While watching this mornings CNN report on young people without Health Insurancd and the fact that this was placing a higer cost on the rest of the population I had a strong feeling that CNN was being manipulated by the Medical Insurance companies.
Why not look into the justification for the higher cost?
I have spent more than twenty years overseas and know for a fact that American Phatmacautical companies sell their product in these countries at a much lower cost than they do in the USA. I also know that these countries also take a stronger stand againt ludicrous suits brought by attornies for outlandish clains of malpractice.
I believe that many of the USA medical profession are prone to give themsems raisies which they can hide under higher insurance rates.

Rick,

Pat Buchanan on CNN March 26, told Wolf Blitzer, in response to the Mexican drug trade violence; that he wanted the U.S. to put military snipers on the border to target drug runners and Coyotes. Why has no reporter followed up on his shocking statement?

marie canada   March 28th, 2009 11:05 am ET

all the officer had to do was to LISTEN. yea he ran a red light and once they were at the hospital and realize there was no threat, then the officer should have let him go in the hospital. Oh yea this is reference the story in Dallas, tx. If the police would just listen sometimes maybe they would be getting hurt like they do because they want listen. He could have went into the hospital and wait until the appropriate time. He was wrong once he got to the hospital and the officer should be FIRED. Compassion is very important.

Hey Rick, I watch a lot of news at my work and out of all the news reporters, your the one i feel i can trust the most. I just wanted to know how government is trying to pass a law allowing them to go into our computers and copy or delete anything that's "copywritten," and not disclosing the details to us. I mean, I get it , but what about after that. I feel as though it's an excuse to further extend their power and they're using copywritten material as the scapegoat.

kelley   March 28th, 2009 1:32 pm ET

What I want to know is why the protest in Oakland, Ca in support of the killer of the four police officers was not covered? Why did I have to turn to Fox news to see that? Are you guys getting too politically correct at CNN?

john moore   March 28th, 2009 3:40 pm ET

To the republicans that think the popular vote was a tossup here are some numbers so you can realize how bad your party really did:

Barack H. Obama (D)
Electoral 365
Popular 69,456,897
John S. McCain (R)
Electoral 173
Popular 59,934,814

sheilah anderson   March 28th, 2009 5:24 pm ET

I want to know why know on ever talks about cutting the salaries of congress??? It seems to me they say eveyone else is out of touch and yet they still get their pay raises and special perks!! And while we are at it why don't they take commercial airlines ???

Roy Maddock   March 29th, 2009 7:38 pm ET

Several weeks ago, Hillary Clinton announced the US was giving $900 Million in humanitarian aide to Gaza because of the devastation caused by Israel. About a week ago she announced that the US was giving $80 Million to Mexico towards fighting the drug war which has already penetrated our borders. This doesn't make sense. Our priorities seem to be out of order. We should require Israel to help clean up the mess they created while we concentrate on a very significant problem currently going on in the US, of which she says we are partially at blame.

Also, $900 Million equates to $18 Million dollars per State in the US which could go towards humanitarian efforts which is also needed in this country.

Jerry   March 30th, 2009 9:52 am ET

The resignation of General Motors chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner:

And is Congress and Obama going to do the same with AIG? Shouldn't all the CEO's be fired or asked to resign? How many more billions are involved in AIG as to GM? And what about the billions that went out to foreign banks? How come that information is not addressed anymore? USB got 5 billion I believe. They refused to turn over a full list of names of Americans who were hiding their money in off shore accounts there to avoid paying income tax on it. So they are rewarded, indirectly, from our government, to continue hiding tax revenues much needed in this country. Is the USA afraid many political figures will be included in the listing of tax evaders?

rockman   March 30th, 2009 1:07 pm ET

john moore who gives a damn what the numbers are: cnn fooled the nation and now you are going to pay. obama cannot appease islam and north korea as well as russia and china. do you not think that despite your worship of a ineffectual president that they will stop their hatred of the u.s.? the fact is you are an enemy of these nations and mr obama will not fix it; actually he is another neville chamberlain appeasing his enemies. he is walking you into a dangerous situation because the democratic leadership is weak and confused. you voted for obama so do not be suprised at the calamity

jenny1978_86@hotmail.com   March 30th, 2009 1:31 pm ET

hi rick when we going to talk about inmigration reform?

Steve Patrick   March 30th, 2009 2:03 pm ET

Just wondering, if 100,000 residents affected by the flooding near Fargo were each to take 10 empty gallon containers and remove a total of one million gallons of water would that help at all? They could pour the water back in at a later date.

Bobbie   March 30th, 2009 3:08 pm ET

Why is it always the working man that has to give up while the Wall Street Gang keeps right on ripping us off and taking bonuses?
Same old story......I expected better from President Obama.

Thomas E Kloack   March 30th, 2009 3:09 pm ET

Hey RC: How much of the bailout money in the millions did this CEO get for failure like AIG.( AIG = Another Investment Gone) How much did he get ,I think I it was mentioned on cnn of 20'000'000.00 ? Why is Wagner getting this amount. These CEO'S made one heck of a mess and continue to get rewarded for failure and of the mess this country is in today. Why?

Laura   March 30th, 2009 3:09 pm ET

BAILOUT OF GM AND CHRYSLER.

Does Congress have the capacity to require top-level management at GM and Chrysler TO TRIM AT THE TOP from their personal assets? Why is that?

Where is the coverage of executives at the top levels of these corporations liquidating their personal assets to prop up their own companies – just as small business owners must do? Are any of those wealthy executives making personal sacrifices? If not, why not?

rob   March 30th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Rick, WHY ARE THE CONTRACTS UNBREAKABLE FOR AIG BUT THE AUTO UNION CONTRACTS CAN BE BROKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.........................REMEMBER THE YORKTOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Why is Obama Allowed to FIRE the CEO of any company he does not own?

I for one think this is unconstitutional! The shareholders of the company have the right to fire the CEO NOT the so called PResident of the US!
So why was this allowed to happen?

I don't agree with the way GM was run but still taking rights away left and right to our private institutions seems very unfair and almost like President Obama is trying to turn this country into a Socialist, or communist country and I DON'T LIKE IT!
He needs to step back and stop!

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:19 pm ET

I am just appalled that Obama seems to think he is GOD!
I think he needs to get back to the White House go into his little office and DO HIS JOB! Save this country and stop running around being on TV and TAlK shows and get to busniess!

He Has NO right to fire the CEO of GM and frankly that will not solve the problem anyway! Ridiculous!

dennis   March 30th, 2009 3:20 pm ET

how is giving the big 3 all this money gonna help?...nobody can afford to buy the cars they make now...they are hugely overpriced

David Soares   March 30th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

REGARDING THE COP IN DALLAS–COPS THEMSELVES HAVE A TERM FOR THIS–"BADGE HEAVY" THAT GUY NEEDS A WHEELBARROW, AN EXAMPLE OF EVERYTHING THAT'S WRONG WITH THE JUSTICE INDUSTRY IN AMERICA, NO FLEXIBILITY IN A WORLD WITH LOTS OF CURVES.

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

And I didn't see obama firing any of the CEOs on Wall Street???

He needs to get a grip!

He goes around on TV and Talk shows and on webcast saying he listens to us the American people yet he can't seem to hear us screaming "WE DON'T WANT TO BAIL OUT THE CAR COMPANIES"

So funny Obama seems to hear only what he wants and nothing else!

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

Cops are ridiculous most of the time!!! I have seen so many cops who are corrupt being brought to light it is sad to think this is what is supposed to keep us safe and most of the time they let the real criminals go and end up punishing innocent people!

I have no respect for cops!

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:26 pm ET

The cars are hugely overpriced because the Car companies are basically ruled by a stupid UNION!!! Get rid of the Union give these employees wages they deserve not ones they demand!

And the price of the cars go down! These american made cars are poorly built and don't have half as many extras as foreign cars and yet the prices are higher??
They expect us to pay for the overpaid employee wages and benefits!
sorry I will NEVER buy another American made car!

dennis   March 30th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

sharon the workers arent overpaid its the ceo's

Joy-Anne Romano   March 30th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Hi Rick,
It would make more sense for the President to bail-out the consumers of automobiles. If we have jobs and stimulus monies then we can buy the cars the automakers are trying so desperately to sell. The automakers wouldn't need any stimulus if the consumers were actually buying. I say NO MORE for them.
Joy-Anne Romano

Frederick P Carnivale   March 30th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

With everyone taking pay adjustments and loosing their jobs the UAW should step up to the plate. They say they have given back already. All the items they claim are future items that the companies can not afford anyway. Taking away health care from uaw retires, after they are on medicare, like they are doing with management retires, would save billions of dollars. A $5.00 an hour pay cut for all active workers would bring them in line with transplants in the U.S and save billions.

dennis   March 30th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

to put more money in our pockets to spend to stimulate the economy we need to get rid of income tax, property tax, inheritance and gift taxes etc.

Nancy Springfield   March 30th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

The problem with the police is they are military trained and often back from Iraq or Afghanistan. They can't separate when they are battling an enemy or serving the people. They are trained to use excessive force in the military. That's called a police state. That is what we are getting to in this country.

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

I totally agree with Dorgan, he is absolutely right and sad to see all this corruption being brought to light now after it has gone on for many years!!!

Jim   March 30th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Rick – Who were the other 7 senators?

dennis   March 30th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

how can the banks loan to people that dont have a job?

Joe Lynn   March 30th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Hey Rick. If Madonna wants to adopt let her adopt the Octomom and hopefully they all go away

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

@Dennis I beg to differ on the car factory employees my friend worked for a dstributor who made many visits to Detroit Car factories and the story is the employee would be paid $25 an hour to put one bolt in and the would hear disney music when it was time for one of their many breaks!!! And benefits were incredible for lifetime!

So I do know for a fact the employees were grossly and are grossly overpaid to do the same job as people who work for Toyota!!!

And I know why it is the UNION!!! something America no longer needs!

pcameron   March 30th, 2009 3:48 pm ET

OMG!!! The gentleman from NoDak, Sen. Dorgan is obviously a common sense prophet, and should have been paid attention to. Ya know, when agendas are set and pushed, people like Sen. Dorgan are ignored, to all of our regret. I sincerely hope President Obama can find a way to put this guy to work to try to set things right. An honest polititian....that's refreshing!!

Sharon S   March 30th, 2009 3:48 pm ET

Well it did not take Drogan or anyone else to prove to me that all or most of the people in Congress are just greedy and corrupt!!!

The thing I think it is time we take a look at the people elected to run this country and there we will find most of the problems that are breaking our country now!!! GREED

dennis   March 30th, 2009 3:49 pm ET

i worked my butt off at mitsubishi

Where I live (in Delray Beach, FL), we also have a homeowner's association which does not allow residents to install flagpoles with or without flying a patriotic American flag.

Sandy - Richmond VA   March 30th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Regarding school vouchers: Vouchers use taxpayer money to fund education that is exclusive to particular children. The process of application leaves children with uninterested parents at an unfair disadvantage. This country provides free public education unless you can afford private school tuition or the school or someone else (not the government) is willing to foot the bill.
The more children whose parents are involved in their children's education and receive funding to exit the public schools, the more likely we are to end up with a "failing" public school system. Think about who will be left in the public schools.

John, Gilbert , AZ   March 30th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Voucher funds for Charter and Private schools are taking away from the needed funds to have our Public Schools survive the cuts they are now facing. All private schools need to be able to survive on on tuitions and Fund Raising as all private schools have done in the past.

Parents that can not afford the tuition for their kids to go to private school must then send their kids to public schools. The need to improve our Public schools through out the Country and if private and Charter schools want to survive they must survive on their own.
They have done that in the past and their is no reason why they can not now. Many churches have lots of money to Fund these types of schools and should now start to step up to the plate. Public school funding is specifically for that.

Diana Kersey   March 30th, 2009 4:01 pm ET

In reference to the homeowner asked by his HOA to remove his American flag: It seems to me that Donald Trump faced the same dilemma at Mar-a-lago. How did his ordeal play out? If anyone could beat this, he could.

Enough with the "English" Prime Minister etc... the correct terminology is the British Prime Minister or the Prime Minister of the UK... England is a geographic designation – not a political one. thanks

Herbert Pairitz   March 31st, 2009 5:25 pm ET

IBM just announced the laying off of thousands of American workers and re-filling those positions in India. This is the only way the company can survive in a global trading system where many other countries have very low labor costs. Wake up, America!

lrhewitt   April 2nd, 2009 3:12 pm ET

Has anybody seen Joe Biden, lately?

Herbert Pairitz   April 3rd, 2009 1:14 pm ET

Now that we have proven that $20/hr. American labor cannot compete with $2/hr. foreign labor we should return to manufacturing and selling most products within the United States and bring back prosperity to the working class.

EvilDocta'   April 7th, 2009 12:01 am ET

Rick,
What happened to your cajones?
Spain has charged several former Bush officials with essentially WAR CRIMES regarding torture. Why isn't this being reported on CNN?
I think this is a lot more newsworthy than whether or not Brittney Spears is wearing panties on any given day. Who cares?
C'mon brudda' step up. This is history in the making.
At least MSNBC is living up to their journalistic responsibilities.

Conservative in Exile   April 9th, 2009 9:13 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez,

After watching some of your videos, I just have to say that a more irrational, hypocritical man could be found than you. You really do have your head in the sand, in my humble opinion. And I thought Keith Olberman took the cake. His idiocy pales in comparison to yours.

Casas   April 13th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

What is the point?\\

Why the normal people have to know every detail about how the S.E.A.L.s shoot the pirates in the boat , Its not enough with know that this guy is free and safe?\\

Leave Our guys do the job and worry for very important things.

Jorge L. Suarez   April 13th, 2009 4:26 pm ET

Rick We both know about the Castro tyrany reponse to the change of the White House, OK SEND THE MONEY AND WE WON'T CHANGE!
Change of Castro's policies will mean the fall of their empire. Fidel
and Raul were against the changes Glasnow and Perestroika, because they knew that a crack in the system will be end.
Now We know by now that war is not in the mind of President Obama,
He is going to meet with Latin America and this will given them an idea of the change between President Bush and President Obama.
What is the future of Cuba? More of the same! There is no reason of
hunger in Cuba because We know how rich is our soil and sea, hunger has been a tool to force the Cubans of how we are going to
eat today? Total domination is the only tool of this tyrany. I was 19
when Fidel Castro enter Havana, I saw him entering the University
of Havana with bodyguards and without his pistol, I was a Law Student
at the time, when he was able to walk, he had at least 100 bodyguards
around him. These brothers are EVIL, his father Angel Castro hated
Cubans and North Americans and transmitted this hate to his sons.
I hope that President Obama's policies help the freedom of Cuba, but
I have to see it!
