This is Rick's full 15 minute interview with Mexico's former president. Now that he's out of office, Vicente Fox is refreshingly candid about NAFTA, cross-border immigration, and...what does he REALLY think about George W. Bush?

Rank structure and capitalism are making things hard for us in America, on one side we want our kids to be successful but not to seperate so much that we gain wealth and become greedy, the quetion is who questions the people who are commiting these bed things as for instance what is going on in Illinoise

Dear Mr. Sanchez,
Returning to the suicide rate of American servicemen and women. I believe that these are the types of costs that will one day make war an inpheasable response. The destruction of peoples lives, lierally and figuratively. The price in minds, lives, and hearts is more than any nation should have to bear. The legendary heroes of the past are something for the history books. We need to evolve past it.
Thank you.

What is going on lately w/ law enforcement officers all across our country? They need 2 come up w/ a new reality show 4 these bullies in uniform that take the oath 2 serve & protect. How about " BAD BOYS IN BLUE " . These incidents of police brutality, bullying & corruption turn my stomach. R we really wondering why there seems 2 b a rise in violent crimes in our schools when police officers r repeatedly caught on tape breaking the law, while " bustin some heads" & so proud of it 2 !

Why do you knock on Sotomayor so much? Why? She is a Hispanic Latino Women, who strives on becoming a better person for all of us and to make the intire world a better place to live in.... She is Hispanic Rick just as you are! Wouldnt you want the best for her? Then why you continue to bring somethings up on your hour of news to everyone and keep reminding everyone of her little comments she has made in past? Why? We all know she the best person for the JOB! Lets help everyone understand why she is Rick..........?

Thank you,

Dave

Rick, suicide rates of service men and women is sad, indeed. However, are you actually aware that the suicide rate in general has increased dramatically in the past 6months. I am involved with the fire/ems field. Suicide calls have doubled since Christmas. Economy related? I think so. And, pressures of "wrongful internet exposure" in teens has caused the suicide rate increase among teens. Point is, it is not just with military members. We should not single out the difference.

Roberto   May 27th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

the teens that beat up the kid should not worried about serious consequences. In PA, Brandon Piekarsky, Colin Walsh, and Derrick Donchak ended up getting simple assault after beating to death Luis Ramirez.

If Karl Rove AND Dick Cheney were Bush's "brain" than it becomes much clearer why Bush was a failed president.

about ambulance and police ambulance goes first cops should never transport a patient that's why there are ambulances tickets can be given later life and death don't wait. also i believe it is still a federal offencef to slow or stop an ambulance or follow.. the victim should sue both the police force and the officer

looks like Texas is up to its old bag of tricks,The paramedic incident is unforgettable, unimaginable .police are very quick to choke someone who is afro american even if he or she is a paramedic? hope he gets the best lawyer he can but not from Texas. What is the USA becoming ? kids are killing kids in Chicago ,police are shaking down motorist for drugs and money. We need to remove those individuals from their posts right now !

Too much fervor – not enough reporting.

Forfeiture of material used to commit a crime or obtained as the benefit of a crime is common throughout the US. The trucks abandoned by someone (criminal or not) is fair game. Arresting someone and not obtaining a guilty conclusion does not enable forfeiture.

The problem is, how are the proceeds of the forfeiture used?

As to the endless 'teaser' references to the Carville-Rove debate, shame on you. At 8 minutes past the hour, you promised to broadcast it in 20 minutes. You actually waited over 50 minutes. "Truth in advertising?"

Just want to say. Love your show, even more than Cafferty (Who's too picky about the comments submitted).

Rick - I think everyone is missing the point of Sonia Sotomayor's comment on Hispanic woman vs. white male, etc. She said "I WOULD HOPE that etc....... - she did not say she thought the woman would be making better decisions, only that she hoped so!!!!! The Republicans have nothing better in their repertoire of cutting remarks than to misrepresent anything they possibly can!! I'm disgusted with them.

Dear Sanchez,

Great interview! You really get down to the central issue in each interview you conduct. You don't let your guest get off the topic without correcting them and asking them to answer your question. Great job and keep it up!

Jere   May 28th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Rick, the paramedic that was about to be arrested should not have put his elbow into the face of the officer. That is resisting arrest. One more charge for him in addition to failure to yield. I'm not saying the police are right but the biggest reason why those officers are still on duty without any disciplinary action is because the paramedic resisted. Sometimes there are levels of animosity between the police and other emergency services. I'm sure there is way more to this that we don't know about.

Remé JEAN-LOUIS MONTREAL -CANADA   May 28th, 2009 4:05 pm ET

For me it is not a racial speech, the judge Sotomayor spoke about experience.Yet,the conservatives can not think for her ,talking about context. She knows what she said. And,she was right, cause experience is important in every single job we do in life.Everybody knows that.Rick, you are just doing a good job.Keep on.

Ugo   May 28th, 2009 4:06 pm ET

Hi Rick, it bothers me that all the critics have against Judge Sonia Sotomayor is that she said the a latina woman can make better judgement than whitemen. For the sake of this argument, let's assumme that she said it the way the critics claim. what happens to her second ammendment right? Are the critics saying that their are no latina women who can make better decision than a whiteman, or even a blackman, or a latino man for that matter? Judge Sotomayor might well be one of those latina women who can make better decisions than men of all races, we don't know that yet, only time will tell when she makes it to the supreme court.

Republicans and the critics should give us something substansive to argue about instead of being childish about the nomination of Judge Sotomayor.

Joe   May 28th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

CNN, why are you allowing a racist like Tom Tancredo air time. this racist snake has been spewing his venom for far too long. CNN should not allow people like him on the air. I am a Latino male and i am also Puerto Rican i find it offensive to have CNN giving a platform to a people like Lou Dobbs and Tom Tancredo. I am as American as Tom Tancredo, or even more so. I don't like illegal immigration either, but i don't go around promoting hate like these two horrible people. CNN is lowering their standers as low as the people in Fox-news. CNN you have just lost a loyal viewer and you will continue to lose more people like myself in you keep going down this path.

Carolyn -SweetCarol   May 28th, 2009 7:18 pm ET

Regarding the police and the ambulance driver.

If the police were on such an emergency, how could they take time to pull over the ambulance and hassle the driver? Looks like they would have pulled out and cleared traffic from the time the ambulance was crossing the street to the hospital to get the patient there quickly.

That was absolutely stupid and inappropriate. The poor judgment was not on the part of the ambulance driver, but on the police in stopping an ambulance on its way to the hospital. They could have followed it to the hospital and if there were not a patient, then the driver should have been arrested. But if he were transporting a patient, they should have given him every consideration and assisted him in his duties – clearing the way. Don't ambulances have numbers on them or a license so they could have called it in and had another officer, not so very busy or not on a case to go to the hospital to speak to them?

I wouldn't say they should be fired, but should surely be disciplined and perhaps suspended for poor judgment and for assault. The ambulance driver would have to be upset but he probably should not have resisted. Yet, under the circumstances, with a screaming woman in the ambulance, I can understand his frustration and completely disbelieving what was happening. Exactly what town in Texas was that and what police force? Give some people a little authority and they misuse it.

Molly   May 29th, 2009 3:41 pm ET

Rick – Does it matter that Tancredo confuses La Raza with Mecha or any other Latino organization who focuses on the uplifting of a community? They can't even "get" that we as Latino's are a very diverse group of people with more issues than just Immigration. We are Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Mexican-Americans, Cubans, Guatemalans, Chicanos, etc. Tancredo and his ilk have only ever seen Latinos through a very narrow microscope. As a Chicana I care deeply about the Environment, the Economy, Poverty, Education, and qualify of life. The Republican Party as it exists will never get my vote as long as they continue to see and treat Latinos as second class citizens.

Dee Marino Papajohn   May 29th, 2009 4:13 pm ET

Hi Rick,
I think a lot of people need to learn the history of Puerto Rico; beginning with our elected government officials. I could not believe yesterday when I heard Mr. Tancredo refer to Judge Sotomayor as a brown women nor that I continual to hear that Puerto Rican's are immigrants. Puerto Ricans are not immigrants, they are born American citizens. Mr. Tancredo should also know that Puerto Ricans settled in what is known as Spanish Harlem because they could vote and it helped elect an Italian to Congress.

melvin north   May 29th, 2009 4:28 pm ET

I heard that this is being called friendly fire. The white cop killed the black suspect who just happens to be a police officer. Hmmm. This is hard for everybody involved. Face it. The only thing difficult about this is the black guy just happens to be a police officer, otherwise the white guy deserves an accommodation. Now it appears that he murdered him.

It’s funny that these hispanics keep regergitating the exact same responses towards the gop on this rick sanchez blog. I guess there are not that many hispanic independant thinkers as I had thought. For ex. Ooooohh you guy’s are in trouble. The media tells us poor opressed hispanics the gop is alienating the progressives and minorities, and are digging themselves a massive hole in which they will never get out. Let’s all sing along! la la la la la la la, lalala, lala! For the other independant hispanic thinkers, chew on this. You know the La Raza is the real issue here. And you know La Raza is a racially biggoted organization. And what the gop is saying is you can’t have a superior court judge who belongs to such an organization. And I know a reverse discriminator when I see one. Grew up in the 70’s and 80’s in an all Mexican ghetto for 21 years. I know racism, believe me.
Top ten positions of La Raza that should give everyone reasons why Sotomayor should not be confirmed to the high court because of her association with La Raza alone:
10. La Raza supports driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.
9. La Raza supports in-state tuition discounts for illegal alien students that are not available to law-abiding US citizens and law-abiding legal immigrants.
8. La Raza opposes cooperative immigration enforcement efforts between local, state, and federal authorities.
7. La Raza sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by your public tax dollars, including the “Aztlan Academy” in Tucson, AZ, the Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, AZ, and Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn.
6. La Raza gives mainstream cover to a poisonous subset of ideological satellites, led by Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), which the late GOP Rep. Charlie Norwood rightly characterized as “a radical racist group… [and] one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West.”
5. La Raza opposes a secure fence on the southern border.
4. Former La Raza president Raul Yzaguirre, Hillary Clinton’s Hispanic outreach advisor said this:
“US English is to Hispanics as the Ku Klux Klan is to blacks.” He was referring to US English the nation’s oldest, largest citizens’ action group dedicated to preserving the unifying role of the English language in the United States. La Raza also pioneered Orwellian open-borders Newspeak and advised the Mexican government on how to lobby for illegal alien amnesty while avoiding the terms “illegal” and “amnesty.”
3. La Raza is currently leading a smear campaign against staunch immigration enforcement leaders and has called for TV and cable TV networks to keep immigration enforcement proponents off the airwaves-in addition to pushing for Fairness Doctrine policies to shut up their foes.
2. La Raza has consistently opposed post-9/11 national security measures at every turn.
1. The National Council of La Raza means The National Council of “The Race,” for God’s sake.”

More on Obamanomics..

We hear that President Obama in 4 months + has totally wrecked the economy by uncontrolled government spending, and has turned America into a Socialist Country..

Quite a claim by some ..

Economically speaking, what is the truth.

Where did the deficit spending come from. What was the US National deficit over the last 50 + years. What has the deficit been under the watch of the US Presidents in the last 50-100 years.

If Mr. McCain had been elected, what would have the Budget looked like. Could this economy been any different if massive tax cuts been enacted , and what would it have done to the deficits compared to the ground reality now.

What would the stimulus look like, (assuming that is what the US needed to spur the econimic growth) under a different scenarios.

I would be very interested to see an honest to goodness comparative study and analysis presented in a "Fair & Balanced Way"

Is there a documentary or a good book on this in the works..,

It would be very educational and informative.

Thankyou.

Paulette   June 4th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

Great talk but my questions to Vincente Fox are. Why do you want us to have open borders when Mexico's southern borders are not open to Central and South Americans? Why are you pushing your poor and uneducated on America? Why not help your people so that they can stay in their own country? The answer to that is simple. The poor and uneducated that you ship here send back so much money that it stimulates YOUR economy and allows the rich there to benefit from this money that their families use. Mexico has some of the most strict immigration laws in the world, why are you not practicing what you are preaching?
