That pastor in Arizona who hates Pres. Obama says he wants the president to die of brain cancer like Sen. Kennedy.  YES!  What's the Secret Service got to say?  You gotta watch this.

if his sermon would have been a aimed at president bush when he was in office he would be in gitmo by-now

Shawn   September 1st, 2009 8:07 pm ET

I don't think anyone should be making statements like that about the President but where was this coverage over the last eight years? Is it just because President Obama is black? Or is it because he is a Democrat? The same evil things and more were said about President Bush and you know what, they were both wrong...only the news coverage was rather lacking back then...

What's wrong is wrong, but I am just really surprised at how the media is playing favorites. It's getting harder and harder to find a news outlet that doesn't have an agenda or pick favorites.

willfightanddielikeaman   September 1st, 2009 8:27 pm ET

This question makes no sense! If he was Islamic and did the same exact thing as Anderson then what do you think would happen? This is not only a threat but also an order to his followers by their leader(Anderson) to murder the President.

This is like a Mobster putting out a hit on the President, and just sitting back while his fanatics- another casualty in his dumb war- do his bidding.

In my analysis, yes, he should be arrested. They arrest Black folks for far less than that so what's the hold up here, law enforcement?

alexlyrics   September 1st, 2009 8:33 pm ET

Rick, when I saw that stupid young African American man with riffle the first thing I said was where on earth are his parents?
Some one should have told him, that he would be marked for the rest of his life for acting like that while following the president.
I said to my friend, that soon everyone would know his name, and he would be probed for the rest of his life for his actions.
Sure enough he was traced to that church, with that loud mouth so called pastor. He is no pastor, just a crazed man trying to find satin inside his body.
I will say a prayer now, mine is for him to go to jail for threatening the life of our president. You know Rick, when I was a child, I had neighbors who shortly became friends, and they were a large Christian family. They played with us once or twice, and always had to return home. This family made up of white mom, dad, and five children. This family had three boys and two girls. The family always wore suits, ad dresses no matter where they went, and carried bibles. As children I felt sorry for them, because they had no childhood, just passing out flyers, and going to church. Well one night, the father drunk stood on a bucket in our alley and preached until midnight. He ranted and raved, and sounded like a madman. He clearly had demons.
Well Rick, this crazy so-called pastor has demons, you can clearly see in his face he is mentally challenged. This pastor is on the verge of a mental meltdown, and he wishes to go out in a blaze carrying his followers with him.
It is clear, that this pastor is attempting to lure some follower of his church to attempt to harm the President. This pastor is no different than Charles Manson, or that crazy guy who kidnapped the girl for 18 years. The man is just plain crazy. He should be removed from his church, and his license should be pulled.

Lack of Jobs Not Being Pursued

The loss of millions of jobs and entire industries in this country over the past ten years has been devastating to the working class, but I have not heard any discussion by Congress or on TV about stopping job outsourcing, cheap foreign worker hiring with visa programs, illegal immigration and unfair global trading. It shows you how much control big business has with their contributions to our politicians.

Jessica Otero   September 1st, 2009 10:09 pm ET

When is it legal or illegal to say something? Seriously, I think the pastor along with a lot of anti-Obama radicals are going too far...way too far.

Cousin Art   September 1st, 2009 11:49 pm ET

This is two days in a row that you showcase the crazy pastor. Is this an attempt to associate him with the conservatives attending townhall meetings? Anyone with a brain knows that there is no such association. Frankly, I am disappointed at your participating in this smear being directed by the White House .

Star B. Chicago, Ill   September 2nd, 2009 12:00 am ET

That so-called Pastor is a racist. The black man is dumb and naive...The pastor is just using him as a cover up. And he's following right behind him. The pastor obviously don't know his bible.

lindaglenn   September 2nd, 2009 12:40 am ET

i think if something happen to obama it is over for every body.

bigjeza   September 2nd, 2009 12:45 am ET

Rome burns and this is what Americans want as a news story? The country will be no better no matter who is elected president. $$$ (corporations) run this country. People don't want to hear the truth about this country. People will NEVER elect a president that will tell you the truth. Why? Because they want to be told everything is wonderful. People question everything for the sake of my kids and yours. Time is running out IMHO.

Julia K. Miller   September 2nd, 2009 12:48 am ET

Dear Rick:
Jesus said you would know we are Christians by our love. Please do not think that this "pastor" is a Christian. Our United States is filled with wonderful loving pastors who pray for our leaders in government and are nothing like this man.
Julia K. Miller

Laura   September 2nd, 2009 3:56 am ET

As much of a crazed idiot as this guys sounds like, he actually doesn't make direct threats and wishes the President would die at the hands of natural causes or, in the other one where he thinks he should be executed, by the law. So he doesn't sound like much of a threat to the President, just a threat to the minds of his congregation. I really don't understand why all of this hatred is being directed toward Obama, unless it's simply because he is such a prominent figure so people choose to direct their anger at him. I mean, come on, the last guy got us stuck in this ridiculous war...and OBAMA's getting death threats??? These people make Americans look like a bunch of racist morons.

You guys need to understand that Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter come up on a simple Google search and we need to just be able to talk to you without having to answer to it on our next job interview!

Carolyn   September 2nd, 2009 1:01 pm ET

I don't believe this pastor is a man of God. Our pastor prays for our leaders, and other leaders in the world. I pray and wish no harm to our president, or other world leaders, even if I don't agree with them. That said, I don't see that the pastor threatened the president. You yourself, made very strong comments to the man that claimed he is a reformed predator. You stated that you strongly dislike those types of people, you didn't state that you wanted them dead, but you showed a lot of anger towards people like him, which made me think, that you wouldn't mind someone like that dead. That's just my opinion. I want you to know that I myself am a victim of child sexual abuse, over ten years of my childhood, I with God's help was able to forgive the predator in my life.

Carolyn   September 2nd, 2009 1:41 pm ET

I am a Christian and I would never say something like that. This Pastor will have to answer for his comments – not so much because he doesn't not like Obama (he has the right not to like him) but because his actions are not setting a Christian example and could in fact be leading non-believers away from God instead of to him. This pastor (and I call him that with tongue-in-cheek) does not exemplify God-like behavior.

Kaitlyn   September 2nd, 2009 2:10 pm ET

Are you kidding me? Maybe he should read his Bible some more instead of hating on Obama. And they say you have to have religion to be a moral person...I'm not religious in any way, but I do not wish death on anyone.

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 2:39 pm ET

I dont condone these actions but buck up Obama, every President in history has had people hate them and wish they were dead, its part of the job description! Face it not everyones going to like you and thats life! Maybe if Obama was more concerned about upholding his MAIN campaign promise and help out the middle class instead of all these wealthy mans bailouts and these poormans handouts he would be in better standing with the majority of Americans! Liberals will say what a great job he`s doing, but really name one thing he`s done that benefits the middle class tax payer? You cant because he hasnt done crap! All the liberals are saying we need health care reform but these are the same people standing in line with their hands out! This is what I say to liberals, take responsibility for your own lives and stop expecting someone else will pick up the tab! You liberals remember one thing, as of right now the Independents are the ones jumping ship, they are the ones leaving Obama in droves, its not the wingnuts, they never were for Obama, and that spells one thing for 2012, NO MORE OBAMA!

Michael   September 2nd, 2009 2:41 pm ET

I don't see this guy as a preacher because even satan knows the bible and she is very good at misrepresenting the truth.

This guy is not against abortion but a lunatic racist. I pray that God will stop him from preaching hatred because God is LOVE.

Mike from Georgia.

Marty   September 2nd, 2009 2:53 pm ET

I totally denounce what this pastor said. It's ungodly. But I have a question for mister Sanchez and others here. How did you all feel about the movie called "Death Of A President" which was a fantasy piece about the assassination of George W. Bush? Distributed and broadcast internationally, this film was made during Bush's presidency. Just wondering if Mr. Sanchez had any feelings about that at the time? Does that constitute hate speech against a president in office?

And by the way, the gun hung over the back of this man has become a favorite image for the "hate" on the right. Again, Mr. Sanchez do you remember the Black Panthers marching down the street in a group with loaded AK-47s and camoflage during the Republican National Convention in 2000? Would you also call that hate? Just wondering if the double standard is here or not.

Akeem   September 2nd, 2009 3:05 pm ET

Have they arrested that pastor yet? Imagine a muslim leader saying this?! They'll be chaos with him.

mikeinwa   September 2nd, 2009 3:08 pm ET

Hey Rick – How about a little less bombast with regard to the Brunswick, GA police dept...

Thanks!

Kody   September 2nd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

In all fairness, they should cut his hand off and let that be the end of it. He obviously needs to get over his issues and grow up.

Rick in Northern California   September 2nd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Easy. Prison time. If you or I threatened the President like that they would throw away the key.

Ted in Alabama   September 2nd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Rick,
As a stay@home dad, anyone who threatened my child would be dealt with expediantly. I do not take threats lightly and children are out-of-bounds IMHO. I would've broken that old man's knee. I'd be willing to intervene for any intimidated mom, if she wanted me to.

As to the Secret Service investigating this Reverend, good. A threat is a threat no matter how unlikely.

cindy henriksen   September 2nd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

how can they charge heinze with tampering when the 911 operator told him to go back in and check the victims?

Miriam   September 2nd, 2009 3:19 pm ET

Regarding your broadcast about the man that wacked shut a child's cryinjg.

Yes, what he did was wrong. Obiously he is very old school and what he did is wrong!!! but how can the mother even allow him touch her child not only once, but four times!!! What in the world was she thinking??? Someone would have to kill me before they got their hand on my child.

danielle rowley   September 2nd, 2009 3:19 pm ET

that animal would have never made it even close to my child!! I guarentee i would be the one in front of a judge!

Robert Spevakow   September 2nd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Dear Rick maybe the I.R.S should get involved as the pastor is being political and even worse. They should seize his church's assets, the pastor's assets and even the elder's assets. Yours truly..rbs

Libera   September 2nd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Let me tell you if this monster hit my child or any child in my presence i tell you he would be lucky to walk into trial.

Wtching him on TV Clearly shows he has a problem and i bet they will find more on him..

SD Hawthorne   September 2nd, 2009 3:23 pm ET

I learned in my 10th grade civics/american history class, that it is against the law and an arrestable offense to threaten the life of the president, as well as incite or provoke an overthrow of the government. Did this law ever really exist? And if so, why is it not being enforced? God forbid during the Bush regime this would have been tolerated!

carl   September 2nd, 2009 3:26 pm ET

one more example of the rightwing lunacy gripping a certain segment of this country, why aren't these people enjoying the comforts of gitmo right now, instead of continuing to run their mouths?

Eric James Grays 3rd.   September 2nd, 2009 3:26 pm ET

Hi Rick I really love your show. You give us information that other news chanels don't even talk about. I am amazed that you are the only news broadcast that is even talking about this pastor Steven Anderson. But reverand wright was on every news chanel twenty times a day for months. It appears to me that the media itself is biased and or racist in it's programing. If a person of color had said these things about Bush. Their lives would have been ruined. Please speak to this lack of reporting on other news stations.

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 3:27 pm ET

Hey SD it was tolerated, George Bush had a movie made about this very thing and the Black Panthers marched on the Republican Convention in 2000, where were all you liberals when threats were being made in public and on the screen? No what your talking about before you write a bunch of crap!

Star B. Chicago, Ill   September 2nd, 2009 3:31 pm ET

The blavery of some people these days are getting very scary. Down to this so-call pastor speaking "hate" against Pres. Obama...And this guy slapping somebody else child. These people right here are destroying our country with hate and violence.

Miriam- Bakersfield, California   September 2nd, 2009 3:36 pm ET

RE: Trade Embargo

Castro will not have no dialogo. He will take any opportunity to talk, but will never hold a dialogo. When are people are going to wake up to that???

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

The Black Panthers marched on the Republican convention of 2000 with loaded AK-47`s, not one arrest was made! A movie was made called Death of a President which refers to offing Bush while he was still in office. Not even an investigation! Is it only ok for certain groups of people to make threats? Or do we live in a free society to say whatever we want?

Miriam- Bakersfield, California   September 2nd, 2009 3:39 pm ET

dialogo means basically a talk. you can only talk if you hear someone and respond and vise versa. Castro does not allow that!!!

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Cuba is a product of American diplomacy, we made Cuba into what is today, had we kept our noses out of their business the Communist wouldnt have been so popular in Cuba!

Jennifer   September 2nd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Rick, I can not tell you how many times I have been in a store or restaurant that somebody's kid was screaming at the top of their lungs and the parent did nothing or sat there and laughed because they thought it was cute. It isn't and I don't want to hear their screaming kid. Ok, maybe this guy shouldn't have hit the child...maybe he should have slugged the mom.

William Chambless   September 2nd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Mr Sanchez. I am an unemployed carpenter in Tucson AZ. Right now if I could sell a kidney for $25,0000.00 I would. The work here is dead and I will do whatever needed to care for my loved ones.

MJL   September 2nd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Why would you even televise this and give this person (I use this term loosely.) This poor execuse for a human being along with his parishoners are ignorant.

I say throw the pastor and that person with a gun into jail maximum security. Let the inmates at them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This is so upsetting!

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 3:48 pm ET

Jennifer, well said, although I`m surprised this liberal blog would allow to say that, but it is the truth!

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Rev. Wright taught hatred in his church for over 20 years and oh by the way this was the same church Obama went to. Wheres the condemation of Rev. Wright and his faithful supporters?

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Minorities find it real easy to condemn white people for their actions all in the name of whites being the majority, somehow makes this acceptable. One day whites will be a minority will this thinking change then?

Susan   September 2nd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

What's the difference between a woman who pays to "rent" a womb for 10 month gestation and someone who buys a kidney? Isn't that option only available to those who have money? If "renting" wombs are legal, then who makes these decisions about "buying" a kidney. That's what's so strange about advance science. I'm against both. Nature has a way of not making everyone perfect. Who gets to make these decisions? The rich, coz they want a new nose, kidney or womb to rent for 10 months?

MARG   September 2nd, 2009 4:00 pm ET

If Texas wants to leave the US- Let them. They produced two Presidents who caused a lot of problems- LBJ- Vietnam and GW Bush-Iraq.

Dennis   September 2nd, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Isn't it terrorism to use your power or position to incite others to kill the President? What if "the pastor" was a school teacher in the classroom? How long would he have that job?
Isn't it treason to plan the succession of a state, including Texas? Ask Aaron Burr or Harmon Blennerhassett.
Dennis Monongah WV

Jean   September 2nd, 2009 4:01 pm ET

Rick:

The mere thought of selling one's organs as kidneys is upsetting. I hate surgery (anything that cuts the body) and hope with the help of God I never have to undergo surgery, an operation.
Last evening I listened to Anderson 360 program about selling organs and I thought, those who sell their organs receive a certain amount of money and this is obviously a temptation for those who are in dire need of money, as the poor.
Selling and purchasing human organs is against the Law and if caught those who initiate it and perform this operation will be prosecuted.
How about those who procure and commit abortions as specifically the doctors, how much do the women pay to have abortions? How much do the doctors charge? It puzzles me that people can procure abortions; doctors charge for abortions, murdering babies in their mothers' wombs; babies are the future citizens and not much, if nothing at all is made of it. Those doctors of all are not prosecuted. I would think that there should be a Law against procuring and commititng abortions.

i am sorry, but the mere mentioning of rick perry (gov of tx) makes me just want to hurl... he squirmed his way into the gov. office when bush became office and for some reason is still there.... i have wrote in on a ballot NOT PERRY... and now you can tell he is trying to get more publicity (either for the next gov term or maybe even pres.) yuk.. i sure hope kay wins. deb-austin

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Isnt it not terrorism when Rev. Wright says that Americas problems are due in large part because of the Jews, and other groups of people, stop the hypocracy!

LeeAnna Kirkwood   September 2nd, 2009 4:10 pm ET

Regarding the pastor in Tampe, Arizon (Steven Anderson) in his hate messages re the president.
"You are the only reporter reporting this story. WHY!!

No other networks have mentioned this story at all.

Please reply.

Kevin   September 2nd, 2009 4:11 pm ET

I'm a Canadian citizen and proud of it.
Men like that needs to get a life . I think the reason he opens his big mouth is just to dictate his realign to the people of the world. Just like benladen . He is vary dangers to the people of the USA and the world. I think that a faith needs to stay in his church and out of others peoples lives that don't share in there beliefs.
If the people of the USA lets this man go on and his mouth keeps going I can see an uprising with the KKK and other factions in the USA. Obama is the best thing that ever happened to the USA since J,F Kennedy . I only hope that the people of the USA sees what a good man he is.
That man isn't a pastor of god but a pastor of the KKK. Has anyone looked into this so called PASTOR.
K, Zettler....

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 4:12 pm ET

Leeanna, its called inciting a crowd, where was Rick when Rev. J. Wright spewed all his hatred and discontempt for white people? Thats why the others arent making a big deal of this! All Presidents face these attacks and its part of the job!

Ann-Virginia   September 2nd, 2009 4:14 pm ET

I am shocked at the comment made by Cousin Art.He is more interested in worrying that the conservatives are being smeard than the threat this lunatic preacher is.Does anybody else see anything wrong with this view?Rick Sanchez did not try to smear anybody & if you were offended by that, then maybe you need to check your idiology. This lunatic preacher & anyone foolish enough to follow him should be put atop a saturn rocket & blasted into outer space.I have been around a long time & have seen the coservative movement get more & more hateful over those long yrs.Why can't we all just get along.

Rob   September 2nd, 2009 4:15 pm ET

Hey Kevin, newsflash, Rev. Wright has said the same things but no investigation there, why are you condemning the white man and not the black man?

Ken   September 2nd, 2009 4:23 pm ET

Wow…..
Mr. Sanchez, are you a reporter, commentator or entertainer?
Please answer the questions and tell us what your real
political position and agenda is....
Should Mr. AK-47 give up his gun rights?
Should Mr. Preacher give up his free speech rights?
OK, I would not wish someone to die or bring a gun to a rally,
however if you like it or not, by law this is their right to do so.
I would suggest that you do a little more reading on American history and study the US Constitution and uncrumble Bill Of Rights document that you have in your Left hand.

Joe   September 2nd, 2009 4:35 pm ET

Hi Rick,

I watched your report on the Pastor that wished for Obama's death and I have to agree with you that you just don't make these types of comments to anyone, specially to the president. Having said that, I think you exaggerated when you suggested that this is a trend and presents a danger to Obama. We all know that people will demonstrate their discontentment whenever they feel that politicians are just playing politics, and not looking for the people's best interest. Obama and the Democrats are proposing something that MOST American don't want. Maybe because they don't understand or maybe because no one, including the president, took the time to explain properly. The fact is that, we Americans have the right to express our selves and hopefully be heard by our representatives. The other comment that I would like to make is that, I did not hear you or the Liberal media come to Bush's rescue when, not only the people but politicians were calling him liar, dumb, and posting threatening signs that read "I'm here to kill Bush", "Bomb his house", "Save mother earth and kill Bush", "Bush the only dope worth killing", among many, many other ones that were out there during many events through out the country. Although I disagree with this form of protest and language, I kindly ask you to please stop making this an Obama "racial" issue, and let the people express them selves. If no one gets hurt and the people get to express how they feel, let it be. Maybe Washington will hear us!!!!

My two cents...

Bewildered   September 2nd, 2009 4:46 pm ET

Well I've been a christian all my life and one thing I know for sure that pastor is not one. If he had ever read the bible he would know that praying evil towards someone has no relations to serving God. HE IS EVIL!! and should be investigated by any and all investigating bodies. When president Obama was running I remember all of you making a huge deal about Pastor Wright who had made some pretty general comments about race and issues in black america, none of you defended his right to speak. I believe that white people feel so confident to making racist comments because they know that nothing would really happen to them, you "reporters" sensationalize it and they have their 15mins of fame. Also, that CHRIS whatever is a disgrace to the African race, I wish there was a way to ex-communicate someone from a particular race, he is the worst.

Jean   September 2nd, 2009 5:19 pm ET

Hi Rick:

This one is for your reading pleasure (smile). This is one of the emails which someone sent to me a week ago. As broadcasted, thinking of the incident where the little child was crying...

The Good Grand Pa -

A woman in a grocery store happens upon a grandfather and his poorly behaved 3 year-old grandson.
It's obvious to her that Gramps has his hands full with the child screaming for candy in the candy aisle, cookies in the cookie aisle, same for fruit, cereal and soda in their respective aisles.
Meanwhile Gramps is working his way around, saying in a controled voice, "Easy, Albert, we won't be long – easy, boy." Another outburst, and she hears Gramps calmly say, "It's okay, Albert, just a couple more minutes and we'll be out of here. Hang in there, boy."
At the checkout, the little terror is throwing items out of the cart, and Gramps again in a controlled voice says, "Albert, Albert, relax buddy, don't get upset. We'll be home in five minutes; stay cool, Albert."
Very impressed, the woman goes outside where Gramps is loading his groceries and the boy into the car. "You know, sir, it's none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don't know how you did it. That whole time, you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. Albert is very lucky to have you as his grandpa."
"Thanks, lady," said Gramps, "But I'm Albert – the little bastard's name is Steve. I'm going to beat the s*** out of him when I get him home."

Very funny. No wonder Steve, the little boy kept on with his attitude. Grandpa did not address him. Grandpa has a strange way of dealing with his grandson when outside or probably inside which is probably why the child's behaviour was so poor.
As an example, we could be somewhere, be it at work and someone calls out to us but called the wrong name which can happen sometimes. We obviously we will not respond. People answer to their names.
This reminds that as a child on a few occasions when my mother wanted to speak to one of us, her daughters, or asked us to do something she would call our names and the one whom she really wanted to speak to was near her and obviously would not respond until her name is called because her name was not called. Parents...

Matthew   September 2nd, 2009 5:47 pm ET

I wonder where all of the reporting was when I saw thousands of marchers, protesters and threats to G.W.Bush? I disagree with anyone ever wishing ill on anyone, but I would like to see some accurate reporting. Bush was vilified for every natural disaster and just about anything anyone could think of. Did you ever see one of the WTO summits? One of the anti-war marches? But if someone even sneezes about President Obama than they must be racists, fascists and crazy. Do you not think that any pastors ever wish President Bush died? I need you come to Atlanta I can point you out about a half dozen. There are extremes on both sides. The only difference I can see is that it seems more important when were talking about President Obama.

Tai   September 2nd, 2009 5:51 pm ET

I strongly disagree with just about everything that Obama is doing and stands for. But good grief, only a fruit cake would say what Pastor Steven Anderson is saying. He's clearly unstable and I can tell you being a conservative Christian myself, this "Pastor" is NOT a Christian. He may call himself a Christian but his heart is clearly filled with hate (and a boatload of lunacy). To wish death on another human being is NOT christian...period.

He and anyone who follows him do NOT represent Christians nor do they represent conservatives. They are a fringe group of nut cases.

He kind of reminds me of another "spiritual" head-case...Rev Jeremiah Wright.

Daron   September 2nd, 2009 5:52 pm ET

The liberal media just loves Obama! I agree that this pastor was way over the top and is a discrace to ALL God fearing christians with this ranting. It flies in the face of everything we are taught in the Bible. However, would this be an issue if Obama was white? NO!!!

Why are we putting such a sacred ring round this guy. He's destroying our country one step at a time. We are further in debt, less secure against our enemies and the government is growing everyday, taking over every aspect of our country. We are no longer a democratic republic, but a faciast state. Obama needs to go away, but only in 3 and half years! We need to get this country back on track with conservative values (Not Republican).

This pastor IS guilty of a crime by making threating remarks and he should be held accountabe. But then again, so was Obama's pastor for his dumb remarks about the white race, as well as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton!

Billy Bob   September 2nd, 2009 6:42 pm ET

Why isn't this "pastor" in jail? Lock him up.

Flonnace from Georgia   September 2nd, 2009 6:50 pm ET

Love your show RICK!!! I am really upset with the answer that Secret Service John Tomlinson said in response to your question. I believe any person no matter what religion or status that they have that threatens the President of the United States should be arrested and if found to be a threat then imprisoned. Our government has to protect our President.

For Pastor Anderson to say that he HATES President Obama and that he wants him to die like a snail and leave Michelle and the girls without the President is A DIRECT THREAT TO THE PRESIDENT. Anderson just didn't give the time or place that President Obama should die. When Chris the AR15 rifle toting black guy was interviewed on camera, said that he agreed with Pastor Anderson that he wanted Obama died now. IF THESE TWO IDIOTS ARE NOT A THREAT THEN WHAT IS ????????????

Because of racist and hate filled extremist that influence individuals who take to violence and death to carry out their beliefs are ALL murderers. President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert Kennedy, Reverend Martin Luther King lost their lives and President Ronald Reagan was shot by assasins.

Our government is formed with four governing bodies; the
Senate, House of Representative, Congress and finally the President. Individuals who believe that President Obama rules this country are stupid and do not know how Bills are passed and made into law. Each branch of our government has had an input into the Healthcare Bill. The American people needs healthcare for everyone and we will not be defeated this time!! The insurance companies have to change in the way that patients are accepted and treatments that they receive. There is much to be done but now is the time for it to be done. NO MORE DENYING MEDICAL TREATMENTS FOR EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN.

I had already lost most of my respect for you after your biased, bigoted reporting on your mexican buddies!! I don't agree with what this faux pastor has to say at all. But, to say that I, as one who is protesting about obummer's intentions, am part of a "collective group" that agrees with the pastor is irresponsible even for such an ignorant third world wannabe like yourself. Your type of faux reporting is just as contemptible as this pastors's rantings. Only difference? You have a much larger bully pulpit to spew your drivel.People want this guy fired and you should be standing right behind him in the unemployment line!!!

Joey Nations   September 2nd, 2009 7:45 pm ET

I am surprised by the ignorance displayed on this page. Flonnance from Georgia thinks that The House of Representatives, the Senate and Congress are three separate bodies......read a dang history book. Congress is what we call the House and Senate as a collective group. I will bet my liver that Flonnance voted for Obama like many other ill-informed people.

Colin   September 2nd, 2009 7:58 pm ET

The pastors speech is really in the gray area between protected free speech, and unprotected hate speech. I'm not sure which side of the line his statements fall on. He says he wants Obama to die and go to hell. Taken at face value, this is not a threat, just an expression of opinion. But crazy people listen to him, and might want to act. Does he really NEED to make an explicit threat, or can he just preach hate and count on one of his minions carrying out his will? He is really pushing the envelope of free speech here. Personally, I don't think any criminal charges of threatening the president would stick. That said, I think the Secret Service should be watching this guy like a hawk. This is one case where I'd support domestic spying, backed by a well-deserved warrant to do so.

Debbie   September 2nd, 2009 7:58 pm ET

First, I could not believe that guy Chris was allowed to carry a gun anywhere Pres. Obama.....now we see him as part of this pastor's supposed congregation.......truly shocking. How could a man of God be filled with such hatred? I am sickened and saddened to see such things going on in the United States......this all seems to tie into the abortion issue for some reason.......this is a land of freedoms.....laws.....they are looking for attention and they are getting it......that whole thing with that guy Chris was staged with the reporter and now this pastor.....it worries me......could they be part of a militia? I hope the Secret Service is looking into all of this.

Regina   September 2nd, 2009 8:41 pm ET

Yes I have been around a toddler that is crying in a store. All you have to do is talk to the child and from my experience they stop crying and interact with you. Never should touch or slap another child unless that child is in danger.

RufusVonDufus   September 2nd, 2009 8:42 pm ET

I think Sanchez would be really surprised at how many Americans feel the same way about Obama. Seeing as Sanchez is an Obama apologist and an Obama sycophant he will never truly understand the feelings many Americans have about this non president. The pastor is just a little more outspoken than so many other Americans. Maybe Sanchez attended the same America hating church as the Obamas did. I wonder if he listened to the rantings and ravings of the racist pastor?

d hoerter   September 2nd, 2009 8:51 pm ET

obviously this mother did not do all she could to quiet her obnoxious child. why shouldn't it be standard procedure to leave a public environment when your child cannot behave in that environment. I'm tired of having to experience unruly childrens' behaviors in restaurants, stores, movie theaters, airplanes, churches and public spaces, while the parents seem oblivious to their child's behavior. The parent needs to own responsibility and leave the area, period. Or find a babysitter , like my parents had the decency to do, if you need to be in that space. Case solved.

What poor man handout are you talking about?

Poor people have several programs to look after their needs way before Obama came to town. The issue is those of us who are not rich enough to get A1 healthcare, and not poor enough to get the FREE MEDICAID. Hence, healthcare reform is to make it more affordable and accessable to people in the middle like you and I.

Obama just came to town yesterday, and today you blame him for the woes of the past 10-12 years? STOP LYING TO YOURSELF AND GIVE THE LEADER A CHANCE TO SHOW US WHAT HE'S GOT, OK BOO BOO.

the parent should have taken the child out of the store when she could not control the crying child. the store people should have asked her to please leave until the child could behave as it disturbs the other shoppers. too many parents today allow misbehavior from their 'cute' children in a variety of public instances. restaurants is a biggy for that.... but of course this man did the wrong action, without a doubt!!!

imageswesee   September 2nd, 2009 9:44 pm ET

What are you kidding? They should make him a hero! They should erect a statue in his name in front of every WalMart. Do you know how many people have wanted to do that? OK so maybe two is a bit young and two maybe three slaps would have been enough. From now on when an "Appropriate Behavior" mother says, "You can't slap someone else's screaming brat." You can say, "You can now, Roger did it."

They'll hang a huge portrait of Roger behind the registers at WalMart warning all mother's with screaming, uncontrollable brats, that have never been disciplined in their lives, "Beware of Roger."

Well my dear, being there done that, Wright is quiet and not threatening the Prez but Anderson is, and so now he must stand up to public scrutiny as did Wright.

By the way, are you only middle class and have opportunities because you are White? I've noticed a lot of barely literate and quasi reasoning from most of the people who support the red neckism/hitlerism/racism/republicanism/right wingism, and must wonder how come you have so much more than a lot of well educated and more competent minorities?

I do believe that you are really afraid of having a level playing field and having to compete with brighter minorities. Your worry is that you may end up at the other end of the TOTEM.

I have been in the store many times when a child was crying, screaming or throwing a fit. Sometimes it is downright annoying especially if it is a case where the child is throwing a tantrum and the parent doesn't take them out of the store. I may want to tell the parent they need to take the child out and calm them down but I wouldn't even do that. I wouldn't even strike a child of someone I knew let alone someone that I didn't know. You just don't take those kinds of matters into your own hands. I think it was proper to arrest this man and he should undergo some kind of mental evaluation and at the very least some kind of anger management.

Rick, it's very disturbing to me as a former seminarian to see this kind of thing. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not about going back to the Hebrew Covenant and living out the Law of Moses. In fact, the Law of Moses was fulfilled by Christ, and none of us can earn our way to heaven by our own works. Furthermore, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is more about God's love for us, not his hate. I personally believe that Barack Obama is a Christian. He said that he is, and I have to take him at his word, just like I had to take George Bush at his word that he was a Christian. As far as God hating abortionists, I don't believe that either. God sent his Son for them too. If not, then the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a meaningless dirty trick and a sham. This pastor should examine what he's doing, because even if he does nothing to harm our President personally, he could be inciting others to do so. It sickens me that someone like this horrible man is a pastor, and that even a small group listens to him.

usavigilance   September 3rd, 2009 2:56 am ET

Come on Rick are you going to hold Obama to the same standards as Chris B.? Guilty by association? What did Obama's own pastor say about the USA ? And I quote, "Not God bless America, but God Damn America "!!! According to your own logic Rick, Obama hates America because his pastor does. You see how pathetic that reasoning is. It would be like saying that just because Obama is friends with Bill Ayers that he is a domestic terrorist . Or that just because some of his cabinet members are self proclaimed socialists and communists, and eugenicists, that our beloved leader is.
My question is: if this pastors message is so dangerous why does CNN keep broadcasting it to the masses over and over ? If someone threatens or kills a christian, or burns down a church are you responsible Rick?
Oh and by the way Rick the border patrol claimed that their dogs had hit on either drugs or a person in the pastors trunk. Like the WMD's in Iraq, they found neither.
It would be equivalent to someone saying that just because you work for CNN, that you are a bought and paid for "corporate shill" and not a real journalist. You see how unfair the guilty by association rhetoric is Rick?

Lionhawk   September 3rd, 2009 3:51 am ET

It is one of the oldest tricks in the book, that I have witnessed once more, of discretionary manipulation of the real truth. Ignorance of this real truth is not or will be considered a tolerable excuse when it comes to the accountability of your soul. That also includes all who have and continue to participate with this agenda.

The cat is out of the bag and many of us are in the real know. I thank you for enlightening us once more and your network for using such an old and boring tactic, to cover up the real agenda of the ones you serve. May God find the compassion to bless you with. It is a shame to again witness the selling out of our human race. What you have sown, you shall also reap. Harvest time is around the corner and I a sure you that it will not be us this time around.

Blessings to you and your family. God, if they only knew that you have marked them by your servitude. They will end up reaping what you have sown.

In love and service to the Creator!

but if I saw this man, say, or touch this child...I would have followed him and called security and the police and tailed him til they got him. I would have wanted to launch on him,but his twitch and his face appear to be not a happy or nice man and indeed a violent man. I hope they give him time in jail.

To wannabeaman-I couldn't get online yesterday but when I did today your nonsensical comments gave my index finger a real workout on the delete button. While that pastor is definitely on the lunatic fringe you are right out there too. Soulmates, one might say. There are republicans and democrats but I would classify you and your ilk as Pongites. Enough said. Keeping people llike yourself and the pastor in the spotlight is detrimental to Americans. There is airpollution and water pollution but I would classify yours as comment pollution. When I drove OTR I met many people from all over the country and, like all the comments above, I really learned a lot about America in the truck stops talking to these same people. Many gallons of coffee were consumed. We have a great country and the majority of its citizens are hardworking, responsible people. Now, if we could just get rid of the politicians we would be way ahead of the game.

Norma.....Lakewood Colorado   September 3rd, 2009 9:41 am ET

I think that if I saw this happening to any one any where, I would have to grab that man and slap him a few times to let him know how it felt. Then call for police. That was just uncalled for. He must have mental problems or something.....what an ediot!!

spoteate   September 3rd, 2009 9:49 am ET

Regardless of his title the man in question is NOT a Christian. The Bible clearly states that ALL governments are in power thru Him and we should, because of love and duty to God, respect His choices. The "pastor" is spewing hate which is of the Devil. He should not have a bully pulpit on the news. Love CNN

Mathew   September 3rd, 2009 10:15 am ET

In this country when one can not slap their own biological child, this was inappropriate action from a stranger,

If the situation warrants, I would buy a candy for that child and coerce him to stop crying or otherwise best thing to do just move away from the scence if you are irritated.

May be this is the guy dealingwith his own child in this similar manner.

I found some abnormality in his face by looking at his video.

Dave in Sedona, AZ   September 3rd, 2009 11:13 am ET

Rick, I was so embarrassed for you to see how you turned this nut case's comments into something "racial." The preacher did NOT say anything about President Obama being black - I live in Arizona, and this preacher has black, white and hispanic people in his congregation. Your newscast, and your words specifically, made it appear he hates Obama because of his race. That's not true at all and those words have never come out of that guy's mouth. He hates him because he's "a socialist" and because he's spending all of our country's remaining resources to change our country into a socialist regime. The guy is simply way too vocal – many people feel the same way (about the coming socialism, not about the President dying). Are you going to arrest people simply because of their big mouths? The guy is a nut case, plain and simple. Not a racist, and not a terrorist.

There have been many times especially at Walmart where there is a kid screaming and the mother just keeps pushing the cart and ignoring the kid and 10 minutes later I pass them again all the way across the store, kid still crying, mom still walking like a zombie, I consider it abuse to ignore your childs crying for looong periods of time anyhow so I have wanted to smack the mother for not handling the situation by say.. taking the child out of the store and helping the kid calm down but of course I never did and never ever did it cross my mind to to take it out on the kid,

Hi Rick,

As a 25 year Police Sergeant, what those officers did was nothing short or murder. Even if a drug transaction was taking place, that was no reason to shoot especially since the vehicle was trying to get away. Many people do not see plain clothes officers badges around their neck when excited.

Rick,
As I watched your interview conerning the pastor killed by the police, if they thought a drug transaction occurred, why wait til the pastor got in his car to draw their guns? I am sure the cops had to be in the area outside the store where they could have confronted him in the store. I just don't get this police paranoia. Is it that bad they have to shoot first?

One of the posters here did a clever thing, I think, of the word hate (hate to hate haters...).

The preacher hates another human being because philosophy is different and/or race is different, and wishes something terrible would happen to said human.

If you hate Obama because he's spending the rest of the bread, sleep comfortable my dear because Bush didn't leave a dime for him to spend- left us in a hole he prays Obama cannot dig us out of.

The preacher is really not a preacher of the gospel but a preacher of hate. They should keep the spot light on them until the cockroaches scatter like the DEMONS they are! Anderson and his ilk are TERRORIST.

Today on CNN I saw a quick flash of a Rick Sanchez, and thought it was General Ricardo Sanchez, sometimes address as Rick Sanchez. At any rate, I wanted to share this story, in brief, In Dec of 2002 I was in a military base named Camp Darby, Italy, I went to the travel office and asked if there were any trips to Rome and I was told a family was going to Rome the next morning and needed one more person for a total of 8. 3 Star General Rick Sanchez and his family were on board a mini van with a tour guide, and I joined then not knowing it was the General. Long story short, we toured all of Rome, visited the Vatican with this private guide, and returned to Camp Darby at about 10pm. The guide went out of his way to show the family everything possible and explain in detail things. The next morning, on base, I again met the family for breakfast, still not knowing who this family was, and never imagining I was with a three star. The General and family were super nice to me, and never said who they were, etc. I enjoyed them very much. A few days later I saw the General in a newscast, maybe CNN, don't remember, and realized who I had been on tour with. If you have any connection with this General, send him my email. I have told this story to several people. So Rick Sanchez, off CNN,you have a famous name, and confused me. r/John Tinoco

As a former Vietnam combat wounded soldier, I take great offensive of anyone that would wish harm on our Commander In Chief. Know matter what you think personally about a President of the United States, We owe our complete respect, for the Highest Office of The United States Of America. Anyone that blattenly makes threats or wishs harm of the President, should be considered a terrorist of this Nation, and should be punished for his or her actions. This being said, This Pastor is spreading hatred and broadcasting this to his flock, and to other unbalanced individuals who might act upon this Pastors Sermon. I hope the CIA is watching this Pastor and his flock. Also this African American that I have seen on TV Flaunting a AR M-15 Assault rife like he is the big cheese, should be watched closely. He probably has no combat training and is just a wanna be tough guy. This thug is not one you will see wearing a United States Soldiers Uniform, that takes a real man. I have seen such deteriation of this country in the last twelve years, People have lost thier sense of values and patriotism to the point that I really wonder why I served and lost blood and flesh for, for a country that people seem to not respect our political system. We all need to step back and think of what we can do besides threats to our President, to make this country a better place. All this Pastor has done is poisoned more minds of people who feed on this poisonous Garbage of this Preacher.

Rick,

you must understand that theh state of Arilzona is ruled by fanatics, including Christian fanatics.

Recently, to balance the state budget, the legislature eliminated public education for many children. It is legal for Arizona citizens to carry weapons, even the nuts.

I suggest that any listeners thinking of vacationing in Arizona, understand that the state of Arizona is a dangerous place, much like Baghdad. Go somewhere it is safe, not the state of Arizona

Oh, what is the address of the "unchristian" pastor(?) who so readily violates the teaching of Christ??

You hear stories of people impersonating police all the time. In VA a years ago there were serveral murders by someone who impersonated police. Police should only confront someone in a real police car and real police uniform.

If a car pulls up beside me and two guys hop out with guns in their hands, I'm running over them too.

rick, seems to me these oposing parents are displaying an obvious RUSH to judgement.

Peggi From Cal   September 4th, 2009 3:35 pm ET

Rick, you and I are gonna disagree on whether or not the Prez can ask kids what inspires them-he is the FIRST black prez, he came from a typical background that many kids come from, and he wants to hear from them, just like he wants to hear from other Americans.

Haydee Pelosi   September 4th, 2009 3:41 pm ET

Dear Rick, the congressman you had on does he remember that Bush was sitting in a classroom on September 11, 2001. Also, Ms. Reagan was visiting schools about her program "say no to drugs?"
I certainly would like an answer to these questions...It is just that Republicans have become racist and vendictive people and all Obama does they go against them...I was a school teacher and having a president come to talk to my students would have been great, specially Obama!
Thanks
Haydee

Luke   September 4th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

Why is it such a Big deal that President Obama is tlking to school kids trying to be a good mentor when President Bush was reading a school book to a class of elmentary chidren on the day our country was attacke, 9/11.

Tina   September 4th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

I am soooo tired of all of the bigots in this country that the media is giving full coverage to vent their racist agendas. This is no longer 1960 so I can guarantee you that this time when a civil war breaks out in this country due to these racist bigots, They better watch their backs this time. The left will be ready for them when they come with their violence.

Tom in Tampa   September 4th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

The country is so divided now we need to establish two contries. Put the Republicans in "Conservative" and the Democrats in "Wildville."
Can you believe that Republicans are so apposed to the United States of America that they do not want their children to listen to the President. We use to have an orderly change in ruling Party. We had a true democracy. Now it is my way or the highway. With these two Parties I have not voted for anyone in years. I vote against the candidate I dislike the most.

E. Rivera   September 4th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Rev. JoAnne Maxwell-Jenkins   September 4th, 2009 4:06 pm ET

I am a pastor in Grasonville, Maryland, The Grasonville/Carmichael
Charge of the United Methodist Church. I was very upset to hear the words of a so-called man of God. I say so-called, because in our faith this is not the Spirit of God. This man finally shows is real nature, a wolf in sheep clothing. He must remember that what evil you wish upon another usually comes back on you.

I also heard the gentleman who spoke about the actions of the Sercret Service. I was not impressed with his answers. This matter should be taken seriously. Especially inregards to the young man who was carrying a rifle and went to this church. He doesn't look right himself and needs to be investigated. Thank you.

EUGENIO A. M.D.   September 4th, 2009 4:23 pm ET

Does this man actually represent Christianity in any form? I am not a Christian but I do believe in Judeo-Christian ethics. If you look a bell shaped curve, this man is at the extreme end of Christians who profess hateful messages. I have written the Secret Service three times now because of my fear that as a unit they may not protecting the present adequately. I say that because irrespective of whatever state rights may or may not be applicable for people to carry concealed or non-concealed weapons what we're talking about here is the president's life, his family's life and the fact that something untoward could happen.
If we examine just briefly what has happened in the recent past we will see the following: Pres. John Kennedy was killed by alone wolf,Democratic candidate Bobby Kennedy was shot by Sirhan Sirhan, another lone Wolf, Pres. Reagan was shot by a psychiatrically unbalanced (paranoid schizophrenic I believe) John Hickey Jr, most of them have been in situations where nothing was expected.
What we are seeing here is people bringing guns to an area where the president is speaking, even if they're outside. It not only is it inappropriate but I believe highly dangerous. Things could degenerate very quickly and unless the Secret Service has sufficient people out there, I am not sure they would have enough people to protect against a lone wolf, of course there is much about the protection detail that I don't know.
This pastor (difficult to call the pastor) is highly unbalanced and may well be another paranoid schizophrenic who happens to have a pulpit from which he can preach. The screams were heard when the policeman pulled him out of the car, I suspect were done for effect and were disingenuous. I would hope that the Secret Service and/or the courts would make this man and some other congregants, including the man carrying the AR-15, also take some psychiatric tests. Yes I am a physician but I'm not a psychiatrist, however, I have a great interest in psychiatry and I saw lots of things that scared the hell out of me! I only pray and hope that the Secret Service is really on top of this.

( By the way an aside for your benefit was no ill intent on my part, the fact that you mentioned that you were Christian and started to expand on that is really not germane. You do this kind of thing often and you don't have to, it takes away from the objectivity of what you're trying to say and quite frankly doesn't belong in this conversation or in many conversations.)

I can't believe how impotent you appeared while interviewing the state senator who compared Obama to Mao. First off, why not confront him with that insane comment. Second, you didn"t do your own homework by KNOWING what the President's letter said, thus allowing this cretin to convince you he was right.

Rick, if we are a nation of laws, why is Van Jones allowed to be green czar when he is a self-proclaimed communist, has radical views and is a member of STORM. Why is he allowed to be an advisor to the President. Next, the whitehouse wants to indoctrinate our school children. What is our US becomming?

EUGENIO A. M.D.   September 4th, 2009 7:29 pm ET

To Mr. Joe Russo: it appears to me that if anybody is a cretin, you are. It is entirely possible, although not to you probably, that Rick Sanchez does not know everything and allows people to come in and give an opinion without being offensive buffoon like you are. It appears to me that the only thing you know how to do is insult people. But then I forgot, could you possibly represent the Republican far right? Please answer, I look forward to more verborrhea on your part!

JD Hamilton   September 4th, 2009 8:17 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez,

I suspect, due to your latin heritage (I'm profiling, here.) that you are biased towards religion. I'm going to further bet you're biased towards christianity with a leaning towards catholicisim. Now I'm totally profiling here. If you are having trouble reporting due to your religion, you should get out of the business. The other option is to dump religion. You cannot be a serious reporter, and be religious at the same time. the two are mutually exclusive... if you are going to be honest with yourself.

David   September 4th, 2009 8:37 pm ET

I don't care what flavor of religion this extremist nut follows, Christian or Islamic or anything else. When you are willing to override your moral conscience to this degree because of what you think some 2000yr old book tells you or some imam tells you, this is just pure evil. Don't be fooled by labels like Christian or Islamic. Fundamentalists are ALL the same.
But just be clear about this, the ONLY difference between a Christian fundamentalist in this country and an Islamic fundamentalist in Pakistan, is the rule of law and the US Constitution that keeps these nuts solidly in there places.
I think this guy made a clear and implied physical threat against the President and should be arrested and jailed immediately, preferably in Pakistan.

Rick Sanchez:

Maybe in the next few months, all restrictions on traveling to Cuba…might be lifted.

One liberation plan entails that all willing and able tourists who travel to Cuba, to: “just act up”…

THE OBJECTIVE IS: TOURISTS GONE WILD

Imagine, 250,000 American tourists on the island, in a hyper-euphoric state…

In short: Be prepared to give away everything that you may have been able to take with you…

You may have done your part; if you return to Miami with only the clothes on your back…Anybody got a better idea for demolishing autocratic rule?

Remember, most people in Cuba have had very little and many are scratching daily for enough food to eat…

The man who hit the screaming toddler in Georgia should be charged with bodily assault. Injury to a child and any other law that applies. If he did this to a child to who he did not know what could this man do to society at large? Lock him up and throw away the key.

Gloria Mohr   September 4th, 2009 8:57 pm ET

The pastor from Arizona, he is not a Christain. #1 a person with this kind of hate has no business preaching the gospel. I can't believe he has a church. What is wrong with anyone who would listen to him. I have been raised since day one with a very spiritual family and trust me, you wouldn't find any scripture that would back him. He has the Satan in him. His congregation needs to be leary of him, not Obama.

What has happened to our country. I never would have believed that our country was so racist. People keep telling me, I'm not a racist but I don't trust Obama. Well, that is because you listen to all these people like this pastor, who doesn't know anything about Obama but because they listen to critics and idiots like Rush Limbaugh and other ignorant people who can't stand the fact that an intellgent black man like Barrack Obama is our President They make up this hate. I am so ashamed of the way grown men and woman are treating a digitary like President Obama just because he is black. I am a white woman who am so proud that we have a man of his stature as our President. He truly loves our country and wants more for the lower class than any other President since Abraham Lincoln. Most of this whole discussion is why our children of this era are so disrespectful.
It is a racial thing and you should all be ashamed. I am sure God is ashamed of you.

I have been molested and raped by different people. if i can tolerate listening to their point of view and not be self righteous; i think that is the least you can do. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE OBJECTIVE!

Rick, I hate to tell you this who is more determine than racist and bigots in the GOP Cubans Americans. Anything you want you believe that it should be that. I was in Miami with that little boy was held hostage. You have a right to try and get what you want . So don't think I am condeming you're culture. Go and see your family disagree but do it respecfully, He will not be bullied or troubled by you stop making it hard on your people.

This "pastor" should obviously not be allowed to "preach". He is not only threatening to the president but he is in a position of a teacher and a guide to his congregation. I'm surprised real Christians ( who are trying to actually behave like Jesus) don't take more action against people like him and others on the far right. Jesus didn't sit back and take it...he got got more pissed off with hypocrites than anyone else. This man is destroying the name of Jesus and Christianity.

Roz   September 4th, 2009 11:34 pm ET

The pastors sermons are all posted on the churches website. I listened to one from march on home schooling ... http://www.faithfulwordbaptist.org/032209a.mp3 during which he twice halted to mock the Tempe police which he said passed every day. Its no wonder they do, this guy uses the bible craftily to condemn everything from Joel Ostein, to Arizona State University, to an Elementary School in Hayward CA. Public School Diplomas are the "Devils Certification" he said, and college degrees he called "Dung on the Wall". But most chilling off all were the last few moments of the sermon, when he made his last pitch as to why you should not send your children to public or church schools, he suggested driving down to the local elementary school when they let out at 3pm and watching the "parade of children", "nine year old girls dressed like sleazy hookers", "boys with underwear hanging out shaking their....", I cant even repeat here where he went with this.... I have never heard 'normal' adults describe children in such a way. This guy is scary!

Mr Obama, in the midst of his campaign had a message which was very popular at the time. One in which he enjoined us all to tone down the rhetoric. I believe in that message. The press, whether we are talking about ABC, NBC, FOX or talk radio has a vested interest in maintaining the angst in order to entice people to buy their papers and listen to their broadcasts. It is press which fueled the fires of those who threatened the life of the previous administration and now believe it a horrible crime even to criticize this administration. I support going after those who threaten the life of the President of the United States. Let’s prosecute them all, but please include those who threatened Bush. A simple search engine command will provide plenty of evidence.

gloglo   September 5th, 2009 5:43 pm ET

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Is a threat to someone's life not criminal? Why doesn't someone sue the liar when lies are told about politicians or anyone else for that matter on the news media? Does freedom of speech trump our laws about threats and character degradation when the degradation is a lie? I don't understand why something cannot be done to prevent the media from spreading lies about someone's character even if a nutjob says it. I also don't understand why someone wouldn't be arrested for threatening the life of our President. Are threats no longer taken seriously???

Elaine Butler   September 6th, 2009 10:58 pm ET

The nerve of him to call yourself a pastor, he is of your father the devil teaching fear and hate to his congregation. The bible states not to give that which is Holy to the dogs, but I am going to give him some true facts. This shows his ignorance of the word of God. The bible says to pray for those who are in authority, not put your lips
and curse what God has ordained. This shows the hatred that is rooted deep in his heart. I am sure this is not because of our President’s choices but the color of his skin.
He is a prime example of those who preach hatred to the weak minded to try and convince them to act upon it. The word of God states that no weapon formed against Gods children shall prosper and touch not his anointed ones. The bible also states if you hate your brother you are considered a murderer. God is love and the abundance of the heart speaks the mouth. This pastor's heart is evil and leading you to hell because he is not a pastor, he is a “FOOL”, and do not know God and he does not know you.

Clarence   September 6th, 2009 11:09 pm ET

We know the pastor is insane, so debating his remarks is wasted effort. What's important here is his congregation's response: does it agree with him, or is it leaving his church in droves? If the answer is the former, then it is as sick as he.

ayse kay   September 7th, 2009 1:57 pm ET

All these hate mongers and so called anti health activists are all just either fanatic fundalmentalist fascist redneck idiots OR republican paid stupid robots. The fact that this "man of God" would use the Bible to justify hating our nation's leader and wishing death upon him is sad and rather embarrasing! I just cannot wrap my mind around how he thinks he is justified in his insane thinking." Ignorance & hatred will be the demise of the great country we called the "United" States of America.

C. Maddox   September 7th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

I John 1:9 tells us that.."He that saith heis in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now." This pastor should be ashamed of himself. It's okay to dislike some of the policies but to come out and say 'I want him to die'. Come on! Is this really What Jesus Would Do? He is preaching hate cloaked under the banner of racism. I think this election has shown many Christians the true state of their own heart when it comes to race. We smile in the pews, but we have hatred in our hearts. Is this 'really' what Jesus would do? I think not!

Robert   September 7th, 2009 3:14 pm ET

Rick, This pastor is hiding behind what he calls the word of god. Think about it, you never read of Jesus saying Father, break his teeth out. Jesus guidance was based on "love thy neighbor".

That pastor is a looser trying to twist religion to get followers just like Glen Beck and the rest of Fox News does with half truth stories.

There will be weak minded idiots who follow him but not many.

BTW, I am atheist! HA!

Warren McClain   September 7th, 2009 3:15 pm ET

Rick, I am a Presbyterian minister and I think the pastor who hates President Barack Obama does not know the Bible. Jesus is the highest authority in Scripture and he says we must love one another. There is no permission to hate. Jesus also says clearly, "Love your enemies." Too many people misquote the Bible to justify unchristian behavior. Thanks for your time.

Charles   September 7th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

Mr.Sanchez!!
Is it your decision to report on this Pastors actions, then refuse to allow his real intentions to be heard? Or are you compromising your professional integrity?

The way I see and understan this man is that he is testing this contries resolve to stand behind the constitution. He was arrested for resisting an unlawfull search and seisure by the U.S. Border Patrol; an agency of the U.S. government now being used to stop and randomly search vehicles without cause or warrant.

Let this mans true intentions be heard!!! I for one, am tired of surrendering more and more of the rights that I fought for in vietnam, and my father fought for in WWII.

Cathy   September 7th, 2009 3:26 pm ET

Rick, if that pastor in Arizona hates Obama and/or his policies so much, he needs to PRAY for him, not wish him to die! That's what Jesus said in the New Testament that we should "PRAY for our enemies and those that persecute us!" Even Paul and the early Christian leaders never advocated killing their enemies even though they (their enemies) were persecuting and killing them!

Turley Hayes   September 7th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

margaret Graham   September 7th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

It is quite interesting you are stuck on the Obama hating pastor story. It makes is especially news worthy that he is white. Where were you when Reverend Wright was ranting about hate and G.D. America. Obama sat there 20 years hearing all of it. Some of the people in the Tempe based Pastor's church in Arizona are leaving. I doubt anyone except Obama left Reverend Wright's church. He only left because of the pubilicity.
It might do you well ( to appear fair and balanced) to do a special on all these hate mongers including Malcomn X (remember him). Where is he these days!

Take a trip into the Black Baptist churches to hear a sermon. That might be enlightening. You should make the point that this Pastor does not advocating anyone kill Obama.......just that he die of natural causes. It is very disturbing that any ministers preaches this way but you need to highlight all of the hate mongering preachers on both sides of the aisle.

Carol   September 7th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Rick, I tuned in to watch the coverage of this story, but when it came on I had to mute the tv because I just could not listen to this story it is so disturbing to me! My question is,Is this not considered a terrioristic threat, to say the least? Is that not a federal crime and is not this person subject to immediate arrest on federal charges? If this was a mosque, I "guaren-d___-tee" you the place would be crawling with FBI and Secret Service by now! I hope there is survellience on every single member of that church 24/7, and an immediate arrest of this domestic terriorist!

Lovie2000   September 7th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

The very fact that he proclaims to be a pastor and preaches hate and the hate of another human life, on top of that wishes death on him; speaks volumes.

This scum is not a real man of the cloth and wanted attention, and you all are giving it to him and his scum bucket of followers.

The hell that he is trying to build for another will be his own. Ignorant imbecile.

Sonia   September 7th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

Shouldn't the hate-mongering Pastor be arrested or investigated? What if he inspires someone else to try and harm the President?

Fran   September 7th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Rick .. It was a total shock to me when I heard that pastor saying that he hates our President and wants to see him dead. I am a "died in the wool" Republican and did not vote for Mr. Obama. However, he is still our President and, as such, deserves the respect and support of the American public. If people feel strongly against him, they will have an opportunity in 2012 to elect someone else – not assassinate another human being. May God forgive us all our sins (especially that foul mouthed Pastor).

old sceptic   September 7th, 2009 4:01 pm ET

Seems to me that this church's tax exemption should be revoked immediately...there are also laws about inciting violence that need to be enforced.
Also, interesting how the far right are screaming about anyone who even remotely criticizes them...yet they feel they can say and do anything without reproach.

Willie Yanock   September 7th, 2009 4:04 pm ET

AS for the pastor wanting President Obama to die of natural causes. Well there will always some nut out there that will say something to get noticed and that will never end. But what can end is this sensational so-called news program to promote this. That's why I find Rick Sanchez deplorable in his self-promoting sensationalism just report it and let it drop without repeating it over and over again just for better ratings. CNN is now the new FOX I can't tell the difference anymore.

This is the kind of person who gives Christians and other God fearing people a bad name. His hateful words are so contrary to what Christ taught I can't help but entertain the thought of Christ himself appearing to this jerk and asking him "who died and made you god?" I never was a fan of George W. Bush but I would NEVER, ever say something so hateful about anyone. The pastor's lack of love and basic christian principles is appalling. That he has a church is amazing to me. I only hope he comes to realize how wrong he is and ask the God who he says he believes in, to forgive him for his arrogance and hatred. I suggest he read James 4:11-12:

"There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who
are you to judge another?"

Hate and bitterness consume a persons soul, unfortunately they have the ability to infect others with their disease. Define the enemy for people, and as if they were sheep being led to their slaughter, they follow and chant, oblivious to their demise. When its done in the name of God, all the more will follow.
Gone are the days when we respected the office of President. Gone are the days when he was Our President. Gone are the days when we taught our children that it was an honor and a privilege to hold that office and the sitting President was the democratically elected leader of the UNITED states of America.
This terrible division in our country has the power to bring us all down, it will never lift us up.
As a people we need to Come Up Higher.

If a church is going to pay politics instead of religion, then all tax exemptions of church property and congregations donations should no longer be tax exempt.

If you play the game, you got to pay the price.

Our cities and nation's government could use a big boon of instant tax money. In major cities, some of the most expensive property has tax exemptions and is off the tax roll and the city's population has to pay higher property taxes because of it. Also if the clergy is trying to influence one political choice over another on the pulpit rather than delivering a religious sermon, then the congregation has to pay the price by not getting a tax exemption on the money they donate to the church. It is taking money (as a tax ememption) under false pretenses. If people wanted to donate their time and money to a political candidate, they can. However, the tax rules are very different for churches and for political candidates. If you are a church, then be a church. If you want to run a political campaign, then don't do it in church.

There is simply NO excuse for the president of the United States of America putting a man who was a non repentant MARXIST and ANARCHIST in a govt position.

CNN or anyone has no standing or creditability AT ALL in criticizing ANYONE for calling the president a socialist.

What the president of the United States did is FAR FAR worse.

No sir there is no excuse for that NONE.

Even liberals posting on the San Fransisco Examiner web page think president Obama went to far.

My God there is NO excuse for that.

His actions are a slap in the face to the memory of JFK.

carolyn   September 8th, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Hopefully, someone is investigating him. He might have co-mingling of funds between the church and his business. However, those who use any church to tell people how to vote risk loss of their tax status as a church. Fair enough!

Larry So Cali   September 8th, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Great work with the Phoney Pastor story Rick...!!! These kind of people are the true face of the Neo-con Evil .

Pam Moser   September 8th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

There will always be the wackos–the lunatic fringe. If they're ignored, they usually end up hanging with their fellow wackos and being forgotten. Come on, Rick, how can we get the media to just quit giving them air time?? To quote the much-esteemed Sara "Wacko" Palin, maybe then they and the rest of the right wing will just "QUIT MAKING THINGS UP!" What's the best way to deal with an out of control child? Right: Ignore the behavior, and it will extinguish itself.

Don   September 8th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Just curious, but is "Pastor" Anderson an ordained minister, or a self-proclaimed pastor?

Luis   September 8th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Ok so this pastor is now a lying pastor. If he said that he isn't running a business from his church or even never did admit it. Wouldn't that be wrong in the eyes of the church? And on top of it to wish anyone dead. What kind of example is this setting for the faithful?

Keren Clark   September 8th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

I am a parent of two 16 year-old juniors at the now slightly infamous Prescott High School in the Prescott Unified School District in Prescott, AZ (the district did not allow the speech in any of its schools)

I kept my boys home today to watch the President and engage in discussion. We have been watchig the coverage all day. Thank goodness so many Americans remain reasonable and open to listening to the inspiring words of our President. Thank you CNN for your coverage!

Spring   September 8th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Nothing in his comments stated he wants to kill the President. He’s just saying hopefully no one is stupid enough to make the Messiah a martyr by assassinating him and that he dies a painful death by suffering from cancer.

I notice there was no such flurry of news regarding the remarks made about President Bush when he was in office.

Skalgard   September 8th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

Hi Rick, You voted for Bush?OMG How'd that work out for you?

Sharron   September 8th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Hi Rick~~
As a viewer from north of the border, we cannot understand all the controversy over your president's speech, which encourages children to persue their education. Having seen clips from GHWBush speaking to children, and Ronald Reagan doing the same, what is the problem with your current president speaking to the kids? Some folks just need to get over themselves!
Sharron

Baron987   September 8th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

So What! This pastor is small potatoes – I have not seen any reports on Charlie Rangel – tax cheat. Also, there hasn't been much background investigation on the multitude of czars that Obama has appointed.
On another note, I am glad parents are keeping their kids away and it has NOTHING to do with racism JUST POLICIES.

Ann   September 8th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Nail him Rick and don't let up. "Pastor" Anderson needs to be shut down. The IRS can't change his mind, but it can change his actions.

Skalgard   September 8th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Chuck Silsbee   September 8th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

Obamas great friend Rev. Wright was saying things like this about Pres. Bush Pres Regan and white people in general for years why should this Pastor be treated any different???????

Sarah   September 8th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Hey Rick, try calling the pastor's church and the fire detector business to see who answers first.

Emily Hilton   September 8th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Honestly, he's probably just saying all this on camera for attention. And if not, he's just plan stupid. He's no threat, he's just insane! Put him in an insane assylum if you have to! I know, i'm just a seventeen year old girl from a small town of mattawan in michigan, but i'm not dumb. All President Obama is doing is trying to make this country a better place. He's putting basically his whole life at risk to do so. Do you see this so called 'great' pastor doing anything? Besides talk to a group of people about God? i'm not one who doesn't believe God, i'm not one who hates for no reason, i'm one who has true common sense. I can't completely explain to you how i feel about this, i'm not good at speechs or explaining things as big as this. But all i know is that people take things way too seriously and need to calm down! Racism will never leave this world. People are ignorant and down right disrespectful. Doesn't matter how your family was raised, OBVIOUSLY it's causing a problem, so shouldn't you know it's not RIGHT!???? So just stop with the childish bull, and get a life. RICK, goodjob and you've been great this past year! Keep it up.

Denise Kreps   September 8th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Rick -

Why don't we interview that Marine that stands at the Whitehouse door, like the one during the Pelosi and Reid interview. I bet he leads an interesting life and one that most of us don't think about or even see.

I bet what he has to say may be more interesting than what Congress says these days. Even when they are done talking, I don't know that they are going to do what they say, or what they say is what they meant.

Denise

Sarah   September 8th, 2009 3:58 pm ET

The church and the fire detector business have the same address, just different numbers. One is a number for the brick-and-mortar address, which is supposed to be the fire detector business, one is a fax number, and the other is what might be a cell phone number for the church itself. If a cell phone number is all that separates the business from the church, that seems to be a little weak. It would look a little suspicious to me if I worked for the IRS.

Sarah   September 8th, 2009 4:01 pm ET

The pastor probably wants to sell more fire detectors. Free publicity and commercials for his product, let alone spewing his own hateful opinions. Two for the price of one. Or the price of free.

to MARTY:
I think this "pastor" is a tool of the devil and nuts and I thought the movie Death of A President featuring the assassination of GWB was outrageous, obscene and I was totally disgusted by it. The POTUS is more than any individual. No matter what you feel about the President, there is a certain amount of respect the office holder should expect. To wish death to the President means you wish instability to our country and misery to millions. What kind of christian is that???

Blaine   September 8th, 2009 4:11 pm ET

I am a 50-yr old female working my Masters degree and I was inspired by Pres Obama's speech to students. His speech did not include any political overtones or persuasions that would give parents a reason to deny their children the opportunity to hear a speech from their President of U.S., stressing the importance of education and encouraging their future aspirations. I am sure that many can attest that there would have been no reservations had this speech been delivered by the former president.

As for the ignorant pastor, he's just another nobody seeking fame and fortune by trying to incite the masses. The only attention that should be focused on this white trash is by the Secret Service. The media should not lend any credence to his bigotry. This is a classic example of white people still donning their white hoods and sheets and claiming they are christians.

gwatkins   September 8th, 2009 4:19 pm ET

Rick ,I can't believe anyone is so ignorant and bigot, what was her reason for taking her child out of school? I listened to her, and yet it didn't make sense of her reason. Just because the President spoke to the children. NO"

JoAnna   September 8th, 2009 4:22 pm ET

I want to know who (name names please) are the blue dog Dems that are blocking the Health Care bill from going thru? With a majority in Congress, this should not be hard to do. So, I want to know who America can blame if this turns out to be a watered down version of what we really want–just to satisfy a few extreme right. The majority of Americans voted for this President based on his campaign for a public option in health care reform and the majority still want it. Majority rules; stop letting a few speak for the majority! Names please of the blue dog Dems who haven't got the guts to do what is right for the MAJORITY of Americans. And if you would investigate further-I would like to know what loyalties, if any, they have to the health insurance industry.

Skalgard   September 8th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

Hi Rick I would like to see Somebody do a story on the right-wing bookselling ponzi-scheme that is Regnery Publishing. This is a huge story that is virtually unknown.

rwatt   September 8th, 2009 4:39 pm ET

Rick,
Initially I applauded the CNN exposure to the pastor who states he prays for the presidents death. This lead to his parishoners to rethink his leadership with the protests outside. Job well done, but... Suddenly this coverage has taken on a Ken Starresque turn. Now CNN is attempting to demonstrate a violation of this "pastor's" churches non-profit status because he is running a business from the church as well. You even made a pitch that the IRS should look into it. This comes across retalitory and makes me worried about the price of "free speech," when large media outfits, the government, and politcal parties don't like what the citizens say.

Evans   September 8th, 2009 6:28 pm ET

Rick you are doing a great job. It has come to a time when good people of the USA have to stand up and be heard. First of all, it shows that the United States is not ready nor willing to accept a person of color in a key high level position in the government. These crazies are pushing for another Civil War that includes the whole country, and they are to dumb to realize it. Can you imagine a war here like in Iraq, and if it happens they would blame it on the President because he is black. These racials now jusgt don't have their sheets on, they stand for the same as the KKK did in the 50's and 60's. Do we are good upstanding individuals have to go out a purchase a weapon to be safe from these racials. Most of this insighting starts at cable TV and Radio. Threatening the President use to be a felony, and "What is Treason" and why not many of these charged. You know what would happen if they were in Iraq, Iran, Cuba, and Russia if they conducted themselves in this manner. Before something more serious happens the government needs to make an example of someone. I can only imagine what would happen if a black man did these things when George Wallace was in power in the South. Good people have a reason to fear, they are being taken out of their safety zone and when that happens serious things happens.

Keep up the good work.

silentseeker   September 9th, 2009 2:01 pm ET

I feel sad for the people that consistently feed on the words of fear and hate. This man is so wrong for spreading and feeding hate to his congregation. He is a very evil and vile human being and I feel so sorry for him.

It really amazes me just how much that we as human beings take for granted. If only we could get rid of all the false beliefs and ideology that society as a whole has force upon us and just let our true love for each other manifest. I truly believe that one day our world will be a beautiful and peaceful place to live.

A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Albert Einstein
For those who have seen the Earth from space, and for the hundreds and perhaps thousands more who will, the experience most certainly changes your perspective. The things that we share in our world are far more valuable than those which divide us. Donald Williams
“We are all cells in the same body of humanity.”

Gary Hughes   September 9th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Rick, since the republican party don't agree wiyh President Obama on any of his plans to correct the economy or health care, Could you please air those who oppose Mr.Obama's plan with a plan of their own. Doing nothing will fix nothing. Please ask the Republicans to put aside thier underlying racism and get their asses to work to get this economy, and the country moving forward.

Gary Hughes   September 9th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

If we can keep the general public in fear the current administration will not be able to accomplish anything – Is this the republican Party policy toward Mr Obama's ideas to correct the economy or health care?

Monica Ruckett   September 9th, 2009 6:12 pm ET

I would like to send this pastor a WWJD bracelet, What Would Jesus Do, it seems that he has forgotten some things.

E. Harris   September 9th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

It amazes me that 2 side agree there is a problem, but can't agree what it is or how to fix it. This process reflects how divisive we are as a nation (old vs young, black/white, Republician/Democrat, gay/straight, rich/poor, North/South, etc). There must be compromise or the destruction of one over another, WHY? Have we not seen enough of continouse disagreement from the Middle East? Yet we as a Nation try to impose a democratic process on the rest of the world and we can't do it. We talk, but don't practice it.
I think it is time to remove all the old stuff shirts in Washington who act like brats, not children because children can usually find compromise and play together. They are an embarrasement to a civil society.

Can anyone tell me where I can read a definitive plan by those opposing (in an unpatriotic manner ) the ideas of this administration. Not their sensational racist attacks....PLANS PLEASE, I agree with your Gary.

Harry   September 10th, 2009 8:58 am ET

Jennifer   September 10th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

I love it. I can't tell you the number of times I've wanted to do it but was afraid of repercussions. Most times I just make comments about obnoxious kids loud enough that the parent hears it.
This is just one thing in a long line that people have to put up with because society no longer tells anyone that their behavior is unacceptable. Good for this guy, he may have gone a little far with physical contact with the child but he should be an example to the rest of us to let others know when their behavior is selfish & ignores what the people around them might be feeling.

CubanMom   September 10th, 2009 3:16 pm ET

People seriously need to read the Gospels!

maybe if they took the money that they give to the elected officals to get their vote, and put it towards health care maybe we would not need this health care bill
they should be ashamed of themselves

Todd   September 10th, 2009 4:27 pm ET

Hey Rick , We need to hear more about the contributions that congressmen get from lobbyist. This needs to be shown ( report on contributions to what politicain) again and again. The american people need to wake up and see that our democracy is being bought by big corporations. The report you done today was great, i wish that all of the rest of the media would have the guts to report on what you did today. I am a new follower of your reports due to the boldness you have shown. We have to take back our country from the big corporate giants and tell the politicians that they dont go to washington to pad there pockets but to service the majority of the people in the US.. I cant believe that we send our kids to fight wars so our politicains and corporations can have a bankroll party every other day. I have posted on facebook your report on the Supreme Court 1st amendent \ Corporate case. Keep up the good work and keep this report fresh in our minds......

Makes you wonder how this person can consider himself a pastor when he wants someone to die?? And doesn't God want us to Love one another ? Yet this idiot is preaching HATE. I sometimes wonder why it is that even though Obama is the president of the united states he isn't given the full respect due the office that he holds? And I am weary of the Republicans and their scare tactics, how they take something the president says and twist it around until it is a total and complete mis-statement of what was actually said. Obama has 8 years worth of things to fix plus get health care figured out, with all the things he has to make right he has to be given the time to do all of these things, give him a chance for goodness sake, yes, give him a chance even if you didn't vote for him! I would think with all the things we are facing these days as Americans that we could at least try to come together and work as team and be tolerant of the other guy and his ideas, be civil to each other even when we diagree, what is so hard about being civil and tolerant??? It's been said over and over but I think it is timeless: Together we Stand, Divided We Fall !!!!

You only see some article about Jenna Bush's wedding and the person who officiating it disliking McCain.

There are nuts on all sides of the issue, but I don't think any religious leader should be advocating for anyone's death, much less that of a national leader.

Jim Vicalvi,

I have noticed in several comments you have posted on the CNN blogs that you refer to President Obama as "obummer".

Name-calling is a common device used by people wanting to distance themselves from an opponent and dehumanize them. It somehow makes them feel less guilt for insulting other people.

I haven't used this tactic since I was a child, so it's kind of awkward for me, but I'm willing to give it a try. Here goes: Jim Vagini

Nope, wasn't quite as satisfying as I'd hoped, and I'm so ashamed for stooping to juvenile tactics, I won't even sign my real name.

The "not Jim Vi Ku" poster represents the sentiments shared by over 95% of all posters here towards you and your Ku Ku Klan fellows. I tip my hat to him/her and all who have the courage to oppose you and your terrorist gang.

You are barely literate, your grammar and lack of knowledge on the application of punctuation is ridiculous. I tend to believe that without your white (skin) you may not make it in a more equal/competitive world.

Stick to the subject and stop hurling absurd insults at people because you sound mean spirited, and not a good person for anyone to engage in a pleasant conversation.

BEING BLACK IN THE RED WHITE AND BLUE
A PEOPLE WHO HATED YOU FOR 400 YEARS,

WILL NOT LIKE YOU IN 40 YEARS…….

I REMEMBER SEGRAGATION; COLORED WATER FOUNTAINS, WHITE WATER FOUNTAINS,COLORED RESTROOMS, WHITE RESTROOMS. WHEN YOU WENT TO THE STORE TO BUY FOOD. YOU HAD TO GO AROUND BACK WITH YOUR LISTS AND THEY GAVE YOU WHAT THEY WANTED YOU TO HAVE…..I HAVE WORK ALL OF MY LIFE TO HAVE AND TO BE A BETTER PERSON.

BUT IN AMERICA NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU HAVE OR YOUR EDUCATION YOU WILL ALWAYS BE BLACK…..

I HAVE SEEN MARTIN LUTHER KING KILLED,MALCOM X

KILLED,JOHN F. KENNDY KILLED, AND ROBERT KENNDY KILLED….

I REMEMBER THE WORST THINGS IN THE HOOD WAS WINE HEADS,AND WEED HEADS….NOW WE HAVE ALL KIND OF DRUGS, AND BIG GUNS… BUT ARE WE BETTER OFF NOW IN 2008 THAN IN THE 60’S ????

I DON’T THINK SO. AMERICA SEEMS TO FORGET IN THE 50’S AND THE 60’S THE WELFARE LADY CAME AROUND AND LOOKED AROUND YOUR HOUSE AND IF THEIR WERE ANY THING THAT SAID YOU HAD A MAN LIVING WITH YOU, MARRIED OR NOT YOU WOULD LOSE YOU SUPPORT.WE HAD OUR OWN BUSINESS…

HERE IN LOUISIANA WE HAD LINCOLN BEACH,THEY HAD PONTCHARTRAIN BEACH.WE HAD PONTCHARTRAIN PARK.. WHERE THE BLACKS WITH MONEY LIVE.

I REMEMBER I WAS THE FRIST TO GO TO AN ALL WHITE SCHOOL, ON CAREER DAY THE WHITE KIDS WOULD SAY I AM GOING TO LSU. THE BLACK KIDS I AM GOING TO WORK ON THE RIVERFRONT, I AM GOING TO WORK AT THE HOTEL. I SAID I AM GOING TO BE AN ELECTRIC ENG. I WAS PUT OUT OF SCHOOL. MY FATHER HAD TO BRING ME BACK, AND HE WAS TOLD TO TELL ME THAT COLORED KIDS DID NOT DO THAT KIND OF WORK.

MY DAD ASK WHY, AND HE TOLD THEM THAT HE WAS AN ELECTRIC TECH FOR THE NAVY.

HE TOOK ME OUT OF THAT SCHOOL, AND ENROLLED ME IN ST. AUGASTINE HIGH SCHOOL.( NOW I AM AN ENG. FOR A PBS TV STATION……ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO MY HOME WAS BURNED DOWN BY THE KLU KLUX KLAN.YES THAT’S RIGHT IN THE 80’S TIL THIS DAY NO ONE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH THE CRIME.I WROTE THE WHITE HOUSE FOR 8 YEARS DURING THE CILTONS. I found the website for this church. It is an independent Baptist Church so there is no church authority over Anderson. He is it, he and his congregation. This is the same with Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, KS-independent of any denomination even thought they call themselves Baptist. Anderson's sermons can be heard on Faithful Word Baptist Church's website (no video). The hate is unbelievable-all based on angry passages found in Scripture that portray God as angry, vengeful, and jealous.

Jeremiah Wright did not preach like that. On Youtube, we heard a clip from one sermon, not the whole sermon. The clip was presented out of context in order to make a political statement against Barack Obama.

Anderson's sermon you can hear in its entirety. Anderson's title for the sermon is "Why I Hate Barack Obama".

TO JIM VIKU AND THE REST OF THE EVIL REPUBLICANS;
A MESSAGE.
Matthew 5:17-20

The Law and the Prophets
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Rick, that pastor is crazy and did you hear how he screamed, worst than a girl when the policeman broke the car window. He is just like a lot of the people who hate the president, they send someone else to do their dirty work. We know that their is a fool born every minute. And the black guy his is an idiot. And is so stupid just like the ones who where at the tea party. Just plain stupid, if they ever happen to have an opinion different than the one they have, there is going to be a problem. I've went through that when I was a teenager.

frederick   September 23rd, 2009 12:14 am ET

Rick, I heard that a petition is going around the country to forbid pastors from coming on the airways...among them is joyce meyer, joel osteen. is this fact r rumor?

Rich   September 23rd, 2009 1:43 am ET

Rick,

I love your piece on Fox News... CNN does cover the news, unless it against a democrat, and then you guys cover it very late and not objectively. The Van Jones store was not covered until late. The Tea Party story was cover late and describe the activist as far right Republicans. Campbell Brown is a complete joke and covered the presidents speech to school children but left out the part about the president pulling his resume and changing his speech, until one of your guest pointed it out to her... I am a Democrat but definitely fiscally conservative (Blue Dog Democrat). Your rating prove that people are getting tired of your skewed coverage of the news...

Logically there is no real healthcare reform in favor of the middle unless the middle has public option.

Can you just imagine the overwhelming amount of fines that will be levied against people who simply cannot afford the cost of insurance, and can you imagine the amount of fines that will go unpaid because, again, the people are not able to afford the fines either?

If this President must make a change and this change involves making it compulsory for people to join then there better be a public option.

I am not sure I would feel comfortable paying a fine for something I cannot afford (healthcare) only to have those fines used to pay for the very thing (healthcare for others) I cannot afford and was fined for in the first place.

It makes no sense, and, therefore, will lead to me and millions like me not paying those fines.

I see Public Option as the answer and if not then this is just a failed attempt at reform.

Rick:

I am a fan of your show, but I have to tell you, the special with you today on escaping from a car going under water was funny. You made it out to be like you being in a foxhole in Iraq! You were in a car attached to a hoist, an air tank in the car, roll down windows and 3 scuba Masters in the water. Not to mention the canal was probably only 3-4 feet deep. I live in south FL. This is a serious issue and something everyone needs to be aware of, but it was just so funny how you mentioned you were scared and would never do this again. funny.

rocky davis   September 23rd, 2009 3:34 pm ET

We do not need a u turn foreign affairs policy. Out of Iraq and into Afghan.

Joleen Klocke   September 23rd, 2009 3:35 pm ET

This pastor, if you can call him one, is sick and already has a cancer in his brain. Anyone in his right mind is not so full of hate as this man is. He is scary and his followers should take a second look at him!!

Hey Rick
Commenting about Ghadafi’s ability to bring peace to African war-torn countries, Roland Martin mentioned Senegal.
Tell him that Senegal has always been a peaceful country, where political shift has always been achieved through elections. You can’t compare Senegal with many other African countries where political powers have been overthrown by the military.
Thanks for your great job at CNN
All the best

Thank you for your report on exiting a submerging car. Though I have heard the basics before, no one ever mentioned what to do with electric windows/doors. I have wanted to know if it was going to be a race to get the window down before it quit working. I am SO GLAD you mentioned that the electrics should still work. THANX AGAIN!

Cleeve   September 23rd, 2009 4:41 pm ET

Hello Rick,
I consider myself and all Africans insulted by Roland Martin when he said that the thug Ghadafi speaks for the African continent. Ghadafi is Chair of the African Union because the position is rotational. Ghadafi trained and initiated war in Sierra Leone because he wanted to steal their diamonds. He also fan the war in Liberia, because he wanted to use Liberia to get into Sierra Leone. He was the one supplying the arms for the wars.
Be careful what you say about Africa. Africa is a complex continent. Black Africans do not usually like to do business with Arab Africans, therefore no black African country will take Ghadafi seriously.
Rick, keep up the good job. You are good.
Cleeve.

No chance of that happening,he probably hasn't lost
any members and has gained approval from the haters
and extremists in the media and elsewhere.

Hi Rick:

Thank you Rick for being a guy who stands up for the truth and be able to call on people, like Sen. Demented of the infamous S. Carolina. I have to also give some credit to Jack Cafferty and Anderson Cooper sometimes. Rest of the crew are nort worth mentioning. Your interview with Sen. Demented won kudos from Jon Stewart.

The U.S. media is pathetic. The F network is the mouthpiece of GOP and creates rancor amongst the people. The so called tea party was organized by the F-network, as Cafferty calls it. It was so evident when Glen Beck, Greta, Hennity and others took part in it and they were so blatent.

The GOP leaders claim they are also for healthcare reform because that is a convenient posture which will serve as a cover for protecting the GOP financiers, the health care industry. They use lies, fear and all other tecchniques to subvert any meaningful healthcare reform.

Nobody, David Gregory, George, Wolf, bob or John called on their sincerity. They controlled both houses for most of 1994-2006. The problems associated with US healthcare is not new.

Nobody in the media asked any Republican senator or congressman "how come they did nothing during those years".

Nobody asked them "how they can claim to be for medicare recipients now, when the GOP under Newt, little croc, wanted to cut medicare and social security payments to seniors by $800 billion to give tax cut to the wealthy folks".

The US media is so bad that I have to get any real information from the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks
K. Ganesan

I was pleased to see you call Israeli Prime Minister Net n yahoo "crazy". It is long overdue that somebody in the news media recognized that he is a master manipulator. Why doesn't anyone ask him what he plans to do with the hundreds of nuclear weapons the Israelis have built? If anyone is a threat to peace in the Middle East it is the Israelis who have a record of invading their neighbors and wantonly murdering Palestinian women and children. Israel's possession of nuclear weapons gives every other Arab state the right to have nuclear weapons of their own in order to protect themselves from future Israeli military strikes. Why doesn't CNN do any news reports like those done by the BBC, which has been exposing the the criminal activities of the Israelis for many years?

First of all, I have to say this; Many Church leader will be accounted for followers' sin. Because they are well respected by their Church members to the extent of brainwashing them easily. I'm a Muslim, and in the Qur'an or Bible, there's no place where Jesus was known as a leader who gave hate doctrines. Why in the World are we having all these people as leaders in the Church of God. Where in the bible did Jesus says he wanted someone to die.
All judgments belong to God according to my religion. Man of God should be more tolerance, peaceful, hopeful, and mostly, God fearing in their doctrines. Any day I go to my mosque and I hear any hate speech from my priest, that will be my last day at that mosque.
There should be a law against whoever talk about President assassination should be arrested and prosecuted. It doesn't matter if that President is Republican or Democrat. If any Democrat citizen criticize the President with death statement, the person should be arrested and prosecuted. Same applies to Republican citizen too. I don't know when hatred and racism was injected into ministry of God.
