
And my questions to you are:
1.If some non hispanic speaking people will demonstrate in front of a business establishment, in a mostly other demographic than latino, thay wil be entaiteled do do so or will be racist ?
2.If several hundreds latino, will penetrate the border ln some place with flags and banners demanding to be accepted with all the legal rights, because many before them entered, but now was created a critical political mass, and the life in their country is very hard with crime and poverty, they shall be let in ?
I was taking sweveral guys working in my plant to a job. They were talking between them sanish, and from time to time I was hearing "gringo", which I belive is a derogatory name. Can explain to them that is not polite to exlude people around, and this attracts adversion and not friendship. Is any one looking for frienship with a gringo ?

jim in jackson GA   October 30th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

Rick,
I read the entries on the blogs and see racists both white and brown who do not even know or believe they are unjustly biased.
No other person has the right to judge you for the personal value system you possess or the way you choose to represent yourself.
A great philosopher was once asked by a lady of 'Blue-blood' distinction who his ancestors were; to which he replied "Madam!, I am my ancestors."
Prejudice normally is taught in the home. It has diminished over the years due to greater social inter-action between the races and cultures;especially in the younger children. This is generally good; but unfortunately the younger generations also miss the beneficial lessons of history (which, if forgotten it's been said, will be repeated) . Young minorities are not taught about the struggle their ancestors like Ceaser Chavez and Martin Luther king Jr. fought so they could have the equality promised in the Constitution of the United States of America. The reason for the blockade was just; but it did not do what was intended to the point of affecting necessary change. It certainly separated a lot of families. Irregardless, there are those who believe that we are at a juncture in history where an Olive branch can affect and change the political structure of Cuba in a positive manner.
And those who feel that overlooking the insensitivity of youngsters, be it overt or covert will have to answer for possible hate crimes in the future. Black face today might progress to a Hangman's noose tomorrow. The insensitivity may have been accidental, and a teaching lesson could be in order. I too like the idea of having the boys involved on one of the CNN shows.
Keep up the good work Rick, and don't let the turkeys get you down........

Maryjane   October 30th, 2009 5:22 pm ET

Why do some (not all) African-Americans get sooo easily upset when white or brown folks try to portray being black (wearing costumes or what not)? Yet, so many Black women especially, try to look less Black or ethnic by getting plastic surgery to get their noses smaller, wear green or other colored contact lenses, dye and straightened their hair, wear weaves and extensions...all to look less of who they really are. It's funny whenever I hear Black women say that black is beautiful, black is back....yet they are not all that proud to show their true colors. I guess being black is not all that, or as one of my African-American girlfriends always say, I'm proud to be black...but not THAT black. One last thing, it's always been my observation that African-American men are more proud and true to their word than their women counterparts. Why is that?

Oliverio Andoresbarro   October 30th, 2009 6:16 pm ET

Rick Sanchez: This is America, the free. America is free with a mixture of all languages of all people. We are in are hearts, Americans. Accordrding, we the American people are free to learn and speak all languages. We do not leave ourselves in the nation of origin, come to be as we are Americans. In school, we can learn and speak other languages. We must respect other languages as a matter of freedom and intelligence in America. I respect the names of others, and will restructure my thinking to relearn; I want others to do the same toward me. As a note in history, insalved Africans were forced to not speak their languages and change their names.

I am born in Kansas, 1941, and studies include UCLA

Dwayne Lucas   October 30th, 2009 6:37 pm ET

Congrats, Rick on 5 successful years on CNN. I love the way you turn the minority races against the White Trash that should go back to Europe. And the way you made Bob G. lose a weeks pay for making a joke about a taco. Had he said that the QB from West Virginia U. was holding the football like a piece of greasy fried chicken, I'd have probably broke down and cried...not...just laughed. And so would've my Mexican Father-in-Law. Who picked Calif. fruit as a child, but eventually retired from the AMERICAN Army. Thats why he wouldn't teach his children Spanish at all. He told me that they were Americans. They didn't come from Mex., like he did. He is a very proud Patroit. I am also proud of you for not say anything about the Quizno Hillbilly Hottub commercial; with 2 dirty MEN taking a bath together, outside, in a regular bath tub, with a fire built under the tub. Now the reason that I respect you is that if it was the Ghetto hottub, with 2 dirty Black men, etc...or the Barrio Tub with Latinos,...etc. you'd have been all over that story. Keep up the good work and the minorities will always hate the Whites. The only thing I have against minorities, being one myself, is that they are all crybabies. If they weren't,; racism would hardly exist. Then you might be out of a job. So......can't really blame you. Keep up the good work and you might have the joy of inciting actual violence against the Indian killers. I hope you have at least 10 more years. Good Luck!

Hi Rick, I would like to comment on the Muslim father who ran with a car over his daughters, and the gentleman who said he as a Muslim father should do that. No Rick, this is not the Islam I know; this is the about the father's culture. As a Muslim father I know that the Prophet Mohamed had daughters and his relationship with them was very decent especially Fatima. The Prophet bequeathed us to be merciful with, and one of the first things that Islam stopped was the killing of the new born female. To dishonor the family can be done by both female and male. Why only the female is the one to be held responsible for the dishonor? I have been living in the USA for long time now, and I'm a Muslim but whatever is good things from the West I adopted and proud of it. What is not good I just stayed away from it. Moreover, the same thing with our culture what is good I adopted, and whatever not I just dropped it. I did teach my daughter the same thing; I explained to her what Islam is, and what culture is. But Islam is different from the culture, and the same thing for you happened with the Latinos' culture I'm sure. These people are entitled to express their opinion, but not their unacceptable acts. This is my own opinion.

Only One Health Care Solution

Both the Congressional Budget Office and the General Accounting Office have concluded that a proven single payer health care system would provide affordable health care for all Americans without any additional costs. Numerous studies performed by unbiased groups have concluded that a single payer system will give us better medical service than our present insurance system.

If the Whitehouse and the Congress could just give up their big business contributions and favors we could get affordable universal health care plus save 45,000 lives each year for those that currently cannot afford to purchase insurance.

Our current HMO health care insurance system has devastated U.S. health care for the working class, but it would be a mistake to allow the same insurance companies to control an expansion of the same system as proposed by Congress.

Rick in the report about the racial (?) skit of the shrouded teens you mentioned that one of them WAS black. I think (correctly) he IS still black.

Also, you credited Yogi Berra with the "curiouser and curioser..." comment. Actually, it was Alice (in Wonderland).

I don't know if you prepare your own material or there is a support staff, but either way someone needs to edit and do their homework.

Hey Rick, I have been following the whole ethnic name controversy and you are right on the money. Too many PC people weighing in on this. Good for you and for standing up on this issue. My name is Bill and I spend a lot of time in Costa Rica and have learned when I am there, to always try and speak spanish and introduce my self as Memo because it shows them that I respect their culture and want to be easy to work with. Plain old common sense and they react as one would expect. They appreciate the effort and bring me in to their fold.

I love Your show, but please don't let Drew host it agin. He is too negative and always (not some of the) trying to steer the story in a negative direction (e.g. H1N1 & MJ) . No more days off if Drew is the only replacement available!

Riccardo,

You're a joke. Your show is obviously biased and slanted and not much use to the public of "fair and balanced" opinion. It might be best if you just dropped off the air. Glenn Beck and the people at Fox news own you. And do you think Rush Limbuagh would actually respond to a request by you to speak on your dumb show?

consider this(mobius project) How does stephen halkin's computer translate his thoughts(chemically produced electronic impulses) into words .Do not accept the initial explaination at face value. Scrutinize it. scenario 1;subject A's auditory cortex and/or assoiation cortex transferred into ultra high frequency sound waves transmitted into subject B's auditory cortex equals subject B's hearing voices. scenario 2: subject A's auditory and/or association cortex transferred into U.H.F. transmitted to B's association cortex results in a thought identified by B as their own. Scenario 3: The thought identified as B's (as in scenario 2) is transferred (via halkin computer tech.) into U.H.F. and transmitted to subject C's computer, who holds subject B accountable for that thought. Consider this: can the hypothalamus be stimulated by similar means to enhance (fight or flight) subject B's thought process. I beg you to investigate assertively. start here; where is Russel Ferstandig?

Rick,

I was pleased with the statement you made regarding Americanizing your name. Your comment on respecting a country that had given you so much (paraphrased) was heartwarming. Thank you for having the courage for stating what may have been politically incorrect.

Sincerely,

Muchas felicidades en tu 'show' Ricardo!

1. We need healthcare with public option.

2. The Cuban Embargo is ridiculous, Cuban-Americans are supporting Castro's Regime with the millions upon millions of dollars & goods sent to their relatives in Cuba every year!

AMERICA: Do NOT allow the HATERS to take over our Nation! We are a Nation of Immigrants, the ONLY REAL Americans are the Native-Americas!

Hey Rick

You are the greatest. We need more than a 1 hour program. Why does Wolf have to be on so long?? You are the easiest person to listen to and we enjoy you immensely.

Tell your bosses we need you longer than 1 hour a day...

Would like to ask the GOP, the GOP tell us that a Public Option is not a good program because the Goverment can not run it. The question is, who is the Goverment? aren't they the Goverment? It's a sad day when they the GOP tell us that they can not form and control a Public Option, they should GET OUT OF OFFICE so that those that are able to do the job can enter into office.

victor Trimmer   November 9th, 2009 11:23 pm ET

To: Ed Pressman,
Do you mean stop spending on the wars. Or things that helps Americans like you and I that might have been affected by these hard times.

I 'm certain your dad must be very proud – you turned out o.k. – following his rule. My mom had a similar expression, although very Italian, pretty close to your dad's: "Dimmi con chi stai e ti diro chi sei" – translated: "tell me who you associate with and I'll tell you who you are" – pretty close to the motto you cited your dad wanted you to live by – it holds true – Congratulations!

Please, please you can't say it often enough o loud enogh, OUR COUNTRY IS BEING SOLD TO OUR CONGRESSMAN. Why is so few of you who have the courage enough or are honest enough (very few) to keep our country free. This is the reason of the terrible anger we are all feeling and don't know how to let out the rage we are feeling and have no outlet. I had such faith in our new President and already he has brokjen most of his most important promises. Let us know whoto folllow except you and Bill Moyers Journal. God Bless and keep you. Our country desperately needs you now more that ever!

GOooooooooo Rick!

Thank You!!!

I am so happy you confronted that so called Reverend Phelps! He was outrageous....... protesting a funeral in which the family was trying to morn their son's death due to war and those idiots had signs stating: God Hates America!

We are definitely a country in rage! Very scary!

Jan Lancaster   November 11th, 2009 4:57 pm ET

Earlier today you mentioned the frustration that the public feels toward elected officials in Washington.....The reason for the frustration is that we all know that big corporations (lobbyists) are running our government through monetary "contributions." My suggestion to remedy the situation is to force Congress to establish term limits of two terms no matter what the office, then they go back home and work in the community that elected them in the first place. If they are not so bound by thoughts of glorious re-election for the next 45 or 50 years, they just might honestly represent the people from their districts, especially if they are going to have to depend on those same folks for their livelihood once they have served their two terms.

I used the term "force" above because that is exactly what the American people would have to do to get Congress to give up the gravy train.

The President has term limits, most governors if not all have term limits, even a director on an organization's board of directors has term limits. Why does Congress think that it is above this??? The purpose of the two term limit is to allow new ideas to come into the oversight of the organization and to prevent the manipulation of the organization by one particular viewpoint. (In this case, big corporations). I for one am ready for some new ideas out of Washington. I watch the news coverage of political events and the whining and pouting makes me think of a fifth grade bully. "I want my way no matter who it hurts or whether or not it is the best thing for our country. "

I remember in years past the comment from Congress when term limits were brought up. It was, "We won't be able to get anything done." Outrageous! All they do is pout and argue now. How in the world could it be any worse? As partisan as Congress is , my guess is that they would instantly band together against term limits. Usually what Congress is against, is what is best for the country. How about helping me start a campaign for term limits??? We might actually end up with fair and honest representation in Washington! Wall Street and the banks could use all that money to actually do some good in this country.

The problem with co-ops is the start up costs. If the initial expenditure is subsidized by the government the taxpayer would pay as much or more during the early stages of the implimentation of the reform than the public option would require. However the cost to us would drop off dramatically thereafter.Compitition is increased and the government is out of the healthcare buisness. P.S. shared consciencness is a beautiful thing.

The illimination of the moderate Republicans by the far right has encouraged the Democrates to move farther to the left. Polarization continues to increase. Painting a room with a roller AND a brush has now become painting a room with a roller OR a brush.I've become a moderate extremist.

The 9/11 trials being held in criminal court, and the rights that they afford the defendants, will make the inevitable claim by Al-Queada of discrimination by the U.S. toward all Muslims less credible. Muslims who are on the fence between extremism and moderation will be less likely to fall off on the Islamist side.
For those who minimize the importance of world opinion, keep this in mind. Afganistan is a symptom of the disease.
The president is searching for an end game to that war before he commits to sending more troops.
These three factors are inextricably intertwined.
We won't win the war on terror untill the militant extremists are alienated from the larger Muslim population, by that same larger Muslim population.
