An apology from Congressman Joe Wilson is an insignificent jesture considering his rude and boorish behavior last evening during the presidential speech. His resignation from Congess should be demanded.

This behavior should not be tolerated. he should have been escorted from the room immediately.

As far as I am concerned this is another nail in the coffin of the GOP.

Ben Salisbury   September 10th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

Hi Rick: Enjoy your show every day. I'm not surprised to see your report of our law makers being in the pockets of big business. What is astounding is the dollar amounts that they are getting. There is no way after accepting these dollars that they can vote in the interests of the voters. Would you email me the web page of your scouces as fo who and what amounts these people are getting. I want to check on what my representatives are possibly pocketing. Keep up the good work. Ben Salisbury

Rick, I was just watching your show and would love to appear as a guest on your show what is the contact info

Hi Rick:
Was it a long 365 days? I watched the first day you were on. I like the way you think. I like the way you get your guest to open up..
I know you will be at CNN years to come. of course your choice.
Thanks,

Diana

Over the past year I became a real fan of your show and have taken to recommending people tivo it and watch it at night if they can't see it live. I will no longer watch and will correct my previous statements to others. Take a look at the vitriolic misogynistic things Perez Hilton said about the former Miss California after she answered his question and then tell us again how important it is to respect others who may disagree with you. I personally don't agree with or support Ms. Prejean's views but she has a right to an opinion, which she gave in a respectful manner. Apparently Mr. Hilton does not support the First Amendment or believe in treating others with respect. He doesn't particularly care if what he writes is true, only that it's outrageous. You betrayed your lack of commitment to basic journalistic principles when you made him a guest on your show. I won't be tuning in again.

Mike   September 10th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

Hello Rick,

I think that Mr. Wilson's behavior was inappropriate and he should be removed. The amount and pitch of disingenuous data that is being used by the GOP to kill this reform is a crime. We have laws on the books for this behavior that deal with slander and libel, simply process this idiot.

Jean   September 10th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

Hi Rick:

I wa searching for those jokes which crossed my mind. Your program is over and you may very well be on your way home. As serious as this might be it is worth a smile. Taken from a book of laughter which I got some years ago and which reminded me of the Health Care Reform ever since as I heard that previous US Presidents were trying to institute HC in the US, the latter President Clinton but were unsuccessful. I ask myself what is wrong with some Americans that they oppose HCR. Among many other jokes these should hit home for the Americans who who do not have HC. Here are they:

A man frantically rushed into a hospital emergency room with two broken arms. He ran up to the nurse at the desk and shouted, "I need a doctor!" The nurse calmly nodded and said, "Before we treat you, I have to know one vital fact." "I'm not allergic to penicillin," cried the man. "My heart is fine and I'm not on any medication." "That's good," said the nurse, "but that's not the information I need." "What is it then?" shouted the man, grimacing in pain. The nurse replied, "Do you have medical coverage or will you pay cash?"

Another one:

The old doctor had never refused a call, from rich or poor-but now he was tired. "Have you any money?" he asked a midnighht caller. Certainly he had money. "Then go to the new doctor. I'm too old a man to get out of bed for anybody who can pay for it."

Those jokes are true. If HC is established no one will be refused medical care, just as President Bush said: "No child left behind." Food for thought.

I do wish that President Obama will be successful in establishing Health Care Reform. It is not easy convincing everyone that a National Health Care System is of vital importance and beneficial to every American, rich or poor.

Rick,

I love your show ... probably get tired of hearing that but you report the unbiased news and that's hard to find.

Today, Sept 10th, you were talking with a member of Congress about the top 5 donations to Grassley and McConnell from the health Industry, lawyers, pharmaceuticals etc and were quoting these numbers from a web site – I didn't get that site Secret ?? Could you give me the site please.

Thanks again for your program – it's a keeper.

your coverage of P-Obama speech this AM – was great !!! I havent been a CNN viewer but I am now . . . At least your program !! Will start watchin other times too . . .
You brought clarity to the Health Care alien issue – as did da Wolf. OMG our Congress/Senators dont get it . . . Thanks for the coverage of our (shameful) ex-pres also . . . all these people have "their" opinion – but they just are not intelligent (look up defination – has nothing to do with degrees, etc.)
Please follow your news stories – as you have promised – thank you !!

i am a retired general surgeon after 40 years in solo practice. i watched your show today, especially the concern that mr. obama,s health bills would cover illegal aliens.physcians have always been required by the hippocratic oath to treat everyone regardless of financial status or citizenship. by law for many years, physicians, hospitals and hospital personnel have been required to treat everyone arriving in the emergency department. many hospitals require medical staff to back up the emergency dept. and treat everyone refered to them. i was director of and worked in a trauma center for 9 years, and we treated everyone. it would be nice for a change if someone thought about compensating medical personnel and hospitals for their free services.

kirstenf.   September 10th, 2009 5:07 pm ET

After hearing and seeing these people who feel that Obama is leading us into communism, and they wanted to censor his speech to children, well isnt that a communist act by wanting to censor what we see? This is America and we are supposed to be a nation of educated tolerant openminded people!Where are they?

bill thompson   September 10th, 2009 5:19 pm ET

i am a retired general surgeon, after 40 years in solo practice. i have been following the health care reform debate, especially the concern about medical malpractice reform. in 1975, the major insurance carriers were no longer writing malpractice coverage in california, and physicians were leaving the state in droves. we obtained state legislation, called micra, which put a cap on "pain and suffering" awards, but made no limits on out of pocket costs to patient who were victims of malpractice. physician-owned insurance carriers were established, i was involved for many years with such a a company, called scpie, and chaired its claims committee. this legislation saved medical practice in california. i was a patent attorney and worked in the pharmaceutical industry in previous lives.

Dont let Glen Becck be right. Someone at CNN cover the ACORN prostitute scandal and video. If you dont cover it you are wrong. It is news.

Proud Independent   September 10th, 2009 5:34 pm ET

Rick, I want to share your segment from today on the lobbying issue–this is a crucial issue to our country. I cannot find it anywhere–why would you post dumb Perez Hilton instead of something important like your earlier segment? How can we find it to share on FB?

Dale S.   September 10th, 2009 6:05 pm ET

Rick, – How many more self-avowed, well-known communists, like Bernie Sanders, will you "play" footsies with and act like you're OK with his philosophy of government?

Johanna   September 10th, 2009 6:07 pm ET

It saddens me to see how easy it is for our leaders, we have chosen to represent us, have forgotten to follow all the same rules that we strive so hard in this day and age to teach our children. What happened to respect? Now I see why our young people find it so easy to disrespect their elders- we are teaching them first had. Prime example Congressman Joe Wilson disrespectful outburst. Wow I'm thinking I would not want to be a guest at his dinner table–his children just might call me a "LIAR" for no apparent reason. The apple doesn't fall to far from the tree you know.

Herman   September 10th, 2009 6:10 pm ET

1st of all , how does Obama plan on keeping Illegals away from our health care system , all one needs to do is get sick , go to the emergency room of any hospital , say you can't pay and have no insurance and your ass is sent to a public hospital , like Cook County here in Chicago. Or do these hospitals now charge for thier services to any one who can't pay even illegals ?
Health care has run away because of the thounsnds of crooks on all 4 sides of the fence , Insurance companies , quack dr's that will over bill and do fraud , politicians that for a few bucks to get re elected will turn thier heads to the tru needy onesand of course us the public , who do not want to admit that they make enough money under the table to be taken off public aid, or the thes that cliam to be disabled and are bamboozling Social security to get medicaid.
Every day thousands are getting free medical , because Social security does NOT either the persoal or the means to investigate , thses fraud claims. So it is easier to let those secrew the GOVERMENT (us) and wrap up thousands of dollars on medical bills that should not be , then to hire investigators to stop this health madness.

On another , front Rick , why is it that you as aproud American as you claim to be , have not reached out to help , assist , or in anyway , serve your country by joining the Military. That yellow stripe on your back should not keep you form serving , after all you could be assigned to Stars and Stripes as a writer , and you would not have to be afraid at all , any more about being hurt , unless a fellow reported was to shoot you with a paper clip.

Jennifer De La Jara   September 10th, 2009 6:16 pm ET

One question that needs to be explored is if undocumented residents will not be covered under the new plan, then how will they go about getting healthcare? Right now many who do not have insurance go directly to the emergency room for any healthcare need (including going into labor) where they receive an emergency status to get their claim declared under Medicaid. So if the new plan doesn't cover them, then will they continue to go to the emergency room which is one of biggest problems right now anyway with regards to high cost?

Hey Rick, I live in Atlanta and I want a tour of CNN and the opportunity to appear on your show. I thought you'd repeat the address again during the show but you didn't. Shoot me an email man and let me know how I can occupy that seat like Perez Hilton. With the down economy I can use the opportunity to promote my small business!

craig casey   September 10th, 2009 7:51 pm ET

Hey Rick,
Maybe you should have been covering the Acorn scandal in Baltimore
instead of smugly commenting on Rep WIlson's outburst or cozying up to
Perez Hilton. You wonder why CNN is in the ratings pit?
It should be embarrassing to you and others that Rush & others like him
have you guys nailed so completely; that you will ignore stories like the Acorn hidden camera thing which we all know you were familiar with by 3PM and the Van Jones thing which is the tip of the socialist iceberg with this "president"
Craig

alexlyrics   September 10th, 2009 7:58 pm ET

What a disrespectful southern racist person Joe Wilson is. I would hope that he is voted out of office.
Secondly, every republican who has spoken sense that speech has repeated nothing but the same points that both democrat, and republicans agree on.
Republicans are repeating the parts of the bill that everyone agrees on, and not one has mentioned compromise, or an attempt to work with on the points that they don’t agree on.

Lobbyist have clearly paid off Republicans.

Rick you had Parez Hilton on, man, you are truly going Hollywood.
Well join the crown, move on over and start making movies.

mike doty   September 10th, 2009 8:20 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez, Until yesterday, I considered you just another "talking corporate head" selling the corporate message. After your interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I think you may be one of the few "journalists" left on main stream media.
I was amazed, if, by nothing else, your courage in tackling the story of the case presently before the SCOTUS. The one that will allow the wealthiest international corporations to buy our politicians, legally. Also your willingness to broach the subject of "publicly financed elections" was proof of your journalistic integrity. I would love to see you cover the SIBEL EDMONDS transcripts (shown at bradblog.com) and give that your unique analysis, this would be a great continuation of our need for publicly financed elections. Thank You for giving me hope for the MSM.

* To the person that wants Joe Wilson kicked out of congress:
did you have the same zeal when John Kerry said "our soldiers were terrorizing women and children" in Iraq? When Dick Durbin accused us of being like nazis and soviets with our gulags? Do you also support the expulsion of Charlie Rangel for being a tax cheat? Nancy Pelosi for using taxpayer's moneys to set up her own private airline?Or is your rage saved only for a guy who called a liar a liar?

alexlyrics   September 11th, 2009 12:51 am ET

RE: to cousin ART from Texas
I see your real brave hiding behind your comments and being afraid to use your real name.
On CNN it was proved that the bill sec 3200 clearly states that no illegal or undocumented persons will benefit from any coverage under the bill.
So wear your white sheets, and march with your 500 kkk tea “pettiest.”
In the end good will conquer your evil, and the bill will pass, and Obama will reign 8 years.
Black is beautiful isn't it cousin art?

Long live Obama
He is truly our robin hood, taking back from the rich, and giving to the poor. Those senate and congressman against Obama, are just pissed because they can’t buy access to him.
For the first time in our nations history we have a president who cannot be bought. Obama meant what he said the buck stops here, and the money from corporations and special interest has to stop. Look at what it has done to our government.

What is your thoughts about ACORN and the news about them on 9/10/09. I watched some of your program today and didn't see you say anything about the issue.

Arthur Ramos   September 11th, 2009 3:33 am ET

Hey Rick,

Acorn is up to no good again at the tax payers expense. CNN's website is using the term "allegedly" in the article of the latest scandal and they refuse to show the faces of persons at Acorn who where caught in the act trying to help a fake prostitute and her fake to pimp buy a house so they could start a brothel using underage girls from El Salvador.

What do you think of CNN's half-ass reporting of the serious matter.

David Riley   September 11th, 2009 3:37 am ET

In March,2006, I had a spinal fusion of L-3, L4, L5, and S-1. I was fortunate enough to have major medical insurance and my out of pocket expenses were just a few hundred dollars. Four months later, a titanium screw broke and the surgeon removed all the hardware and sewed me up. The donor grafts did not have time to take leaving me with lots of pain and limited mobility. Two years later, I was given disability and Medicare,"government run health insurance" My out of pocket costs for my "re-fusion" was less than $50 with my prescriptions costing a staggering $2. Seems to me the boys got it right. They are not keeping records on me or tapping my phone. There is a conspiracy theorists behind ever tree.

Nicholas   September 11th, 2009 8:07 am ET

Hello Rick,
No outburst against the President should be tolerated. Period. None what so ever. Bush was in office for 8 years, and most of the country hated him. But no one made an outburst like that while he was saying a speech. Where was the Secret Service? Why didn't this Trouble Maker / Rabble Rouser get escorted out of the building? why did the Secret Service tolerate this? They did not even approach the man, but let him sit right down there and be comfortable. Wilson should have been removed immediately.
It's coming to light now, all of the hatred and prejudice of having a Black President is coming to light. They are just using the "Health Care Bill" as an excuse to attack the President. The bottom line is hatred and prejudice that he is in office. The whole healthcare opposition and his speech to the school objection, is just an excuse to be vicious, mean, vindictive, and corrupt "RACISTS". You ask me if racism is still alive in america, and I tell you "Yes it is".

Thousands upon thousands of Iraqi's die every week. Women children and men. By the hands of US Soldiers and The ridiculous Private Security Forces from Haliburton, Brown and Root, and Dick Chaney. This is no lie. Iraq is in a police state. They have a curfew, they have no running water in some places, no food, no jobs, no freedom. How would you like someone to come to your state and put you in a Police State, where you could be shot down by a soldier for any reason whatsoever. You cannot enjoy any freedom that you have today. Wake up! The US is making the people of Iraq lives a living hell. People are suffering and dieing, and it is all becuase the US has taken over th country. Related to Rep. Wilson's outrageous behavior during the president's speech. I can't help but wonder if the president was white, would Rep. Wilson had behaved differently. Just wondering!!??

SuzDuJour   September 11th, 2009 7:26 pm ET

I know Dems are thinking of voting to admonish Joe Wilson. Maybe they should just dress him in eye-patch underwear and have Mike Duvall spank him. You know, the traditional right-wing family values punishment…

Tony   September 11th, 2009 9:56 pm ET

I have not seen anything reported on CNN about the ACORN videos where they encourage a prostitute to bring under age iligalas to turn them into prostiturtes. Maybe that story is not as interesting as someone telling Obama hes a liar.

Rick,

Regarding Serena's $10,000 fine. What an insult to tennis. Mary Carillo said it best. She should have been banned from playing in the doubles and other grand slams to show her that she must respect the line's people. The fine only sends a "bad" message to other players that may think they can do the same and can get away with it. Serena's "TRUE COLORS" finally came out!!!!

Roger Paulo   September 14th, 2009 4:14 pm ET

Serena & Kanye West need to get together

Allahdad Nazif   September 14th, 2009 9:34 pm ET

Rick, you're absolutely right. It doesn't matter one lick if Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and every other leading Democrat called George Bush a liar or even worse, like Congressman Wilson did. Fairness is not important here. What is important is that we make sure, no matter what, that Barack Obama's presidency is a successful one because Barack Obama is our first African-American president. Personally, I'm willing to swallow Socialism, Marxism or whatever you want to call it whole, even tolerate a self-professed communist like Van Jones in Barack's administration, forced unionization, elected politicians deciding what I can eat or what I can drive or how long I can live , a lower standard of living, really strong affirmative action and the opening of our borders so that Democrats can rightfully replace many of us with more reliable Democrat voters. I don't care, I just want Barack to be the most successful president this racist nation has ever had. That's all I care about, Rick. I don't even care about my own children and their future as much as I care that Barack is a success. I mean it. Barack is our light, Rick, and he will lead us to a higher plain and a better way of being.

Scott   September 15th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Way to go Rick on clearing up the Joe Wilson situation! BRAVO!

David   September 15th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

All of the negitive words about the propossed changes to health care and about the President are said by the CCC. In our past history the KKK was very popular in some parts of our country but that has been over taken by the CCC the Christian, Conservative Caucasians. This grassroots group includes many people who will not accept that we have a black President and do not have the guts to come forward and hide in shadows or play word games. Remember the KKK hid behind bed sheets and white hoods

Greg Strand   September 15th, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez,

This is my first time contacting you and I don't know if I'm doing this in the right place, but "Would Kanye West have done the same thing if Mary J. Blige had won the award instead of Taylor Swift?

Bill Korda   September 15th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Rick: Why aren't you reporting on the ACORN scandal? FOX has reported it. What are you hiding?

Kathy   September 15th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Serena should have been fined for her outburst but I can name a few other Tennis player that cursed and broke rackets in the past. What were their punishment? I think the punishment should be equal.

Sharon Holloway   September 15th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Rick,

First let me say I like President Obama and voted for him! However, the continuing assault on Mr.Wilson's mistake is getting out of hand. He made a mistake! We have all made mistakes! Why are all caucasians
suddenly racists because we make an error in judgement! Everyone else is allowed the freedom of speech! Mr. Wilson made a mistake! He said he was sorry! Lets move forward!

Dan Riordan   September 15th, 2009 4:15 pm ET

What an awful Sanchez LIE about Wilson!

The Prezident is a 'typical politician', a WEASEL.

He knows that the bill says no persons ILLEGALLY in the USA shall get the coverage.

HE ALSO KNOWS that the illegal aliens are SOON TO BE MADE L-E-G-A-L via the AMNESTY that the Dumb-as-craps are cooking up for them.

So, once made LEGAL, Sanchez knows, as well as anybody else, that the current illegals WILL THEN BE ABLE TO BE COVERED.

Obama and Sanchez are liars.

Dan Riordan, Annapolis, MD

Dan Riordan   September 15th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

I suggest that when Pelosi apologizes to the CIA and when Reid apologizes to Bush and when Rangel apologizes to the American People (for stealing their tax $$ by not reporting his income honestly) THEN, at that point, Joe Wilson can apologize to Republicans for his dishonest apology to Obama.

Kathy   September 15th, 2009 4:48 pm ET

Sharon,
I agree with your comment but how differently do you think the outcome would have been if the President was a Republican and the outburst came from a Democrat and better yet a black democrat? Just food for thought; maybe the reason some people are bringing up race.
I totally agree that we should move forward given that President Obama accepted Mr. Wilson's apology.

Marty   September 15th, 2009 5:39 pm ET

In reference to Joe Wilson's disgustiing behavior, against President Obama, which by the way was unprcedented in the History of a presidental address. I wish to remind all Republicans, of the last presidents term in office "weapons of mass distructions" which is the reason we went to war with Iraq. Where was the "you lie" then, at least the Democrats have some class and are not totally belligerent.

Randy Frakes   September 15th, 2009 7:57 pm ET

Hi Rick, the President said that if an illegal alien child showed up at an ER with TB that he/she would be treated so that they wouldn't make other children sick , but what if an illegal showed up at the ER while having a heart attack? If he needed to have a quadruple bypass operation, that could cost the American taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, would he be treated then? Maybe the U.S. should bill the illegals home country.

Pat   September 15th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

Why is it inadequate? Because he is black? Why should it be more important than the rude things dems do? They have horrible behavior! They have done this many times to Pres. Bush. I am not his fan, but I think wasting time instead of working is bullshit and I am starting to leave the middle to the right. The way they are yelling racism and acting like babies and Obama is always campaigning and not in his office reading the freakin bills... I am bored with this and I know dems who have left the party recently.

Pat   September 15th, 2009 11:08 pm ET

Alex... Robin Hood? You said taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Dont you mean taking from the hard working and giving to the lazy?
I think it is pitiful that when there is nothing left to defend yourselves with you pull the color card.
Relative to the illegals, you of course are aware that Obama knows the law well and he is trying very hard to manipulate the truth... And you also likely know that if you make a law that includes everyone in the country, the law requires it includes the illegals so... either Obama is a lier or stupid. Your call.

Peggi From Cal   September 16th, 2009 3:28 am ET

Rick: “You’re Cuban, I’m Cuban.”
Perez: “Yes!”
Rick: “You’re gay, I’m not.”
Perez: “You’re not??”

Rick, I know you are proud to be Cuban. I know Perez is proud to be Cuban. But, you overlooked one huge label, one that is recognized around the world. You are American-you became American once you took the citizenship class; you became American when you decided you wanted to live in this great country. So, therefore, you are American. Not Cuban American, but American. America is the great melting pot of different cultures, races, and religions, to name a few.

Sloppy , unshaved, and not manicured. He looked as if he didn't even shower.
I bet you Rick you were sorry you made that choice. It was a funny interview anyhow.

Rick...Perez is laughable, he will hound soneoneo for a comment ,and when hegets his comment, it may not be in the form of a question he can relate too. To Mee he is a joke, that has had its 15 minutes of fame , and the fires should be extinquished. He has no real purpose , many people do what he does with a lot less confrontation.
We have too many peopel doing the same job and he does ot do his very well, hopefuly he will take a foot note for himself, and ride into the sunset!!!

Rick, Complaining that Fox News stated that other networks didn't carry the Tea Party in D.C. is just what Fox wanted. I will agree with Fox News that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and the rest of the networks are very one sided on their reporting when it comes to the White House. I don't know if the media is afraid to report negative news on the President, but it sure looks like it to me. The same happened with ACORN, why ? I lived in Atlanta area for 23 yrs and believed in CNN, I have lost that now with the way you report. I almost forgot, you lost my respect by having that fool Perez on your show, before someone starts, I have gay friends, it's just him

Rick Perez is disgusting. His comments on Miss California were beyond the pale. Why anyone would give him air time is beyond me.

Did a search on here for Charlie Rangel , found zero, so what are your thoughts on him being the chairman of one of the most financially heavy committes in washington, but not being able to control his own affairs, or even know what he owns, his forgotten bank accounts in the $1,000s, etc.?
Hard for me to believe all this can go on and no one seems to care or at least do much about it.

Thanks

America, Canada , all Europe ..... needs a President like this:

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd – Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.
Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians'.

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'. 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture..'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this , American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.
