Rick Sanchez is on vacation, dear blog readers. Back on THURSDAY! In the meantime, enjoy the mellow sounds of T.J. Holmes, filling in from 3-4 PM.

And to sate your desire for anything Sanchezian, here's an often-requested picture of Rick's socks, extremely dirty shoes, and deep-sleeping producer Chris Hall. Enjoy.

Oh, Rick...where are you?

Hi Rick! I really enjoy watching your show. But, there is something that bothers me very much. All the talk about how much, we the citizens of this country, spend money on medical insurances, etc. You do not have to be very smart to know, we are supporting all the medical care of people that are in the United States illegally!!! We provide them with food stamps, medical services, shelter!! and education!! Has anyone asked us for permission to do so? This country is for the people, us! If these people, who want to have a better life for their families, stay for those many reasons, make them pay taxes!! But no, all their winnings go back to their countries. We are not protecting our country ,but allowing the defficit to triple, and the promise of lower taxes, what about it?? Rick, you can maybe tell me and explain this mess. I do thank you for your attention to my note.

CeCe   July 28th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

I agree Edna. I think Immigration Reform is a MUST in this country! I am all for others coming to this country but it has to be done the right way. If you want to get the benefits of this country, you should be a citizen of this country.......it's only fair!!!

John A. Capps   July 28th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

I just watched the President AARP town hall meeting, then Listened to Rep Eric Cantor. I saw Rep Eric Cantor misrepresent the Presidents position several times. Why do you allow that type of misrepresentation to go un-challenged?

JK   July 28th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

After 20 years in the health insurance industry I'm quite confident that if the public option is cut out of the healthcare act costs will never be lowered. Why should the insurance companies lower premiums, they are making record profits.

Connie in Calgary   July 28th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Moving towards a better regulated, better accountable system that is closer to a single-payor system is going to benefit everyone in the US. It really is as simple as that.

And 'cause you all like real-life examples, here's one for ya. During a recent visit to the US, my mother had to go to an emerg clinic and was prescribed antibiotics. That one visit, consultation and small prescription cost something like $1400 Cdn (around $1100.00 US) plus the cost of filling the prescription! The same visit & consult in Canada actually costs a third of that!!! Or less! And, the invoice sent to AHIP from the American clinic was insufficient in outlining the medical services rendered as part of the consult, so of course it's taken months to completely pay the bill.

Now, tell me.....if Americans knew how much simpler and better and cheaper and just – overall how-much-less-worry the Canadian system is...would Americans continue to drag their feet on health care reform? The Canadian system costs much less than the American system: our outcomes/$ are much better at either the individual or aggregate level. Those are genuinely the facts.

Mario Skinder   July 28th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Health care.
I am following ther AARP metting with pres. Abama. The only fair medicare coverage for all Americans. Should be the same as the Congressman and other branches of Gov. Branches have. The Gov. employees are Americans as we are. We Americans should be united as the American people. Same cost for of coverage should be based on income similar to congressmen. There is nly thing is brought for vote on health of cov. Yes or No and than go and enjoy your vacation.

Jean   July 28th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

I like that. O Sanchez where art thou? Amusingly, it brought to mind words of a religious song (not of my religion) which I heard as a child. You know in Holy Scripture, The Book of Genesis – The Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve, when the evil one approached them and caused them to sin. A few words: And God asked, "Adam where art thou?" The response is: "I'm hiding from my Lord."
Hope you are able to share this with Rick, not necessarily your readers. Hope, too, that Rick is having an enjoyable and restful time.

Lora McLeran   July 28th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

We elected Pres. Obama because he wants to change our health care system, among other things. Why won't Congress support him and implement what we voted for? We need a public option. I don't know anyone who is on Medicare that complains. This is a government run plan. We need a public health care option. Who is congress really working for?

Tula in South Carolina   July 28th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

We ABSOLUTELY need Healthcare reform. Please help me stress to everyone in Congress to participate vigorously and seriously in this process. The other day on CNN, I heard a Senator complain that a National Plan would hurt the insurance industry because they could not compete!! It this absurd or what? Does this not tell us that the insurance industry has totally and shamefully robbed every person in this country? Yet, they fight us all the way when it comes to reimbursement and are qiuck to deny services or payment. Who cares if they can't compete! Maybe then, they would finally lower their premium rates to a reasonable level. Pesonally, I cannot understand why anyone would want to keep their current plan, if and when a National Healthcare Plan is established.

Brenda Wilson   July 28th, 2009 3:35 pm ET

Ask Congress to give up their Healthcare.
When they need Medication pay cash.
When the need Surgery pay Cash.
When they are told to go to another
hospital because they don't have Insurance.
How long will it take to pass the Health
Care Bill?

Lora McLeran   July 28th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

I really, really want to know who our congress is working for. They are not working for us. Is it the insurance companies? Drug companies? Who?

Texacana   July 28th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

I am happy about the reinstatement of Michael Vick in the NFL. He deserves a second chance and has paid his debt to society. He made a bad mistake but we must forgive him and give Michael the opportunity to resume his career as a NFL player.

Bob Frick   July 28th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

If you think Michael Vick should be reinstated, just read the Code of Conduct for NFL players. After reading it, if you think he meets that criteria, you have real "issues" and should seek immediate help. The same goes for the Baseball Hall of Fame and Pete Rose. Great player, stats say it's a slam dunk, character flaw saws he should be banned for life (like 13 others who got caught gambling on baseball).
A great athlete like Vick had his chance, lied to the Commissioner, killed dogs, and ran a high stakes gambling operation on property bought explicitly for that purpose. He didn't just "make a mistake", he made conscious decisions over year and years, from high school, through college, and into the pros.

Glynn Thomas   July 28th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Rick , I have lived in the States for 25years ,but I am from England and have a large family back there , and I wish we had their system of healthcare .If you are sick you get great care , if you have something that is not urgent ,you may have to wait for a few weeks to get it dealt with [ determined by doctor not insurance co ] thays OK .
Here you are OK if you are wealthy and you can afford care [ like our politicians ] you are Ok ......we must have the public option .Maybe we tell the politicians who work on our behalf , that their healthcare will be stopped if they don't vote for what their constituents want [ 72% want the public option ] .

G Brown   July 28th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Vick is a convicted felon. If that still means he looses the right to vote. Shouldn't that tell you that he should loose the right to play football. I think the NFL is only concerned in making money!

c. watkins   July 28th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

RE: Michael Vick

I think Michael Vick has served his time for the crime he was convicted. I can understand all of the animal lovers out there but let's put things in perspective. I'm sure he has prayed to God and asked for forgiveness. Some people have more mercy for murderers! Let the man show his forgiveness and give him his job back. I hope one of the teams that really need a quarterback pick Michael Vick up and let him work his way back into his role. People are so harsh these days. They can forgive a child killer but not someone who was involved in dog fighting – what a world!!!

Mel Clarke   July 28th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Hey, what's all the hype about? Martha came back and is doing just fine!

Troy Mikels (Social Worker)   July 28th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Regarding Michael Vick,

don't humans treat people like animals with respect that football players are physically abused from years of physical torture and then left to the human wasteland after they retire with agonizing pains. This is ironic when compared to how humans are also exploited just for others to make money.

No One   July 28th, 2009 4:04 pm ET

It is great to see that you can be convicted and go to prison in America and it does not hurt your career/social standing, or ability to make money....thank you Michael Vick, Paris Hilton, Martha Stewart

Arnater Martin   July 28th, 2009 4:09 pm ET

I think it should be ok for Michael Vick to return to work. Many people have gone to jail and have returned back to there professions (Martha Stewart).

M. Chalmers   July 28th, 2009 4:11 pm ET

On the subject of Michael Vick, how can people or the industry be so judgemental on him? The othe football player was drunk driving, hit a pedestrian, killed him and is getting off with a slap on the hand, so to speak. Michael Vick is getting the raw end of the deal. Being made to basically "jump through hoops", e went to jail served his time now has to working a job for $9.00-$10.00 an hour, for killing dogs, and the other guy killed a human being and is getting probation, community service!! Dogs mass produce almost daily!! I am an animal lover, but it seems a little one sided to me, that soceity has put the value of a dog, over the value of a human life. That's all I'm saying.

jonathan from bklyn. n.y.   July 28th, 2009 4:13 pm ET

about mr. vick he did his time, so what,s the big deal! I am a big dog lover,But my love for humans is much deeper

Linda   July 28th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

Hi Rick how can NFL or a team consider letting Michael Vick
play ever? Our youth looks up to sports team members as heroes
is this the kind of member we want our youth looking up to?
Second we are also sending a message that it is OK to commit
a crime you will get a slap & all is forgotten. PLEASE!
What about some of former athletes that has been stripped of their
medal or took out of the hall of fame. To me Michael Vick crime
was cruel & I wonder what other cruelty he might commit.
Michael Vick needs to find a new career. Hopefull servicing
communities.

No One   July 28th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

It does not matter what crime was committed, but the issue is a crime was committed! We have laws and if you choose to break them you deserve punishment. You should not be able to return to a job where millions of children watch every week. What example does that set? It tells young African American boys all over America "it is ok!" just commit any crime you want........then after you are done, serve your time. Boom! just say "i'm sorry." Then you can just forget it happened.

No One   July 28th, 2009 5:08 pm ET

If Michael Vick was working a job getting $9.00-10.00 per hour that is because he has no skills that are marketable in today's work place. Imagine if he had not committed a crime but rather he blew out his knee. He would have been doing the same job making $9.00-10.00 per hour.

A Health Care Proposal for HMO,s

Instead of offering the American citizens a low cost government controlled health care program this administration offers us high cost health care insurance that is controlled by HMO's, plus an 800 billion dollar cut in Medicare expenditures over eight years. This proposal program is so good for big business that one HMO and one pharmaceutical company are promoting the proposal on TV.

fairbanks66   July 29th, 2009 9:16 am ET

Well judge, he "attacked" me with loud Words.

fairbanks66   July 29th, 2009 9:20 am ET

The words "thin skin" applies to troopers, sheriffs, and police when
they arrest a 60+ year old man for yelling at them(him).

No One   July 29th, 2009 1:03 pm ET

Citizens should have respect for the police especially when those police are coming to your house to foil a suspected break in. Those police were doing their job of protecting and serving and all that they got in return was an African American man steeped in the prejudice of the equal rights movement spitting disrespect.

No One   July 29th, 2009 1:06 pm ET

I am sure if the police came to the home of a white man breaking in to his own home and he launched into a soliloquy of fould language and disrespect. I'm sure the police would have taken him.

No One   July 29th, 2009 1:13 pm ET

If there is any racism here it is on the part of Gates. The police came to his home to stop a man from kicking down the door. They had received a call from a concerned neighbor. Gates automatically assumed it was because he was black. This is a clear instance of 8th Amendment in action. The police were called to an emergency and they responded. If they had not it would have been a case of Failure to Protect under the 8th Amendment. If someone had not called and there really was a break in at Gates's home he would have said it was because of race. The police did come and he says it was race. No matter the police's response he would have responded it was because of race.

Hi Rick,
I am very concerned that the media is not concentrating on the fact that Sgt Crowley said in his report that it was two black men. If the caller did not give him such an information where did that come from?
We might be concentrating on racism here but I see more police abuse of power. Keep up the good work Rick

Sasha   July 29th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

In listening to the tape finally released earlier in the week:
Whoever that caller was who called the report in did nothing wrong. I dont know why people are on her back but knowing people as I do as a psychologist I guess I should not be surprised. The person who answered her call asked at one time black or hispanic to which she replied nothing because she obviously didnt catch it. Why would he ask that? I think everyone who listened to that tape missed that except maybe me . If anyone might be a racist its whoever answered her call in to the police station.
Someone needs to ask why he would specify that. The whole thing is so fishy.

I am 63 years old and have been told I will need a hip replacement in the future. Do I need to get this hip procedure done now because later someone may decide I am too old to have a costly procedure that will improve my life?
All agree that reform is needed but why ram it through before it is read or understood just because it is felt that the more it is discussed the less likely it will be passed.
How about working to make the bill better:
-Ability to buy insurance across state lines
-Work to make the models of Mayo and Cleveland Clinic more prevalent
-Offer prevention procedures at the Walmarts, KMarts, CVS, Walgreens of the world at low prices with government support to those say"on food stamps" to show need
-Actually work on torte reform – even though majority of our elected officials are lawyers
etc.
Why can't we take the time and draft a good bill!

Terry Hunsucker   July 30th, 2009 8:14 am ET

What kind of message are we sending to the young people of America and the world, that the way to mediate differences is to have a few beers. President Obama was way out of line to comment on the Gates issue, and he is way out of line in suggesting that the issue be mediated with the use of alcohol.

JB   July 30th, 2009 1:01 pm ET

Hey Rick, when you come back here are 2 stories you need to address. Let's see if you are a reporter and not a promoter.

1) The New Black Panther party being let go by Our AG, a black man, Holder. If white men were threatening black voters as they went to vote for Obama, that story would be on the frontpage everyday. And yet, black men ca threaten white voters and the AG lets get away with it. I find that alarming and interesting.

2) Obama's relationship with Acorn, and Acorn and the many off shoots of Acorn, and their goals. SIEU was founded by a man and a woman who's stated goals are to bring down the government. Obama has stated many times he consults with SEIU before he debates anything. Sounds concerning to me.

Legacy   July 30th, 2009 1:04 pm ET

Hey Rick,

Considering that at first everyone took the police report for the Skip Gates Gate as Gospel.

I'm a bit curious... After the press confrence by the 911caller why is it that No One will talk about the Central Issue...

Since when do police officers write events in their Official Police Report that didn't happen? Is that Protocol?
If the reference to the "two black males with backpacks." was made up, then you have to question the entire Official Police Report. It's that sipmle...
Either he lied or he imagined it. Officers that lie on Official Police Reports should be Fired. Officers that imagine events that didn't take place Should not be on the Force.

Jerry   July 30th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

Rick,
If we are to believe the lady who reported this incident at Prof. Gates' house, then why did it end up in Crowley's report as two black men with back packs. Someone, probably with racist feelings, injected racial profiling into this equation. There is more likely to be a different reponse from a responding white police officer (not all) in adrenalin mode who believes two black men with back packs are breaking into a house in an upscale neighborhood.

Rick,
I would like to know if all Government employees, including elected officials, will be required to participate in the Heath Care Program currently making it's way through Congress. I believe the only way we can trust Congress and the President to develop a viable Health Care program that will take care of all of us is to REQUIRE each of them to participate in the program. Only after Congress and the President eliminates their existing Heath Care Programs and the current Government workers Health Care Programs and are required to join the Health Care Program making it's way through Congress will I feel satisfied that we will be getting a satisfactory Health Care Program.

I believe we all should ask our Representatives and Senators where they stand on this question.

jack   July 30th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Rick,
Not one member of the media that I've heard has taken any blame for the flap between Gates the police and the Pres. If the general public had been poled on the same day the president made his statement, most would have said something similiar. All the news coming out until then made it look as tho the police were inept. Did the Pres mis-step? Of course. Should he have waited? Yes. But be honest – the media had said nothing to indicate that the police may have gotten it right.. It was reported as tho they were "stupid". Far too much has been made of the Pres's comment and the press must take some of the blame.

Dear Rick Sanchez Hopefully you will get this note A Mr. Glenn Garvin of the Miami Herald wrote on health reform Pay-or-play means more jobs lost.He goes on to say that jobs will be lost if the reform goes through. That was on July 28,2009 . He failed to tell the Miami Herald readers that the news paper has out sourced their newspaper lines , thats purchasing or problems with your newspaper to the Philipines and Columbia, shame on them also Rick they want to pass a law prohibiting health reform in this state they should pass a law that American jobs cannot be out sourced to other countries THank You Palma Amaro Miami Fl.

The gent "No One" is right on the mney. Gates is at fault. I hope the police never again respond to his home for anything.
Hey Gates have you ever heard of the "Little Boy That Cried Wolf" to many times. Well buddy, your it.

Miriam Horta   July 31st, 2009 3:41 pm ET

Rick:

Officer Barrett sent a private e-mail on a private computer. He should not be fired for expressing his views on the Gates issue if it was done privately. We live in the U.S. where there is freedom of expression. Many times we all speak and say things that are not understood as we intended them to be understood. Why should we buckle up to people who make a race-issue out of everything.
Officer Barrett served his country and did a tour of Iraq in 2005 as well as being a captain in the National Guards. He is also protecting us as a police officer. The person who should be fired is the one who betrayed him.

Hey Rick
When you get back, please help every POW MIA’s family by sharijng the story of Evy Grubb and the founding members of The National League of Families POW MIA.
The Scott Speicher story breaking today...is every military families horror.
I just read, “You Are Not Forgotten,” Foreword by Henry Kissinger, it details the founding of this League, and reveals a record of history during the 1970’s and the Vietnam War that I did not know.
What these POW/MIA wives and mothers, endured and accomplished is simply amazing. Not only did these women petition the United Nations regarding the Geneva Conventions, they also created the POW/MIA flag as their banner and motto.
Thank god for Scott’s family….there are thousands of families still suffering, not knowing…let’s not forget them.

Jim Bridge   August 2nd, 2009 9:36 pm ET

Dear Rick Sanchez I am jim bridge born and raised in vancouver B.C. Canada. Rick GMjust so the American will not be deceived I hope to share a few truths about the health care system across Canada for the most part . We in Canada all contribute by law into our Canadian health care system. For instance I retired in 2005 at the age of 60 years old. I was required by law to contribute into our health care system with one dependent at the time. I payed over 90 dollars a month in 2005. As a single man with no dependents I payed 54 dollars per month because I Made over 28 thousand dollars. When my income went under that amount I am paying less until I WOULD

michael   August 2nd, 2009 11:30 pm ET

Hey Rick
Scott Speicher MIA, his story, his family...wow!
It parallels the families I read about in “You Are Not Forgotten,” sad, powerful, and very inspiring!
Did you know it was a group of women who commissioned and created the POW MIA Flag? I didn't.
I thought Henry Kissinger’s foreword was very enlightening.
Now every time I now see the POW MIA flag I have a better understanding.
Thank you all POW MIA families for your sacrifice...I will never forget!

Rick,

Today's Mc Cainism was the capper. Will they ever learn? Sotomayor will be the first Latina, but not the first of Hispanic origin to be on the Supreme Court. Judge Benjamin Cardozo was a Sephardic Jew and could trace his ancestry back to Spain in the fifteenth century or before. The Inquisition changed all of that but his Hispanic DNA is solid. Thought you would appreciate this blog. Let me know if you'd like more info.

Mrs. Mayes   August 5th, 2009 9:35 am ET

The police LIE a lot of times on their police reports and I know this for a fact. Just like in the Mr. Gates incident the lady said she did not say anytthing about two black men with backpacks just like they lied about that they probably lied about the rest of it. The police misuse their power with black people all the time and they do not give black people the same respect they give white people. The police did act stupidly in the Mr. Gates incident. The president had a right to give his opinion when asked a question. He said on what he had heard the police acted stupidly. The President have a right to say who is right or wrong whether they are black or white with out people saying he is taking sides. You and all the media have no problem printing or saying or showing anything no matter how wrong or bad it sound about Mr. Michael Jackson and his family members and you have not heard both sides, why all of sudden you need to hear both sides about the President. I know for a fact you are lying on Mr. Joe Jackson many times. STOP CHILD ABUSING MR. MICHAEL JACKSON'S CHILDREN IN THE MEDIA! IT IS A SHAME THE HORRIBLE THINGS YOU ARE SHOWING AND SAYING ABOUT THEIR FATHER AND FAMILY AND YOU DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS TRUE OR NOT. YOU ARE NOT CONCERN ABOUT HIS CHILDREN JUST YOUR RATINGS. YOU WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW WHEN YOU HURT CHILDREN OR ANYONE GOD SAYS! THE CHILDREN KNOW WHO THEIR DADDY IS ! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE YOUR PICTURE BETWEEEN TWO MEN ON NATIONAL TV ASKING WHICH ONE IS YOUR DADDY WHEN YOU ALL READY KNOW WHO YOUR DADDY IS? STOP LYING ON MR. JOE JACKSON AND PUTTNG WORDS IN HIS MOUTH, HE IS A GREAT FATHER WHO TOOK GOOD CARE OF HIS FAMILY AND THE FAMILY WILL IS NONE OF MEIDA BUSINESS!

Chevy   August 6th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

I wanted to know why you Rick, who basically said that the officer in Cambridge Mass was an upstanding guy. Are not eating your words now that the fact that he lied on his police report was made public..?

What gives..? be a man and say he is just like most police in amarica when it come to race...profiler...biased to a fault....it just teh facts!!!

This should have been a chance to address change, it's business as usual with the media. Cover It when it puts balcks in a bad light....do nothing when it shows that the police are just what we say they are..a gang of racist..biased...blind.....self serving...butt heads....and to be fair...I have met some very fine police...that were examples of humanity...but in this case....if it quacks like a duck..it just might be a duck RICK!!!!

Cash For Clunkers
Our trusted congressional representatives have come up with yet another Cash For Clunkers program in trying to stimulate our economy. This time we have moved up from Automobiles to Luxury Corporate Jets for congressional use. This is a well deserved program for our members of congress. They cannot be expected to fly around in last year's model of luxury jets down to Mexico to work out details on healthcare for next year's illegal aliens coming into our country. American ho's will not accompany our officials in business trips around the world without first class working conditions. More importantly can you imagine flying over to your bank in china to borrow another trillion or even a few billion or so in an old clunker. Our grandchildren who will be paying for these jets have expressed no objections whatsoever so congress is doing their will. I believe it would send a positive message to our automotive industry should congress donate their old used luxury jets to the automotive CEO'S that flew jets into Washington to borrow money from congress last year. Our congressman will be able to hold their heads high with new Ho's flying over in new jets to china to borrow new money this year. The American dream lives on.

Rick Sanchez did an interview with a guy who was XXX Scott recently.
I would like Rick to take a look at all the Medicare and Medicaid guidelines that hospitals have to follow. They are mammoth and the staffing it takes to keep to code costs money. Fraud covers a wide range of things. And we should look at the specifics and not make sweeping statements.
The gov. does not adhere to it's own policies.
I am a nurse doing home care for medicaid. The gov. doesn't even take the taxes out of my paycheck like other employees have to. I have to do that. Do I think they will adhere to their own policies, no!
There is no tort reform in this bill.
Will we be able to sue the gov. like the VA hospital patients cannot?
Their VA care stinks.
And I think your talking to the healthy percent of Canada and England.
Bottom line. No system is perfect, but a beauracratic one is worse. Waste, fraud, abuse, and there will be rationing. Yes, there is a price on a person and their health. That is reality. And there is only so much money. We are already in debt. There are reforms and bank account health accounts out there that won'd drive up our debt. Mass. tried socialized medicine-gave up, Hawaii had to give up on it's universal health care in 8 months. Everywhere it's been tried, it's failed the patients. Not the population that are not sick.
Take a look at the regs. a hosp must pass. Take a look at tort reform. These are all costs to cover your butt and be compliant with gov . regulations. If we could just get back to patient care and not have to fill out all this paperwork in triplicate, then we'd all be better off. We could take that money and pay the nurses better.
Apparently Rick likes to demonize the businessman and the entrepreneur. Utilization of resources. NOt all hosp. can have an MRI/Cat scan. Cost of compliance is a tax on small and big business. Rick needs to try to look at things from a businessman's perspective.
Maybe hospitals should be nonprofit, but maybe that can be done via educated choices about where to go..the public. Not everything has to be mandated by the big brother gov. Identify those in your area. promote those if you feel the need. Don't demonize and scapegoat everything. WE are genuinely concerned about the future of our health care. Stop mocking concerned citizens and start being specific and following actions and legislation to their conclusions with reality, not fairy tales. Obama hates specifics. He thinks we're a bunch of dumb rocks.
We live in an imperfect world. This guy Scott has done some good. Have you looked at the whole picture and what others like him are doing and compared him with his peers? In my opinion, the world will be more imperfect if gov. is also in charge of my health care.

You journalists, really need to handle such delicate issues less one sided and incomplete thoughts/ wholeness lacks. Your bias comes out. If thinking people object. Do you think that mocking us or them will make them agree?
Capitalism is what makes us great. We are exceptional with tax and legislative shackles now and more to come. There is already a redistriblution of income going on before Obama took office. We have dreams and goals and taxes make us less able to fullfill them.
We are past the age of enlightenment and the renaissance, but I see men and women in office and journalism who don't with an open mind look into history and world systems/problem solving to find answers to how to deal with the state we're in. We are in a recession, so spend/grow gov.? That makes no sense. We can barely afford gov. Do you really know all the taxes we pay or are you so out of touch. I know our congress is. All those perks and a salary we'll pay to the day they die.
I want to travel. I want to retire unburden to my children. I want to send them to college. I want my daughter's teeth to get straightened. I need a new roof and my siding painted. I want a turnaround drive for all our guests so they don't have to park on the street. I want to keep more of what I earn and I want less tax and regulation. Who knows, I might start a business. I've got lot's of ideas and am crafty with wood, but I can't rap my head around regulations. Why can't we just have a simple flat tax?
The cause of all this..I see no jail time for Franklin Raines, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and many others. They are above the law? Madoff has nothing on these guys for bringing down the world a few notches. I am sure the world is happy with Obama for covering them up. Maybe the democrat party needs to do a complete investigation of itself.
You selectively stifle news and other things you nag on about. The important stuff is swept under the rug. Want to investigate Bush, Obama won't do it, because he has broken a number himself and it's looking out for you fellow guy even if he is across the isle. Obama gives us no hope and there is definitely no change in this admininistration from the last. In fact it's Bush to the power of 3. I've Had enough and he hasn't even been in for a year.
Can't wait till 2010

Hey Rick, You have fans, the worst mistake MSNBC made was letting you go. I don't think my remote control has even passed by that channel since you left. If they are so bad at realizing talent? Why would I trust their news stories? I might as well watch FOX! What I don't like about CNN is that they ignore their daytime people! I think Kyra is a fantastic starter and then you come in and close the game! This is where I get my news, she's a knockout and you, well, I feel like a friend of mine is telling me what I need to hear and CNN should advertise your program and hers by name, not just newsroom. I hope you get ratings for DVR's, I think a lot of people see you both after your shows have ended. I called in the other day to voice my opinion but realized it was 3:00 am and laughed. Actually, I felt real stupid! Keep it up my friend and remember, you have 24 hour fans as I'm sure Kyra does also!

Rick,
Seems that Obamas chickens have come home to roost! Funny how Pelosi and Reed loved stacking a house with crooks from ACORN and SEIU, but when a regular citizen DARES to oppose Obama and his Fascists clowns, he or she is immediately villified as a Racist!!!!!!!!!

The Chicago thugs and their Democrat surrogates started this politics of screaming. Seems only a matter of fair play that they now get what they previously dished out!

svb   August 7th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

Rick,

You sir, are not a journalist. YOu are 1 one of the reasons that most Americans not just dislike but despise the media. If you would eliminate your bias and be objective in your views I would certainly listen to your program. I attempted in the past 2 weeks to listen to differing sources so that I could insure that I was getting unbiased view. That is certainly not the case with your program.

Because you have not served the US country in any capacity, I do not feel you have the right to discuss the loss of one of our brave men. I will not listen to your distortions any longer.

Rick
i saw you to day keep on calling mob protest but Rick they are people with grievences not mob! Nancy Pelosi proved stupid to twist the meaning of Swastik displayed. Swatick displayed is shown as a symbol of Obama's facism policy about healthcare and not as support to Swastik ! now I know how democratic twist every thing they don't like! don't forget this is democracy and as a journalist you should not be biased!

Doug Anderson   August 7th, 2009 3:40 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez,
Your balant bias on this subject is so obvious anybody with one eye and half a brain can see right through you. All you did was talk about Mr. Scott's supposed failings. Why don't you just talk about the merrits of the message instead of trying to muddy the messenger. If we looked into your closet, I bet we could find many shortcomings as well. And Mr Scott answered each of your questions with factual evidence and dignity while you just tried to stir up some anger! But I'm sure that was Mr. Emmelts standing marching order of the day.

Rick Sanchez-
You personify the left-wing biased media. You are so arrogant as to suggest that town hall attendees who would disagree with Mr. Obama's health care agenda must be planted by special interests or the FOX network. Wake up, pour out your remaining cool-aid and look objectively at popular opinion, not just your opinion.

A.W. Vermillion   August 7th, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Rick,

I just watched the Video you had with the former CEO of the large hospital group HCA. I have had first hand knowledge of how HCA bought out small hospitals and closed them. I worked at two of them. I never saw any improvement by them using this method.

I am now retired and use a small hospital in a small town that has excellent Doctors and Facilities. I use Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos Texas. I find much better care here than in larger hospitals.

I would also like to comment on the claim that these protest are staged. Some people may be listening to this guy, that is their right. I attended one of these. I was not contacted by anyone, but when I arrived there were about 200 people there. The Congressman who held this meeting had placed a notice in the local paper and as far as I could find out the other people there were like myself. They wanted questions answered. When the Congressman brushed all qufestions away and wanted only to talk about what he had done for the county is when it got ugly. Had he been straight forward and at least tried to answer the questions there would have been no trouble.

I am a Democrat and have been since 1959 and I am angry that the Democrats are calling me names like Astro-turf ect. Pelosi's claim that these are staged is false. She like our Congressman should be straight forward with the voters and they might not have to try to push bills through before the public is aware of what is going on.

Tom Sullivan   August 7th, 2009 4:03 pm ET

Rick,
For two days you've announced a story about racist cops and their emails about Pres. Obama.
Where is it?
Will we see it on Monday? Why announce it if you aren't going to share.
Or when?

Hi Rick

Ask these people who don't want health care reform what they are going to do if they lose their health care due to horific illiness and they lose everything will they be crying to the government for help?? After 4 months of chemo for cancer my husband owed $4000 in access charges and the hospital would not treat him, he went of f his treatments, he was dead 3 months later. PBS had a program on about government ran health care about 2 yrs ago. Japan, Twain, Germany and several other European countries. They all were working very well with no waiting lists. Why doesn't this government investigate how they are doing it. The government doesn't rule the USA it's the lobbyist who have congress in their pockets.Wake up America.

John Healy   August 7th, 2009 5:45 pm ET

I continually hear a on your station indicats that Canadians are not satisfied with their government run Health Care. This is untrue! You can always find someone who is unsatisfied with their treatment regardless of the system – and you seem to have found them.

We are very pleased with our system. We do not have a cast system where those who can afford it and those who can't get different treatments. All Canadians that I know are proud that we are able to look after our unfortunate brethern.

Yes, there was a tax penalty and we noticed it when the plan started, but like anything else we have become accustomed to the tax level and have adjusted our lifestyles. The benefit we get is well worth any cost or issues that some may think there is.

We would fight extremely hard to retain our system if anyone even suggested that they wanted to remove it. No Canadian government would even contemplate such a thing.

Norman Bartel   August 11th, 2009 2:06 pm ET

Rick, I would hope you would replace Wolfe as he does notdiscuss nor settle an issue as you do. Your interview with Rick Scott should have been broadcast from all major news outlet like 60 minutes and the 3 major news networks. That interview explains a lot to us as citizens. It shows how power money keeps the best from us by scaring us with lies. Norman Bartel Thank you, Rick for your citizen help. Norm Bartel
