Rick you are a class act. Your reaction to the "Tent of Freedom" was right on. And people wonder why the Republicans are in trouble. I have, as yet, to see any republican make any sense!

Adam   April 29th, 2009 10:50 am ET

Thank you Rick for reacting as most of your viewers did " what the hell does that mean?". Way to destroy the rhetoric that is at the core of the Republican Parties values.

Johnny Canuck   April 29th, 2009 11:00 am ET

Rick:

I have listened over past days to CNN about Obamas first 100 days. I find it very offensive by CNN's referral to Obamas BROKEN promises. It seems to me that he never said he would fulfill all 512 promises within the first 100 days.

I know that you guys need to fill in the news time, but give us all a break and Obama as well. Why not refer to those promises as not fulfilled but NOT BROKEN.

Perhaps this is a good discussion item.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks

John

Great Story to do – Not All Viral Masks are created equal. Check out newly approved (by European FDA) Filligent Viral Mask (company in Hong Kong). Their application now with U.S. FDA but as usual it is slow. This mask kills Swine Flu, Influenza and Bird Flu! We need this mask to be made available now to U.S. citizens. Do the research as CNN is giving out alot of wrong information on masks. This new mask is a huge advance in medical mask technology.

Nick   April 29th, 2009 11:42 am ET

Rick, thank you so much for calling Jim out on that. That made my day lol :)

Dave Gallo   April 29th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

Arlen Spector is stupid for changing parties. I think, he knows that he has left down the people of Pennsylvania and they are not going to re-elect him as a republican or anything else. Don't you senator that it's time to quit.

Dolores Gill Jackson   April 29th, 2009 2:07 pm ET

Hey Rick! Happy Wed. April 29/09 How about a discussion re the plane fly over NY ..what was the purpose $328.835.00 ??? slap in the face for the families of those who were murdered. Only those who were behind 911 would think that this fly over was funny. Apparently a mistake?????????? Have a great day Rick! Keep up yopur good work!

Diana Roberts   April 29th, 2009 3:15 pm ET

Rick,

I enjoy watching you! correction!!!

It is Kay Bailey

HUTCH "A" SON

NOT

HUTCH "IN" SON

Please get it right. This differentiates the so-so broadcasters,
from the guys who are the pros.
Thanks!

Rick,
I'm so tired of hearing about party members defecting. Don't you think it's time that we get rid of the parties and we all stand together as the American Party???????

John P.   April 29th, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Rick – might enjoy watching you if you could contain your glee about the defection of Arlen Spector to the Democratic Party. I am amazed that the simple fact that Sen. Spector will not get elected as a Republican therefore his change of parties, does not get reported. Additionally, the key difference between the previous administration having control of Congress vs. what is happening now is that the Senate might be filibuster proof, if Al Franken is confirmed in the Senate. Civics 101....

carl   April 29th, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Rick you just said that the Republicans did not complain when they had the majority in the House and Senate. What Spector's defection did was assure the Demos they are 1 vote away from being in Super Majority control which means the Rep. can not filibuster or do nay proceedural moves to block legislation. The Rep. never had this opportunity. Carl

Rachel   April 29th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Hey Rick,
I thought selling a Senate seat for personal gain was illegal. Blagojevich should subpoena Specter, Obama, Biden and Reid as defense witnesses.

jane   April 29th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Steele: Flipped the bird at the GOP?" What do you think the GOP has been doing the past 8 years? You guessed it...flipping the bird at us the majority of working class americans.

Marty   April 29th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

The "swine Flu" scare of '76 fizzled out maybe this will too

Marty   April 29th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

will Mexico pay for my dr bills if I get the flu?

marilyn anderson   April 29th, 2009 3:39 pm ET

Doctor in Texas said the child that died died from Influenza A, why does everyone keep saying"swine" flu? It is a grave injustice to the pork industry and a misquote of the virus.

Theresa   April 29th, 2009 3:40 pm ET

Rick,
I as a citizen of this country am concerned about the fact that we are looking at this one party system of govenment. If I was a democrat this would concern me. As an American I value having a more than one party system and the exchange of ideas but to have this is simply un-American

Theresa from NY

Leann   April 29th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

I am a US citizen who has been livinv in Puerta Vallarta Mexico for 5 years. No flu here, precautions are being taken and we feel safe

Ronald E. Anderson   April 29th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

All Republicans should be embarassed at what is going on and what is being said by their REP. Senators. I for one will be a Democrat tomorrow

Anthony   April 29th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

Rick, big fan of your show. Republicans seem to forget that we Democrats are proud and Patriotic Americans. I have to say God Bless President Obama,I have no doubt he is as Patrioc and Loves our country.I will keep all are elected officials in my prayers and I know he and his staff are looking out for all Americans.Give the man a chance and support him, I didn't always agree with Pres. Bush, but ,I supported him as President. No party loves our country more than the other. Let's stick together and keep our country the focal point of our affection. anthony in Alabama

Jerry in AZ   April 29th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Maybe Republicans should do some soul seardhing and stop attacking on a persoal level. The only thing we hear are vague statements like 'tent of freedom' what do they have to offer ordinary people? I have voted for Republicans in the past, but I would be hard pressed to vote for any Republican now. Here in AZ the Republicans are completely disconnected from the people.

janecolo.   April 29th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

the Republican party has been flipping the bird at us, the average American worker for 8 years! Good for Arlen Specters honorable defection.

shirley bontrager   April 29th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Hi: Rick: Please–oh please-make some comment on WHY there has been no reference as to WHY RUSSIA HAS NO ""H2N1", or "swine flu, if that is incorrect??
When a world map is shown, there is a remarkable large part of that whole region devoid of disease??

The Good news: The Democrats can now get anything through the political pile line...
The Bad news:The Democrats can now get anything through the political pile line...

God help us.

Kathy   April 29th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Senator Spector is flipping sides because he wont get re-elected as a republican! WHAT????? is this even legal? what happened to actually believing in what you represent,? They are all crooks, it does not matter if we have a democrat or republican majority, the average joe will always get the short end of the stick

BudGood   April 29th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

It's sad that a death has been attributed to swine flu in the US. But, keeping things in perspective, 36,000 Americans die every year from the common flu.

Elizabeth   April 29th, 2009 3:59 pm ET

Swine flu and people who had Guillen-Barret Syndrome as a result of the chemical based of the regular flu vaccine.
What is going to happen to people who have had reactions to the flu vaccine. We had side effects of Guillen-Barret Syndrom due to the base component of the flu vaccine. Are they going to change the base component for the Swine flu, so we can be vaccinated? If not, What is going to happen to us?

Richard   April 29th, 2009 3:59 pm ET

The good news? Specter left. Good riddance. He would not have won the Republican nomination and I doubt he has much chance in the 2010 general election should he manage to lie his way past his Democratic opponents.

Marian Kriston   April 29th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

'KEEP IT CHAOTIC – ...they can't pay attention...
Obama is used the news to have his HHS nominee appointed quickly.

RJ   April 29th, 2009 4:20 pm ET

Hey Richard, your exactly why Spector left your narrow-minded party. You are right he would not have won his parties nomination simply because his own party has attacked him and this is how your GOP party operates, its pathetic and so are you! A real party spends the time and money on defeating their opponent not trying to destroy one of their own!

George   April 29th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

I'd like to know why Rick Sanchez cut off governer of Veracruz when he was stating that doctors in Mexico found a cure and cured 5 year old boy with mixture of Amoxicillin and another drug. I didnt hear other drug because Governor was cut off as soon as he said doctors found cure. Is there more important news Rick?

Jeff   April 29th, 2009 4:45 pm ET

Another imflamatory blast by the desperate Sanchez. This guy hates everyone who has conservative American values! He makes me sick.

Nephesh_Amarcusa   April 29th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

What did Sen. Specter mean by "I don't know what they mean but they say they're OK losing in primaries as long as we can PURIFY THE PARTY". Sen. Specter courageous choice to switch parties for Self Preservation is should be respected. Especially if he has been working in the midst of some kind of "American/German-Nazi mentality" without being devoured by or succumbing to it. I believe that he does not want his legacy to be one of Civil Division such as the "party of no" has been.
Republican their comrades and ditto-heads alike equate transparency, equality and justice with loss of freedom and socialism. That is so un-American and sounds like communism But, We the people will not be put behind an "Iron Curtain"

Rick,
I’ve watched CNN throughout the election. I don’t remember you personally ever asking Obama or his supporters, “Hope and change, what the hell do you mean by hope and change?” If you did, please post a link.

Apparently you are satisfied to propagate an amorphous mantra you enjoy and castigate one you reject. How entirely Hannity-esque of you. Man-up and try to pretend to be a little bit more even-handed in your interviews.

vinny suptanio   April 29th, 2009 8:11 pm ET

I watched a young black reporter on CNN interview a group of black leaders who referred to Pres. Obama as a "brother." Whether he recognized it or not, the term brother is racist code language to say he is one of us and not you. How can an organization permit such racially charged language? I thought that with the election of a black president that we are moving beyond labeling people by the color of their skin.

I'm sure that I will never hear a response in that the media never recognizes its errors and rather buries them

Luie   April 29th, 2009 11:32 pm ET

Hey Rick,

I remember when VP Gore was robbed and Mr. Bush took office but I specifically remember democrats, not happy about it, move on for the sake of the country and specially eight months later after 9/11.
This republican party, and as Americans, should be ashamed of their behavior since day one. They have been selfish, unwilling to blame the real cause of this crisis or even acknowledge Mr. Bush and his incompetence and worst of all, they have been divisive and have gone out of their way to make the President look bad. I think, as a Disabled American Veteran, that all Americans deserve better from the GOP. In time of crisis, like right now, this government must stop the pettyness and get on with the change the people of America voted for. I think all the dividers in the house and senate have something to worry about in their next election, Change will not be stopped when the country has voted for it!

I love the show Rick and proud to have "Un consorte" create this twitter and media+people explosion, congrats and may you go as high as you want to go!

I have recently had the pleasure of watching your performance with Sen. Demint. While I give you high marks for drama and emotive arrogance, I have to grade you low for substance. You were on the attack from the get-go and are hanging your hat on a term that you partially created; that being tent if you are not following. As an extrememly disgruntled Libertarian (since labels seem to matter so much nowadays) I am tired of seeing entertainers pretend to be journalists. None of the networks get it and from your intellectually lazy attack on Sen. Demint you dont either. His point, whether you like the words used to communicate it, was that more govt is certianly not the answer, but this admin has already proven that it is not willing to consider anything else...

Bob Watson   April 30th, 2009 9:40 am ET

I'm impressed by your simple courage to step back and ask, what the he'll does that mean. You moved upajor rungs with me. We need journalists with access to drive past talking points. Thanks Rick

Kathy   April 30th, 2009 11:50 am ET

Rick
I work in the health industry and I can tell you many MD's offices do not have the proper testing for swine flu at the office, they would have to send samples to CDC. They can test for influenza a or b but not swine flu. So, it is fair to say for every confirmed case by the CDC of swine flu there are probably thousands that just are not going to get diagnosed!!!!

Ralph Hunter   April 30th, 2009 12:01 pm ET

If 36,000 people in the US die of the regular flu each year, why are we concerned about a few hundred? The regular vacine does not appear to be too effective and is a pandemic itself by the numbers standard.

Jeff   April 30th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

You may think being an arrogant attack dog will make you a success but millions of Americans think you are a phony. A Paper Tiger with all the talk and no walk. Sincerely...you are a pretty face and nothing more. Show some backbone my friend.

Jeff   April 30th, 2009 12:18 pm ET

Obama is is meglomaniac. Period. I would be very scared for his safety. This man is hated by millions of Americans as he rubs their faces in his victories. They fear him..the press is scared to death to question his actions..it is unbelievable. His gestapo is far reaching. I wish him no harm but want him to fail as I want America to be saved before he destroys it. I love America as it was founded and don't hate it as he does. No man can destroy future generations with taxes they cannot pay...he knows it will defeat us as a leader in the world. This country will collapse under his rule. Only our enemies want that. Destroying our Constitution is heart breaking for me to see.

Lee   April 30th, 2009 1:44 pm ET

Rick, What does it mean when the Republicans say " Take back America"? Seems to me they are months late and many voters short. We took America back in November from their greed, lies and special interests concerns.

Jim   April 30th, 2009 3:09 pm ET

Rick,
Why are they not closing the Mexican border? Isn't that the biggest origin of the flu. What is the main reason for not closing? It Walmart
unable to get their products in? The head of Homeland Security had a rediculous answer – She said because of the commerce, produce etc. coming in. Do you believe it. Do we really want anything coming from Mexico right now. You guys should dig into this a little deeper.
Thanks,

Brian   April 30th, 2009 3:14 pm ET

I just wanted to thank the oil cartel's and the government for their slow reaction to the oil speculators for ruinning the American Auto Industry.
I belive we should let the banks fail next and let american people know the real feeling of Rule of Law and Free Market.

CubanMom   April 30th, 2009 3:19 pm ET

Rick, the "tent of freedom"?? We are a Nation of Freedom! The GOP is in trouble because they have nothing to offer but the old tired rhetoric!

To the people wanting to close the Mexican border:

Take a deep breath! IF we closed the Mexican border, we would have to close all the borders, including Canada. And in addition refuse to allow any and all foreign flights into our country to land!

Let's just take a step back........ take a breath and relax!

Guess how many people DIE in our Country each year of the REGULAR Flu??? 31,000 or so.

john toucey   April 30th, 2009 3:20 pm ET

rick,
i am absolutely ready to puke every time i turn on the tube and have to look at john kerry. how can this man still be a public servant after he was "exposed" during the 04 presidential race. the fact that he is where he is proves how screwed up the government has become. man i sure hope obama keeps rolling through the crap as he has done so far.

marie flynn   April 30th, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Thank u rick 4 your comments re: Captain Phillips about sacrificing his own life to save his crew (your "In cased you missed it folks" comment about this man's American man's heroism) I think u r absolutely right about a moviedeal 2. I just hope congress listens this brave man.

Ray Bell   April 30th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Rick,
I love watching your show but I have not been able to lately because CNN does not have closed captions except sporatically. Watching people with their mouth moving is not fun. Please get CNN to get closed captions fixed. Thank you.

I am a 82 year old Hillbilly from East Tennessee, and I am more inspired by Obama than any othr President since FDR

Don   April 30th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

Rick,

Why did you indicate that the ship captain said in the hearing that he thought it was not a good idea to arm ship crews. Either you need a hearing test, or you need to listen more carefully, or you're trying to color his opinion with your own.

He said that arming the crews alone was not a solution which is not quite consistent with what you said, is it? I'm guessing that you favor gun control, but that's only a guess, based on your exclamation (and it really was an exclamation). Look for it yourself at about 12:20 pacific time.

What are the latest stats from Mexico? Are folks still dying, is it running rampant? An update would be good

tanya   April 30th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

hey rick being from philadelphia i hope arlen spector don't think NOW we're going to support him when we already dems set in place and if obama thinks so he'll be very SURPRISE!!!

RUPUBLICANS didn't want SPECTOR and NEITHER do we "RETIRE"

Gabe   April 30th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Rick, why are countries south of Mexico not reporting any cases on the flu virus?

Timothy O. Hampton   April 30th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

I saw a breif clip of the captain saying not to arm the crews of the ships against piracy. I say just give each one of the ships going through that area of the world a new advanced model flame thrower.

If you burn the small boats to the waterline, I think the piracy problem might cure itself.

Keep up the good work!

Randall G. Silva   April 30th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

Virginia Foxx, Unbelievable, heart breaking. There are no civil rights for gay people.

joe sinnott   April 30th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

You are so far left you probably keep your right arm in a sling. I haven't heard a word about Biden's stupid remark that the white house tried to spin(their explanation was so beyond belief that only a leftist like yourself could even accept it let alone believe it). I heard no mention about the softball NY times reporter either. You're a leftist loser!!!

Wes   April 30th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

Rick, WHO scares us silly with briefings and pandemic upgrades; but, then states on its website: "WHO advises no restriction of regular travel or closure of borders”. Huh?

Barbara White-Hansen   April 30th, 2009 3:44 pm ET

When will the Republicans have it dawn on thm they are meeting in a pup tent? The party of "no" is about to disappear. who is running thier "show"?

joe sinnott   April 30th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Why not put security teams on merchant ships. 5 or 6 trained security personnel or even 2 or 3 properly equipped people could easily handle these losers. 3 people with m-16's with grenade launchers could repel probably 100% of these attacks. Why do we send anonymous sky marshalls on airline flights. They're trained and armed. Shipboard security would not be nearly as tricky. Don't tell 'em just do it. After a few incidents of running into this things would change quickly(probably at first just avoiding US flagged vessels but just randomly send security teams on ships & see what happens).

David   April 30th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Rick you interviewed Kay Bailey Hutchison who is a gem. If she moved to the head of the Republican party and set its tone and values, and became its effective mouthpiece, the Republicans would recover overnight. Instead they permit Rush Limbaugh and other extremists, to set the party ideology. The mass exodus from the Republicans is nothing other than a reaction of ordinary people to the totally obnoxious self-aggrandizing bully pulpit represented by people like Limbaugh.
While many people want to promote fiscal responsibility, small Govt. and individual freedom, the average person is not stupid. The basic philsophy of Limbaugh Republicanism is "Life's good to me, pal, so what the hell are you complaining about?". When this self-centered, greedy, demeaning and poisonous ideology tries to masquerade as the party of Lincoln, it just makes people sick.

David Arran Anderson   April 30th, 2009 3:53 pm ET

Re: The Replican Party

It would appear that the Republican Party is in need of some new and younger faces. Wouldn't it be fair to say that they suffer from electile disfunction?

Doug Greenough   April 30th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Am I still living in the USA? The pageant asked a question and Miss California gave an honest answer. It seems to me that the pageant should issue an apology for placing an inmature kid on the panel of judges. Sen. Spineless Specter could take a lesson from Miss California.

Daniel   April 30th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

"What the hell does that mean"? Good for you Rick. Tell it!

Joel W   April 30th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

While Miss California might not have eloquently stated her position on gay marriage, whether you agree with it or not, her performance far exceeded the totally cowardly and disrespectful reaction by Perez Hilton on U Tube. Nobody deserves that kind of adolescent attack. He certainly showed his true colors as an insensitive human being. What an idiot (and I'm being kinder than he was).

David   April 30th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

Did I hear correctly. Did Huckabee actually have a Freudian slip and say "American Socialist Republicans........ughh republics"

JASON   April 30th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

I think is good that you Mr sanchez is keeping news honest. Keep up the good work, but please dont become another Hannity or O'reilly...

PS.

The daily show vs Rick sanchez war is funny.

Re: The Swine Flu

Since there are only 55 million doses of antiviral medicine available in the US, it is obvious that there will not be enough to go around in the event of a true pandemic. However, people could also try using some of the different antiviral herbs and teas that are readily available for relieving flu symptoms, such as cumin, olive leaf extract, elderberry extract and horehound herb tea. There are also many others.

Louis Meraz   April 30th, 2009 5:24 pm ET

Rick, This flu thing is bad. Tamiflu was owned by Rumsfeld, or he had a big share in it. Is it the Tamiflu that will expire soon and must be shipped before the expiration date? How about looking into who will most benefit financially from all of this and what is all of this attention is smoke and mirrors? If attention is being diverted what is it unfocusing on. The truth is out there, tens of thousands die yearly from flu-like symptoms. Something smells bad.

Louis   April 30th, 2009 5:30 pm ET

Rick, why is Exxon telling us they will control gas reserves to "protect" the price. Isn't this a way of telling the public that they will own our gas resources and thereby control the price of natural gas just as DeBeers did with diamonds. Just watch their commercial on CO2 and natural gas and read between the lines.

Jeff Bayne   April 30th, 2009 9:44 pm ET

Nice job Rick!!!! It is time that we dont let these guys ignore our questions and spout talking points. You did not ask about the role of freedom in America. He was called out for the arrogant attitude of thinking that he could ignore your question and rant. I would love to see more of this in the media and you are renewing my confidence in journalism.
The message for both parties is: "The media is asking our (the people's) questions. Answer us! Don't ignore us! We deserve your respect!"
Thanks!!

alan   May 1st, 2009 3:07 pm ET

More spin doctoring ...and trying to imply if you don't agree with the republican party than you are not patriotic or that you are a communist.

Scott Vaden   May 1st, 2009 3:12 pm ET

The republicans need to stop being crybabies and move on to solve problems on building the economy!!! By the way "Rick Sanchez Rules'".

James   May 1st, 2009 3:15 pm ET

roughly 6 weeks ago American-based pharmaceutical company Baxter International Inc. shipped live avian flu viruses mixed with vaccine material to medical distributors in 18 countries. While it would be wrong to draw any conclusions between this horrendous "mistake" and this current pandemic, I hope CNN is at least looking into any possible connections with this sudden outbreak and any irresponsible actions by companies such as Baxter.

Doug   May 1st, 2009 3:22 pm ET

I loved your reaction, watch you all the time. I can only think the tent of freedom is the republican version of Omar the tent maker. funny but too weird.

Aren't many illness spread by sneezes most contagious during the days prior to the onset of symptoms?

tosoiba   May 1st, 2009 3:39 pm ET

The FDA has no authority over any product that is sold off the shelves at any drug store or grocerery store. Until Congress gives the FDA that mission, problems like Hydroxycut will continue unchecked.

Doug   May 1st, 2009 3:43 pm ET

The hydroxycut thing you don't have a piece for and I wish you did. Everyone reacts to some thing, We shouldn't make everything illegle in this country. That might be the tent of freedom who knows. My brother is alergic to grass should we recall grass. I mean kentucky blue! should peanut butter be against the law or soy products? We have a flu that may have originated in pigs but do we slaughter all pigs like Egypt? My god I hope we are smarter than this.

marie flynn   May 1st, 2009 3:52 pm ET

I hope that the Prez. picks another woman. I was happy to saee my gender which is more than 50 % of the population to have been represented when Clinton appointed Ginsburg. Was sad that Bush couldn't seem 2 find a qualified woman 2 nominate. I would like to c my gender better represented on the highest court in the Country.

Berdawn Hutchinson   May 1st, 2009 4:02 pm ET

I saw this clip and would like to congratulate you. I wish the members of the press had the same ovaries when confronting crap statements like this in years past, but I hope you will continue to hold government and party officials accountable.
Keep up the good work!

Cheryl Rowland   May 1st, 2009 4:46 pm ET

Rick there are a lot of us who voted for Biden also . I'm tired of the press putting Joe down just because of the air travel comment . He only said what any American with a lick of common sense already knew .

Cheryl Rowland AZ   May 1st, 2009 4:49 pm ET

Illegal imigrants are taking many jobs from the American people. Many even work two jobs, and then they send most of their mony back to Mexico the help support their family's. That money needs to stay in the USA to help our family's and our econamy. Yet we keep allowing more to enter cour country and drain our finacal worry's into a deeper hole.

Dear Rick, you are the best reporter on CNN!

Articulate and on the topic.
I hope, soon CNN will fire this retarded Anderson Cooper...so outmoded and conspicuous.
Thanks Rick, I loved the news today on Swine Flu.

HAHAHA – I see you chose not to post my previous comment. A waste of time for me – from what I see above I know what side of the fence you're on. I won't be back as you're just another censoring left wing mouth piece. What the hell does "Hope and Change" mean, Rick?

Carol   May 2nd, 2009 11:35 am ET

It would be nice to hear more "positive thinking" in the media
All you hear is "negative, negative, negative." Granted
there is much that can only be called negative.............but also,
there is much happening that is positive, and can make
a real turn around for some of the negatives.. Get the "power of
positive thinking' going . please.

Re: the venting Houston's employees.

It's not an invasion of privacy for a member of the site to bring to the attention the site's content to the interested party who's their common employer. It's not MySpace's job to protect individuals from their own stupidity....and if those individuals cant pick up on workplace politics.....what is MySpace going to do about that?

Mariela   May 4th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

Rick:

Could you do something about "shameful commercials" !!

I cannot stand the ATT commercial about the "roll over minutes".

It's so sad to have commercials, where to get our attention, they give a very bad example to our kids, of disrespect, intolerance and insolence !!!

Shame on ATT.

Such a fine display of decorum RIck, saying "What the Hell does THAT mean" to a Senator, rather than perhaps:

"Can you EXPLAIN to the public what you mean".

Glad you're off today, normally I can't watch CNN when you're on spouting your leftist crap.

JESPI   May 5th, 2009 4:21 am ET

I can not believe how government with the media are trying to create a panic with this so called swine flu. How dare they insult our intelligence when there are real problems that something real can be done about it. There are thousands leaving the gene pool because of the every day common cold and what is being said about that? What about those starving to death by the thousands every day,, that is something that has a cure,, but again where is the media and where is government? what is the WHO doing about that?

Guy Terreault   May 5th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

Caught you saying that the governor while threatening leaving the US, is still asking for money from the federal government. Dont you think that a state that pays federal taxes is in title to receive help?
After all they paid for it!

have a nice day, Guy

Joseph Vassale   May 6th, 2009 9:34 pm ET

Hey Rick:
Since we're Presidential Legacy Busting re: "Torture" prosecutions;
How about we Try Harry Truman posthumously for bombing Hiroshima and Nagasake and, while we're at it we Try Franklin Roosevelt posthumously for carpet bombing Dresden Germany to defeat Hitler? Both incidents killed innocent men, women and children !
I know you're bright enough to get my point maybe. Or maybe you would like to try Ellis Hennikan's convoluted logic to justify your position. There are still some of us around that know the facts! There is no limit to Liberal hypocrisy ! Response ?

For the past month, I've been thinking that the Democratic party needs to divide into two parties. There are the Blue Dog Democrats who oppose some of Obama's budget. And there's Arlen Specter, who defected the GOP, not really on policy, I think, but because the GOP had simply become too crazy and unreasonable.

The GOP is truly the party of "no." They're not even the party of Hoover, because at least Hoover tried to DO stuff, not just deny every course of action. The GOP leaders consist of Michael Steele, Rush Limbaugh, Mitch McConnell, and John Boener. And Sarah Palin just won't go away. These members of the GOP need to be demoted to far-far-far-right-wing crazies, and the reasonable/logical Republicans need to join the Blue Dog Democrats, then the Dems should split into two parties.

I think it would allow conservatives like Arlen Specter to survive in a reasonable political environment, and define better a more Nancy Pelosi-ish party.

The GOP has become too obsessed with image. Sarah Palin, Michael Steele, Rush Limbaugh, they all speak in broad terms with no actual specific solutions. They cater to those who don't care about actual substance, and they have to substance themselves.

Perhaps it's time for some party realignment or something...

Jon   May 7th, 2009 4:45 pm ET

I usually don't respond to other posts, but, wow! 'audrey28', you just made Rick Sanchez sound sensical.

The problem with the left is that they have always been to concerned about image. Not their own neccessarily, but the image that they continue to disparage on Republicans. A conservative is not one who says No to everything, but rather one who says No to irresponsible actions. Arlen Specter is NOT a conservative, nor has he ever been one. George Bush was NOT a conservative either. The conservative celebrates and props up the individual so that the indivdual can achieve all that they can. We are all indivduals who have the potential to do great things for ourselves as well as others. If we, as indivduals, are brought down to the lowest common denominator, under the guise of equality and fairness, which this administration seems hell-bent on doing, we ALL LOSE.

Where is John Galt when we need him most?

Scott   May 11th, 2009 1:55 am ET

Swearing at a United States Senator?! THIS is CNN?! Hey Rick, I know you've got some competition with MSNBC for most openly hostile towards conservatives, but is this really the route you want to go? He may be an unpopular Senator from an unpopular party, but he's still a UNITED STATES Senator, and he should be treated with respect. Talking like an insolent teenager may win over the "cool kids" at the Daily Show, but to the few reasonable people left in this country, it just makes you look like a jerk.

-Scott from LA

p.s. Arlen Specter defected because he was going to lose the Republican primary- PERIOD. Seems the conventional wisdom has been that Republicans have been moving "too far to the right" as long as I've been following politics (since about '95), and probably a lot longer than that. Translated into modern day English, that seems to mean, "Doesn't agree with Barack Obama like they should."

judy   May 18th, 2009 4:09 pm ET
