A teenage boy is lying on the floor. Adults are standing over him screaming, "I CALL MY HOMOSEXUALITY OUT IN THE NAME OF JESUS!"

This is a church. You'll see the clip here.

The church's pastor says people come to her altar to be "delivered from any spirit that causes them to not be able to function." She says this young man had the "homosexual spirit".

Does she think the young man is better now? Watch the clip. She was a guest on Rick's newscast today. Ali Velshi asks her about the teenager, and about her small congregation's passionate philosophy.

R.I.P. MR. Micheal Jackson: It's so much and so many thing we want to do and say. Heaven surely has a rose in its' garden now. Dont go nowhere Mark Sanchez this is not a reprieve we will be back after these messages

Re: The Homosexual Demon... those of us who are born again in Christ Jesus, know that homosexuality is a demonic spirit. It's nothing against the young man... we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and spirits in high places. That's biblical and there's a lot of things that people who are not biblically or theologically knowledgeable of, they just won't understand.

nadine   June 25th, 2009 8:53 pm ET

A person who stands for nothing will fall for anything. IN other words, the gays stand for their rights, so why do Christians have to bow down and explain their beliefs when they take a stand? Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed because of these same acts! If you believe in the Bible or God, this should make you take a step back. If you don't learn from the past, then you are doomed to repeat it.

Scott Finnell   June 25th, 2009 9:12 pm ET

This is as ridiculous as ridiculous can get. I am so angry at these people who are so ignorant. I can't even see clearly it makes me so sick to my stomach. What damage these crazy people are doing to the health of this young man. There is nothing wrong with him. Leave him alone, and leave all gay people alone. We are sick of all this crazy crap.

Michael Schumann   June 25th, 2009 9:50 pm ET

It is pathetic to see and hear of such things happening in the modern world. The persistence of such superstitions and practices are the very fuel of so much of what is wrong with "organized" religions and thus, underlies so much of so many of the world's ongoing social justice problems.

The only Demon I can "see" or suspect of being present in this congregation is anything but supernatural, it is the common, everyday Demon of Human Ignorance.

Deewood   June 25th, 2009 11:30 pm ET

Blah, blah, blah... The Bible is fiction. Get over it.

Ray   June 25th, 2009 11:33 pm ET

Yvette wrote: "those of us who are born again in Christ Jesus, know that homosexuality is a demonic spirit."

No, you BELIEVE it, but you do not KNOW it. Big difference. Many Christians are gay, and many gays are Christian, and there is no problem for them because they understand the Bible in a different way - many mainstream denominations have come to understand the Bible differently.

Omar Archer Sr   June 25th, 2009 11:34 pm ET

The church today Rick is a money making ministry, there are so many false prophets today until it is not funny any more. God will ultimately be the judge of their destiny. I am so tired of every other pastor casting demons out of people and behind the scenes they are living double lives.

Deewood   June 25th, 2009 11:34 pm ET

BTW, I went to Catholic school for 12 years and was raised in a Catholic family so that's an educated opinion. And that's all we have, opinions. No one is right or wrong, it's all in your interpretation of what is told to us. So there's a 50% chance you're wrong.

philippe   June 25th, 2009 11:45 pm ET

these people are wackos. They can't suck the gay spirit out of someone. no one chooses to be gay...and you can't change them, they love who they love...people need to deal with that and just suck it up

Jefff H.   June 25th, 2009 11:57 pm ET

This is why you don't mess with Christians they crazy! Look at this crap... you have pastors molesting little boys and all this crap .. Pleasee

Sarah   June 26th, 2009 12:21 am ET

...I don't see anything wrong with this video. This lady was speaking the truth the whole way. CNN just tried to make it out like they were attacking homosexuality and they aren't. I know a guy who was raped by another man when he was a child, and the result was that the boy began to host a demonic spirit that was homosexual. He basically started to act like a homosexual for a long time, which was way different then what he was acting like before. And it was because he had a demonic spirit in him. His parents finally brought him to the alter when they found out about the rape, and they rebuked the spirit and he doesn't act like that anymore.

People need not realize that there are spirits out there, a lot of us want to just ignore it, but its real, and its also in the bible.

michelle   June 26th, 2009 12:47 am ET

i believe this poor guy carries a lot of guilt...i am a happily married woman for almost 20 years who lovingly acknowledges my beautiful sister who is in a lesbian relationship. I strongly believe that if Jesus walked on this Earth today, not one of us, them or those would be judged or turned away. This poor man needs to be accepted by all of his brothers and sisters. He only walked into this place of worship because he knew his parents or family did not accept his sexuality. Well.... accept it. Jesus would.

Rebecca Warner   June 26th, 2009 1:28 am ET

The real tragedy here is that teenage boy will forever be scarred by this event. His family and pastor believe homosexuality is so evil it must be a demon, something that must be cast out. And when this fails, how long will it be before that child feels that it is he–not some demon that can be exorcised–that is dirty and deserving of hate. Hopefully, when that happens, there will be someone in his life open-minded enough to embrace him and who he really is.

Mr. 337   June 26th, 2009 3:34 am ET

Stil... why is the homosexuality "spirit", associated with a list of negative, destructive spirits? Is it inherently destructive to be homosexual? Is that what you actually believe?

If so, you are simply, wrong.

Frank   June 26th, 2009 6:18 am ET

Re: The Homosexual Demon. Rick I was amazed when I saw this video on your show and first I want to thank you for showing it... Now a days this type of stuff is Taboo... The fact that Demonic possessions are very real as outlined in the bible when Jesus drove multiple demons named Legion out of a person, these Demons roamed until they inhabited swine. We as Americans think of this stuff as nonsense but we wonder why there are such odd behaviors in people in today’s society, could they have demons in them? The bible also says love the sinner and hates the sin; we are not judge those outside of the Church. I agree with the response from the Church spokesperson, who said they welcome people who have alternate lifestyles to their church however they will not be allowed to practice there...

Ernestine   June 26th, 2009 9:18 am ET

Jesus loved the sinner but hated the sin.

liz mcgehee   June 26th, 2009 11:01 am ET

It is absolutely the choice of these people how to express their faith BUT the minute this lady said anyone homosexual would not be able to "join" that church judgment happened. The Bible says in Romans that when you pass judgment you are condemning yourself because you are guilty of just as much and furthermore by passing judgment on that person actually makes you WORSE.
Can you imagine having a church say if you over eat you can't be a member or if you have ever had an impure thought you could not be apart of that congregation, churches would be pretty empty hu?
I believe in Gods eyes it's pretty much all the same.
We are an imperfect people and the one perfect thing we have in common , God, most use it to make the divide greater instead of bringing us together.

Lori   June 26th, 2009 11:13 am ET

Don't get normal organized religion associated with stranger cult like sorts. I mean, if homosexual life styles conflict with God – let him contend with it. In the long run He will contend with all of our wrong and right doings. In the end God will be the judge of all.

Lori   June 26th, 2009 11:14 am ET

Live and let live. God with judge everyone.

Darrin J.   June 26th, 2009 2:30 pm ET

It's really sad, people care more about dieing tv stars than issue's that affect them everyday like global warming and trying to change the government that is ripping us off and making it harder and harder for us to just live are daily lives!!! I'll get off my rump to go out and put some flowers on MJ's star, but don't ask me to help my fellow man and fight bad policies in Washington.

Donzo   June 26th, 2009 3:03 pm ET

I compare the life of Michael Jackson to the Movie "Benjamim Buttons" There are many similiarities to MJ's life and This Movie starring Brad Pitt. MJ was forced as a child Pop Star to becomae an Adult as the focal point of his group, the Jackson Five. Benjamin Buttons was physically old but had the mind of a small child at the beggining of his life. As Micheal aged, He became isolated from most adults unless he was perfoming only to find solace from the innocence of children. Benjamin Buttons was horribly disfigured at the beggining of his life, which forced onlookers who met him to look at him on the inside, to see the soul of a man. In Michael jacksons' case, after looking past the Plastic Surgeries, the Monkey, & the dramatic alleged accusations, you get the soul of Michael Jackson. A man who loved his FANS, I truly believe that he was severly hurt from his decline in Sales & popularity by the U.S. by Media and some Fans. When this level Super stardom is reached, How do you not allow yourself to succomb to feeling of isolation, being alone, It has never happened to anyone else quite like this before so we cannot compare this to anything or anyone. Thank You Micheal for allowing me to "Ride the Boogie" with you for my entire life. RIP MJ.

Come back to the church Christ founded The Roman Catholic Church

Our Deteriorating Economy. Cause and Cure

The politicians of this country refuse to seriously discuss the real cause of our deteriorating economy and thus there will be no solution to bring back prosperity to the working class citizens. These politicians are given money and favors by big business investors to permit them to exploit the working class by replacing American labor with cheaper foreign labor and denying them needed benefits, such as affordable health care for all. A taxpayer paid campaign finance system could wrest control of our government from big business if the U.S. Supreme Court should so decide.

Michael Shannon   June 27th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

I read in the comments, "those of us that are born again" and "these people" and "the gays". As a young man I was quite the homophobe like so many of those commenting are. However when you listen to those around you and not just ignore them, you begin to realize hate in any form; pseudo-religious hate, the hate from peer pressure obsessions or the hate of anything or anyone that is not like you or agrees with you is nothing more than just plain hate and it is damaging to oneself and to everyone around you. A man or a women wh has a different sexual leaning then I do is not to be hated but rather they should be loved, respected and listened to. If any demons need to be cast out, it would be the demons of hate that this Pastor had lead his congregation into joining with him in practicing hate. What a spectacle. What would Jesus think?

Karl   June 27th, 2009 4:30 pm ET

I can think of some Senators who were unfaithful to their wives that need to come in and have their evil spirits exorcised.

Vivienne   June 27th, 2009 7:50 pm ET

It is sad that Michael Jackson's Dr C Murray could not prevent the death. I am now questioning his medical knowledge especially carrying out CPR on a soft surface....bed; giving narcotics without providing safety for the patient like neurological and physical assessment . Also not having Narcan to reverse the effect. Why is lidocaine at the scene? How was he monitoring his cardiac status? Sure some people forget their medical ethics and protocols involving drug administration, when money is involved. This is a lesson to medical personnel to be in control at all times instead of letting patient dictate the treatment provided.

pazyfe   June 28th, 2009 5:50 pm ET

It is very confusing, this 16 y/o is seeking some type of assistance. He is not happy with what he is feeling and living, I think his deliverance is based on the relationship he has with God. Let us not fine tune the word of God it is perfect the way it is, God does not accept homosexuality, and if you suffer with this lust filled weakness, pray and pray and more prayer, so by God's grace this may be controlled. Know thyself, and know what brings sin into action, control it. It starts in the mind, but does not have to be fullfilled. Accountability.

David   June 29th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Dear Rick,

I saw the Oprah Winfrey Show this morning and the Reveran Targert was on her show. This show implores the World to re-examing the issue of Homosexuality. We need to have Town Hall meetings with Scientist, Doctors, and Religious Leaders who are willing to honestly debate this tabooed topic. I believe that Gays are unfairly treated and demonized because this issue is taboo just like the Aids issue was. Until we can have a consensus as to why God created straight, gay, black, hispanic, white, etc. etc. We have no right to speak for him. Most of the hypocrasy is propragated by the Church. What a shame!!!

David,
Las Vegas

Jeanne   June 29th, 2009 4:53 pm ET

Rick- (or whoever gets this)Regarding Michael Jackson's death: Why is it that no one seems to be showing interest in the most obvious: Jackson was provided and everything by one controlling source (be it a group or a single individual) which includes the designation of the house where he was staying, the security person(s), and the doctor. It shouldn't be overlooked that someone was with Jackson when the doctor was summoned and , based on what we have heard, Jackson was fading when the doctor arrived.-WHAT HAPPENED TO JACKSON BEFORE THE DOCTOR ARRIVED??? SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD HAVE BEEN A SETUP FOR THE DOCTOR TO BE A FALL GUY.

Doug Johnson   June 29th, 2009 6:00 pm ET

Towards the end of the video, I believe I noticed an apparition leaving the victims body. Freaky!!

Cousin Art   July 1st, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Well, did they cure him?

Raymond James Thibault   July 4th, 2009 7:05 am ET

The question is; is Homosexuality a Demon, or a character defect. IF, Big If, you read the Bible the Isrealites were told to stone men caught in a sex act together. Sodom and Gomorra were destroyed because of out of control Homosexuality. It's there, read it. Could be, could be we all just need to pray and leave it in God's hands. Some say AIDS is God's answer to Homosexuality. I'm not a Judge and I won't join the Jury. All I know iis I love women, always have and think it was Adam and Eve, Not Adam and Steve. Have a Great Day Rick. Happy 4th of July.

Min. Steven D. Gregory   July 6th, 2009 12:19 pm ET

I agree with the pastor. According to the Word of God, homosexiuality is not excepted. That do not mean as Christians, we are against people who are gay...just can not except their lifestyle. That's where the power of prayer come in. Its a spiritual war. And if you can not see things spiritually, then I don't expect you to understand. If everyone in the world decided to live a gay lifestyle, the human race will be over as we know it because procreation would be to an end.

matt   July 6th, 2009 2:04 pm ET

first of all where is in the bible does it say that a women should be a preacher....no where!.....women come in with either fanaticism or (some actually are good women)....second....homosexuality is a demon....a demon for you americans who are vain to a state of denial...who watch movies and think anything is acceptable....i wish others were as wise or smart as i am or others who can actually break down the feces that makes up the polluted american mind...please dont reply to me because if you do you are probably mad at what im saying...and therefore are one of those vain idealistic people im talking about.....that would therefore render you less intelligent than anyone i would like to hear from

JowhnWinNC   July 6th, 2009 3:06 pm ET

Someone needs to exorcize the "Bible Ignorance" and "BS" demons out of this pastor. The "Name of Jesus" is not an incantation to be shouted, like "Abracadabra," during a stage magician's act. It literally means "in the manner of" as in, healing people in the manner that Jesus healed. I don't recall any evidence that Jesus acted anything like this pastor. Certainly, he never screamed "In the name of ME" at the top of his lungs. Rather, I think he stated that "the Father" does the work. Also, I don't recall him ever casting out a "homosexuality" demon, either. The "demons I remember reading about "recognized" Jesus and spoke to him directly. Apparently, there's no actual demon in this scenario.

John   July 6th, 2009 3:39 pm ET

This makes me physically ill. As a gay CHRISTIAN it pains me to see what this church has done. I was that teen when I was his age. Confused, unsure how being gay and God work together. It took years of personal journey, prayer, meditation on His word, and research to learn that it is ok to be Gay and be a Christian. God don't make mistakes. There is not one verse in the Bible that condemns homosexuality. Every verse that is used against us is taken far out of context!

INDOMUSIC   July 6th, 2009 3:40 pm ET

SURE THAT WHAT WE CAN SEE MANY LIKE Representative Peter King (R-NY) IN CONGRASE AND IN THIS WORLD BUT Micheal Jackson IS AND WILL BE ONLY ONE IN THIS WORLD. WHO CHANGE THE WORLD NOT Representative Peter King (R-NY) OR SOMEONE LIKE HIM.

michelle   July 6th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

I think it is bs to do something like that. i mean i thought their religion said that you shouldnt judge anyone, that only god could judge. who are they to do such a thing. that is why their religion is dying off!

r mancini   July 6th, 2009 10:01 pm ET

My argument with the whole anti-gay marriage crowd is very simple: The burden of proof SHOULD BE ON THEM to prove homosexuality is a choice other people make and not a natural state or condition present at birth. If it is a condition present at birth their rights to marry should be protected like any other minority, whether the Church agrees or not.

1) Can we forget the Church once condemned LEFT HANDED PEOPLE also as “being children of the devil?” My poor mother was slapped on her left hand with a ruler so often she quit catholic school at 8th grade. I don't have a single letter from my mother, rest her soul.

2) If homosexuality is nurture (learned or by choice) rather than NATURE (present @birth), you think Dick Cheney would have a gay daughter?

3) Maggie Gallagher of the Institute to Protect Marriage and the rest of her ilk cannot impose moral absolutes without themselves being guilty of FORCED RELIGIOUS INDOCTRINATION. Everybody doesn't subscribe to her religion. The Church also required the women be virgins or the marriage could be annulled. Why drop this requirement and keep just what you want from Gods Law?

4) Does it make any sense I can leave all my worldly goods to a dog (ala Leona Helmsley) but cannot marry the person I choose? Or that someone born a hermaphrodite is not technically allowed to marry at all, or for 2 men to be "legally" married one must undergo a sex change operation and then it WOULD be legal?

5) If I am white catholic girl & it is against the law to marry a black man- this would be race discrimination, a jew, religious discrimination, so why is it not sex/gender discrimination for me to be prohibited from marriage to a woman if I chose?

6) Ms Gallagher suggests maybe gay men ought to only legally be married to women. This will effectively ruin many straight women’s lives. When their (doomed from the get go) marriage collapses, it will be Ms Gallagher to blame for legislating gay men into marital contracts with women when this is unnatural for them.

7) We have among us terrorists, gangs, human traffickers cartels and much worse – Yet our GOP is locked & loaded in violent opposition against people who are American soldiers, decorated war hero's, sports stars, school teachers, college professors, doctors, nurses, home caregivers, parents, grandparents, artists, dancers, loving elderly people and innocent children. To me this is the biggest crime of all. If America was attacked (God forbid) we would need (as we do now) all these excellent people on our side.

8) It is just the right thing to do. Why allow the homophobic (homophobia is THEIR problem) to steal other people’s rights and uphold unjust laws?

i am straight   July 6th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

God does too accept homosexuality. He forbade anyone to punish Cain and he was "of the evil one" a murderer from the start. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord

Jesus came to abolish the old Law and create a new one. He says very clearly many times just in case we have a problem getting it...of all the virtues the greatest of these is love.
Love your brother as yourself.

If you deny someone a life long mate because you do not have mercy tolerance or forgiveness in your heart you are committing close to the worst sin of all.
Love God with all your heart, love your brother as yourself. God will not be proud of you, nor will he reward you for upholding archaic unjust laws that cause undue heartbreak pain and suffering.

If you play any part and cause a small innocent boy to feel so isolated persecuted and confused he hangs himself or hurts himself, you are of the devil yourself and you already have his blood on your hands..

Listen up, children! Here's your religious lesson for the day!
As someone who was raised religious, studied in the seminary, and am the father of a gay son whom I love with my whole heart, I am one of many who have finally figured it out.
The 'evil one' is not going to show himself with his pitchfork and head horns, but because he is very clever and understands how easily we humans can be duped, he is going to come to us disguised as our religious leaders and preach hate that way. How easily he gets us to hate each other and not notice who is behind it....a very poorly written 'book of instructions' in the hands of those who love 'being right'. How appropriate an addiction!
Now, go and sin no more! Amen!

Henry   July 11th, 2009 8:29 am ET

Being Gay is a Behavior, not a right, so Ali needs to step off of keeping Govt out of Church with the Constitutional rights thing of being prejudice for trying to assert keeping out homos from church,
the behavior and lifstyle is not allowed to be practiced , Ali sushi.

does Ali even pray to god for his success to thank him or is he one of those types that practices homosexuality in church as a right of vindication for govt sake?

Henry   July 11th, 2009 8:35 am ET

Gays are entitled to be saved , and to be forgiven for their perverted ways, just like Ali veshi is for trying to invoke govt into church , the other way around would not be heard of but if its the other way around , then it is not right either.
Religion is no place for politics and needs to be respected.
same with muslim or islam ,
these are not things to be associated with bigotry or judgment and self rightousness with lack of tolerance and respect for others.

Far too many people find it acceptable to judge others and criticize religion and the commandments or teachings of the bible or gods laws.

These are the times. and those who think out of arrogance and show their hate for god and put govt before gods commandments are more ignorant, than the person they think they are trying to put down.

On "Wise latina women" You included your own mother... that was disrespectful in my eyes. How long have you had your riches from the United States? Why haven't You sent Her to school to learn english? It is your turn to help her... and if she doesn't want to learn at this point, (and that's not a love for this country) then the least you could have done is not advertise her in this fashion. I see this as You disrespecting yourself as well as Her. You asked for my comment- remember that.
