IN SOMETIMES YOU BREAK THE NEWS- Well here is the latest, in response to the many what ifs of Nanotechnology scientists around the world are championing using to stamp out many diseases and neurological problems that exist. These questions and many others have alresdy been answered, you see I know this to be a fact because I am a product of this new generation of Nanotechnology that is being marketed to the general public. All it takes is a nano-magnetic resonance imaging test to challenge my claims, if the truth is what you truly seek? This is your once in a life time opportunity to break that historic news story that will surely topple many.

Hey Rick, Just had to share that I have solved one of the most pressing dilemas of our time...Name the new first dog "US National Grand Champion of Canine"..."Wonder Dog" for short.

Just a few words on the what should be diclosed in the budget,
Everything but details about military spending, and funding concerning national security and international concerns,

Any other funding for the budget should be transparent, their are some things that we as citizens don"t need to know and also the world and that encludes even Cnn!
have a great news day

THIS IS INSANE. BURRIS MUST GO!!!

Posted February 26, 2009 11:00 AM

by Mark Silva, The Swamp

The plot thickens for Sen. Roland Burris, appointed to the Senate from Illinois by the former, impeached Gov. Rod Blagojevich, for whom Burris tried to raise campaign funds.

Burris' son landed a $75,000-a-year state job under Blagojevich five months ago, our competitors at the Chicago Sun-Times report. Not just any state job: A lawyer's job at the state housing authority – for someone whose own home has gone into foreclosure.

How's this for a lede:

"The son of embattled Sen. Roland Burris is a federal tax deadbeat who landed a $75,000-a-year state job under former Gov. Rod Blagojevich five months ago, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

"Blagojevich's administration hired Roland W. Burris II as a senior counsel for the state's housing authority Sept. 10 - about six weeks after the Internal Revenue Service slapped a $34,163 tax lien on Burris II and three weeks after a mortgage company filed a foreclosure suit on his South Side house.

A nod to Chris Fusco, Tim Novak and Dave McKinney for a story that is sure to drive that steamroller known as the Burris-must-quit train. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has called on the senator to resign, senior Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois has suggested that he quit, too. And state Att'y Gen. Lisa Madigan says it's OK to hold a special election.

At least the senator's son has a job.

If we are truly looking to cut medicare drug costs then we should allow the government to negotiate lower costs with the pharmaceutical companies. This is really a no-brainer. The money saved might even allow us to eliminate the "donut".

xilix   February 26th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Y is it only "white" hate groups reported?

Anne   February 26th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

The racist jokes are so old, get off of it already, especially ridiculous coming from elected officials. Only when this stops will racism end. Obama is a highly educated and eloquent man, much classier than Bush. We are blessed to have him. I find that it is the truly despicable ignorant people in this country that still find racist jokes funny. The ones who vote for the likes of Bush. Watermelons- C'mon-this is so OLD! Grow up!

D'nette   February 26th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

I wish I understood the hate for people that are different. We hate if we don't look alike, think alike. We hate people who don't worship as we do. We hate people who have disablities. What is it with HATE. I am blinding white, my father died in 1948 because the hospital he was in would not allow blood transfused from a black man to a white man. My father had a very rare blood type and the only person was a black man and because of that action my father died.
I do not understand hate of a person, of a deed yes, but what kind of person you might be does not refect by the color of their skin, or the God they pray too.

ClaudiaAguilar   February 26th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

People are not born knowing how to hate...they have to be taught.

Rick
The more these bigoted slug nutties act out and ID themselves, the better. That makes them a whole lot easier to spot, round up and deal with. In our neighboring state of Arkansas about 140 years ago, a Union veteran showed how best to deal with violent racists. He used the law backed up by hot lead. It took the Klan 60 years to recover.
History can be a great teacher

Just heard on Indian News that U.S. is going to give Pakistan $5 Billion. Knowing that Pakistan has given millions to taliban, knowing that our country is in shambles, we have no idea WHAT IS POLITICS now? Hear we work hard and our government rewards the guilty at our cost. GOD HELP US!

christine   February 26th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

What is it about with CNN you guys are obsessed with Race in America. Do you not realize that you make matters worse between people who are really trying to move this country forward? We are in a National Crisis, Can we not join forces to save what is left of the American dream? As America crumbles in front of us CNN makes the clear decision to drag up a past that NO American is proud of. Being a Hater is surely not the answer. Let's enforce our borders for illegals where is the money for that ? Is that this governments dirty little secret, why is no action ever taken and benefits like education, health care, social security being distributed to people who are not citizens and should be for a specific time period first. Then they need to get to the back of the line after every American born citizen regardless of race, color, nationality or religion. We are now fighting each other instead of trying to move this nation forward. Come on CNN can't you be more responsible in these efforts. America is doomed if news media's keep chasing ratings and putting all this hate into people's thought process. Wake up America we are about to fall TOGETHER. Government is running away with our hard work. The news media are now like the tabloid's. Shame on you!

indie11   February 26th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

Rick about the watermelon picture of the white house, of course its offensive. But as an African American, think about what my ancestors endured. Endless labor, beatings, rape and those were the ones who survived. And most likely those who survived were those intelligent enough to escape or strong enough to be kept.
Either way I have a pretty powerful legacy and it would take a lot more than a racist cartoon to offend me, I wouldn't even bother getting upset.

I had a "Neo Nazi" in my home once. (why not they are threatened by me that's their problem not mine as long as its just thoughts) Had the swastika tattoos, also a backpack full of written propaganda regarding the physical and mental inferiority of blacks. (yes I thumbed through it while he was in the john LOL)
And I didn't directly challenge his beliefs but did a pretty convincing slave imitation to make him "comfortable". My friends and I found the whole evening quite funny. He didn't.
He called me a year later and before I could hang up explained that his beliefs had been based on upbringing and ignorance and apologized. Tearfully.
Well at least that's one down!

Richard   February 26th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

We were wondering why President Obama is being called the "First Back President?" Because actually he is interracial – his father black and his mother white. We are not trying to be racist...

Dan Brumley   February 26th, 2009 3:32 pm ET

I think this would go along with once the citizens of the United States have lost everything they have they will have nothing to lose....so if you look at it from that perspective policies that the government has taken in cooperation with acts perpertrated by corporate america and special interest groups then this is the sum of those actions and of course for every action their is an equal and opposite reaction. With this said the perception from the entire nation is the government fiddled while Rome burned. I hate to tell ya this but after 8 years of leadership by confusion...the entire nation is lashing out and all races in this country are doing it because they are frightened and insecure...Insecurity has fueled the flames of many conflicts and worse...hope this helps you understand whats going on....

Biruk Terrefe   February 26th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Rick,,I wish every one would have a common sence to understand why the In the constitution of the united states of America clearly explains that people should have the conscious to know that all Man r equal, regardless of a skin color .Even in the Bible where ever seem to want to live by it ,,tells us to be good to one another, There is only one God to all human kinds...I wish we all follow our heart to do the right thing.

Rick,
I am a huge supporter of President Obama, and encouraged by all that he's accomplished in such a short time in office. That said, I don't mean this as a criticism of him or his efforts to pass the new stimulus bill which I believe was badly needed.
But I want to know how many others out there who were laid off from their job in 2008, who have been struggling to make a huge Cobra health insurance payment after losing their job– who thought, like I did, they would be getting a lifeline when they heard about the 65% subsidy in cobra benefits?? Trying to live on unemployment alone is difficult enough, but coping with a $375/mo cobra payment has been such a struggle, even reducing how much food I can afford and still cover my prescriptions.
So this news would make such a difference in my life–until I got a call from my cobra company and was told that– I'M NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SUBSIDY?? THE REASON? I was laid off on August 12th,
2008–and the subsidy is ONLY going to those laid off September 1st through Dec 31st, 2008!! I was laid off two weeks prior to Sept 1st and that is the only criteria being used to exclude me from this help??

I don't know who decided there should be a "cut-off date" but I do know that 2008 had the highest number of layoffs in years.
I'd really like to know how many others out there are in the same sinking ship?
I've written to my councilman, my governor, and also President Obama about this issue. I hope others will come forward and question this arbitrary cut-off date–we need to speak up for ourselves!!

I hope and pray you'll get the word out there, Rick

linda   February 26th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Dear rick, I love your program but today i question 1 part . Why give every nut the recipe to make a bomb. I know that anyone can look on line if you know were to look.. But there are alot of people that aren't right in their heads and never have been. Not just hate.

vgirl1   February 26th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

Why do we call these people things like skinheads, white supremists and other such innocuous name? Why do we call the groups they form and join names like hate groups?

These people are terrorists; plain and simple. We need to call them what they are. The media needs to call them what they are.

Why can't the country and main stream media face up to this? If these people were minorities or members of organized minority groups participating in such activities, we can all be certain the country and the media would be calling them terrorists quicker than anyone could read this comment.

d melvin   February 26th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

i am listening to these folks, who are probably saying we really don't have that strong leadership we can trust. i bet most people are concerned with unemployment checks, food stamps, low income housing-places they can move into now, health care, where their kids can get their shots for free,. I am really surprised that the administration hasn't thought of the wpa and the ccc.. spend the government on giving people jobs to clean up cities, do conservation in california. instead of giving money to financials and the cars, feed it to the people directly. by the way i heard that aig handles all the elected officials, pensions. maybe this is why it gets to go to the spas

JENNIFER   February 26th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Rick, it seems to me that politicians really dont know simple math. If you were to give every american in the U.S. 150,000 dollars, to pay theyre bills morts, ect. it would be a whole lot cheaper than this stimulous package. VERY SIMPLE MATH!!!!!!!!!!

Roger Boyer   February 26th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Rick

It appears that the American public and the stock market do not have the confidence in Obama as the media does. I have been watching CNN since early this morning and kept hearing how the stock market would spike today after the review of Obama's budjet was put out. The market is a minus now with 15 minutes until closing. Appears the media missed the boat again on Obama's popularity.

Timothy Joseph   February 26th, 2009 3:49 pm ET

I saw Obama's speech. He missed the real issue. All the people in that room are the problem. As most Americans are suffering, the people in charge (and who in my opinion are responsible for our mess) are still getting the same pay and have job security. I only wish he would have started his speech with " You in this room are to blame and because of the pathetic performance, our country is in termoil. If I could, I would cut your pay, benefits and pensions and lay half of you off. Those remaining better start doing a better job, stop the corruption & the waste in all your affairs. Your actions are now going to be tranparent to the American people you serve"!

Barbara Foster   February 26th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

There is a Maglev train project from Anaheim to Las Vegas that has been proposed for many years and now it may become a reality with an infusion of new Federal funds. From that same hub is a proposed high speed rail to Los Angeles and ultimately to San Francisco. This is very real and much more likely today than it was a few years back. The players surely see this as "the silver lining" of today's bleak economic picture.

meem   February 26th, 2009 3:53 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez: I find it disgusting that you continue to televise this negative press of these hate groups. They thrive on attention and as long as you and others continue to televise their actions, other groups will continue to pop-up. Since we do have a wonderful President, in the person of Mr. Obama; we need to be more sensitive in what we televise as newsworthy, particularly when it comes to certain subjects such as Hate, Supremacy, and Hate Groups. They don't need any encouragement; and that is what you do each time you make them the centerpiece of your newscast!

Bill   February 26th, 2009 3:53 pm ET

Hi Rick If we stop sending money over seas for one month how much money would be saved to help people in the us.and how many jobs would be able to be saved.

AlexandriaTabby   February 26th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Why doesn't the media call hate groups terrorists. They are plotting against American citizens. Distinguishing them from other types of terrorists distinguishes the Americans they target from other Americans in a marginalizing way.

Call a duck a duck Rick!

Biruk Terrefe   February 26th, 2009 4:02 pm ET

Hey Rick,,I think if the republican party wants to gain the trust of the American People..they should pick someone who clearly stand for the concervative ideas in a way that would let the party communicate with every individual citizen across the state directly and even gain the turst of the party between all members of the republican party.

Wesley M. Campbell   February 26th, 2009 4:04 pm ET

If the republicans follow Rush after his comment "get the country back" when they know it was the republicans via Bush & Cheney and the fact that they know it is well known that they never challenged then President Bush on anything... "get the country back...??? Come on already!!! Give it up , you obstructionists) lost and you have been sore , very sore losers to say the least. It will be a longtime before and if ever that the republican party legitimately challenges the democratic party, and get ready for the next election as your soon to be extinct party becomes trimmed all the more so real progress can be made in the United States for the real change we need and have voted for.

Rick Sanchez,
While working some days with CNN on the TV I enjoy hearing your comments for the most part.
I must say that I have to take issue with your constistant comments that there is no high speed train (magliv) between Las Vegas and Ca. coast.
Your correct not today but in the big press by this administration to explain why we needed to go along with the many phases of the Obamba bail out on all local tv networks Nevadans were told that putting people to work was the thrust and that may include a proposed high speed train to link Nevada and Ca. coast.

So my point is just this; today or maybe not even tomorrow but it has been sold to the State of Nevada as a reason to support and or go along with this hugh big Goverment we are not saddled with.

Please correct the record when your incorrect or poorly informed as in this case of the so called train to somewhere.

Bubba Jindal is an intellectual dwarf who is being crushed by the weight of his ambition. He was elected primarily by the other Bubbas in Louisiana, largely racists. Louisiana is near the wrong end of every important ranking of states, including percentage of votes for Obama.

Jindal would have no legitimate claim to future honors anywhere except in the south.

From a Louisiana boy whose ancestors fought for the Confederacy!

GET RID OF THE SWOOSHING SOUND! We are not impressed. Not only that but we often mis what you are saying, and for no reason! No one is impressed!!!

Douglas McHenry   February 26th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

The 'Cartoon' of the Post.

Why can't anyone see that this cartoon has very little to do with racism, but a great deal to do with a direct and or indirect (to incite) threat to assassinate the President of these United States of America?

The CIA and FBI, not the FCC, should be investigating or arresting those involved in the drawing, the editing, and publishing of that disgraceful cartoon in the Post.

Dose the first amendment (article one of the Bill of Rights) give a citizen the right to threaten the life of the President or to incite to assassinate him?

This is a very serious offense and should not be taken lightly!!

You were talking about hate groups growing in number. If those hate groups were made up of black americans, there would be a much greater effort to erradicate them than what is currently being displayed toward the white supremists hate groups. The proof is what was done to the Black Nationlist Party, Black Panther Party and the Black Muslims in the "sixties".

America should move with the same resolve against these groups as they are against the terrorists movement in the "East". Then and only then will the United States of America be able to move forward. One should not take these hate groups or any hate group lightly.

Kiki   February 26th, 2009 4:41 pm ET

Rick, you report on hate groups, but do you realize YOU are creating your own hate group? Just read your emails. They are mostly from left-wing liberals spewing their hate towards conservatives. And YOU, Rick are fanning the flames of hate by providing this forum. YOU and they continue to blast conservatives, i.e., Joe, Rush, Ann, Jindal. Liberals got what they wanted, so why are YOU and they still preoccupied with what the conservatives do? I hope YOU can see that all this hate speech perpetrated by the liberals is just as hateful as any "hate group" you report on. Think about it.

Eysa (ee sa)   February 26th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

When uninformed people follow misinformed leaders, serious mistakes are inevitable. The consequences are dire. Prejudice produces a peculiar kind of blindness. People tend to see only what they want to see and hear only what they want to hear. We tend to interpret the world around us in familiar terms. Unfortunately our judgment is limited by the extent of our experience and knowledge. All cultures are inherently ethnocentric. The mores and values of a culture are projected on the proceeding generations by contrasting the native values as superior to all others. Conflict between cultures is guaranteed by ignorance and the arrogance bourn from it. The friction between the Islamic world and the west has been created by the prejudices, greed and arrogance of western leaders as is evident from a six hundred year record. A calamity of great proportions looms before us if these unwise policies are not soon discarded. It is imperative that the aspirations and desires of all people are respected even when they conflict with your own ethnocentric views. By definition all Muslim people desire to govern themselves according to the light of Al-Islam. This is a pillar of the Islamic faith and therefore, we believe, commanded by God All-Mighty. According to the founding principles of this country, no one has the right to impose their beliefs on another. The Quran teaches that;” There is no compulsion in religion.” How then can you justify imposing a system on the Islamic people that is foreign to their culture and history? Open and honest dialogue without preconditions is the only way forward. Dialogue infers that the parties so engaged listen to each other; our leaders in Washington and in the mainstream media behave as though they are deaf, dumb and blind. Do you know the formal definition of Al-Islam and the basis for that definition? When you use pejorative terms like, Islamic radicals, Islamic fundamentalists and other commonly used adjectives in the absence of full knowledge of what Al-Islam is, you are engaging in ethnocentric bigotry. Read a book or two before you continue.

Jazherah MacMornna   February 26th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

Our country's in serious trouble. Rich Republicans claim to be patriotic, yet they scream about this small increase in their taxes. It's sorely needed; put another way: Your country needs for you to make a temporary sacrifice; so stop with the bitching.

Rick, I would love to know the political persuasion of the Mayor who posted that ridiculous watermellon email. Did'nt know it would be offensive? Is this guy brain dead, or from Mars? Suspect he is 'republican', one of the anti-people party: the obstructive, 'no' group that is still pouting they are not in power. Have a whole list of adjectives I can call them...none nice. I get sick listening to their nauseous say nothing whining in the news. When will they grow up & be the party 'of the people' & start working for the people they are supposed to represent? I see 5 yr olds working & accomplishing things much better then these self-serving, greedy, jerks that got our Country in financial crisis. I could never understand why Bush was elected in the first place, voted for McCain to get rid of him but that obvioulsy did not work. So now I am an Independent. The republican party is no longer a party 'of the people'. I am sure Lincoln is turning over in his grave. Believe that if Lincoln was still living, he would have voted for Obama. At least Obama is trying to do something to clean up the mess republicans & Bush gave us. Just what have the republicans done for us, the people? NOTHING! At least now, we have a man who actually THINKS & is concerned about doing something for US. It will take until 2010 for me to settle my anger, but if these rebublicans continue to act like wild & unmanageable kids, I will have lost my interest in listening to what they have to say. To date, I have not seen any interest, concern, creativity in trying to resolve our Nation's problems. If they want to say NO, just what do they feel is better? Continue to cut taxes for the rich? Sick of hearing that: done that, didn't work. At least Obama is the first one in over 8 yrs who is creative, has plans & is trying to do something. Obama has done more in 1 month than Bush did in 8 years. No wonder; Bush had more paid vacation time in 8 yrs than I had in 33 yrs of Real work. Too bad that the president is not looked at annually like the rest of us to see if he warrants staying on the job, getting a raise. I was always rated as Excellent, the highest rating. Yet, I could not get a raise because of the economy then I was let go in between 5 surgeries. Never had a chance to consider retirement, was forced to fend on my own. Yet, those jerks dare to call me for help on files I worked on over 7 yrs ago! This is the same arrogance I see in the so called party of the people on the daily news. Just makes me sick! Don't expect you to post this, but at least I got rid of some anger. Thanks for listening.

Rick: It would be greatly appreciated if you would discontinue calling attention to these hate groups. They thrive on attention and as long as you and others continue to telvise their actions and growth in numbers; other groups will continue to pop-up. Since we do have a wonderful President, in the person of Mr. Obama, we need to be more sensitive in what we televise as newsworthy, particularly when it comes to certain subjects such as these Hate Groups, They don't need any encouragement and that is what you give them when each time you make them the center piece of your newscast!

Regarding the taxing of the rich more heavily than those of modest means, Adam Smith, Mr. Free-market himself, said this "It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expence, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion." (Wealth of Nations, Book 5). Republicans take note: Obama is advocating nothing more shocking than the foremost proponent of the free market did as long ago as the18th century!

Edward Valverde   February 26th, 2009 8:30 pm ET

Rick,
For the second time in two days I heard a Republican complain about the fact that China is being solicited by this administration to continue to buy our debt. However, there has been no explanation of why this is a bad idea.
If it is a "bad idea" why is it? And if it is, why did we not hear about this outrage during the past eight years?
It would be interesting to find out how long China has been buying our debt and why, under this current economic period (recession), when the U.S. needs all the economic help it can get, it is such a bad idea.

Greed and mistakes made by less than 10% of homeowners will put all of us soon in a great depression if not already and unfortunately the other 90% will pay for it gravely as it is an American tradition. One for all and all for one …

Rick,
you were asking why hate groups are on the rise in america. You don't have to look further than CNN where your own Lou Dobbs spends every single day spewing hate against immigrants. He is so obsessed with illigal immigrants that I am afraid the issue has changed his brain chemistry.
He was trying to differentiate between violent hate groups and non-violent hate groups yesterday. If you inspire hate, you are worse than the dumb person who acts on it.
One day somebody will commit a hate crime in the name of Lou Dobbs. Then you guys at CNN will wake up and smell the hate.

Here's something to investigate. Texas billionaire Robert Allen Stanford used the public airwaves (radio) to push his scam. This is illegal under the FCC. Are they going after him? What about Sean Hannity? He hasn't said a word, no apology, nothing. Something is not right here.

Jennifer   February 27th, 2009 2:05 am ET

If Manny Rameriez or whatever his name is can pass up $45 million for two years w/the Dodgers...

We are in a bad recession. I LOVE sports as much as anyone but why not a salary cap on professional athletes? Talk about wasteful spending...and celebrities too. Some of these people have more money than they or anyone they give to could spend in 10 lifetimes, and there are hardworking people everywhere losing jobs. So then I was watching ESPN and saw Rameriz or whatever his name is turned down that offer and I just though you've gotta be kidding!!!

I love sports, like I said, but if all of the sports players, celebrities, etc. who make this insane amount of money (and George Bush, the former President is going to be paid $150,000 per speaking engagement) contributed even half of what they make...problem solved.

Just a thought.

Hi Rick! this may be a late comment re: Jindal's response to Obama speech but I just got to say this. Jindal looked and sound over eager to lift himself up for a coming election. And it's also pathetic to mention Obama's family history and His(jindal) family history because he sounded like he's advertising his family as a better educated family than Obama's. The more I would choose Obama over him because Obama would know how middle and low income families live day by day. That mentioned at the beginning of his speech made me pity him. He was used by the GOP to test the waters and they made a big mistake in doing so because it hurt GOP.more. What do expect from a very good and encouraging speech by Obama to Jindal's pathetic speech?

All this dancing by the President and the Administration over who is going to pay for this bailout............Why not US! all of US! Remember the FAIR TAX..........EVERYONE pays their fair share on everything that they purchase. It won't matter if you are rich or poor, young or old, employed or not. Imagine capturing taxes on everything that is purchased. Imagine taking home you're entire paycheck and deciding what you will spend. Imagine lower costs on everthing with the taxes removed.......at retail, at wholesale and at the point of manufacture. AMERICA would be competitive again in the world market. Imagine that everyone "working' under the table, doing illegal drugs, bartering.........EVERYONE pays on their purchases not on their income!

The DC Voting Rights Bill will overturn FCC guidelines in the District, thanks to DeMint's amendment, and it will abolish all gun control laws in the District, thanks to Ensign's amendment. I can't believe no else has noticed this, but i've heard nothing of it on the news.

The commentator this morning stated at the end of President Obama's speech that the soldiers he was addressing seemed more approving of some parts of the speech than others( judging by their applause level?)
When I was in the military, I don't care who was speaking to a military crowd, you kept your mouth shut and your hands quiet throughout the address. A simple gesture of respect and a statement of the nonpartisan position of the military. Tell me I'm wrong? Thank You, JPW.

I think that someone on the news should remind the viewers that President Obama was duly elected by a majority of the people.
He promised certain things during his long campaign and unlike most politicians he is trying to make good on his campaign promises.
The people want health care, they want higher taxes on the rich, they want the economy to get better, they want alternative energy. Did they think it was all going to be free?
When the republicans were in power they did their best to shut the democratic party out of the system and supported their president with great fervor, telling the democrats that they needed to back off, that the people had elected Bush and they should stand behind him. So why should it be different now that the democrats are in power?

Mr. Paul,

Instead of giving the money from stimulus to banks, why not have government loan it to citizens at low interest to pay off debt. Then banks would have the capitol to loan and citizens would be able to pay off the debt quicker and with less interest. Then they would be able to spend to stimulate the economy instead of giving it to banks in interest and not having any to spend.

debra devine   February 27th, 2009 3:41 pm ET

hey rick, i have a great idea how to stimulate! instead of just showing us all that money the government is printing, send all of us a couple of sheets of the paper the money is on , my mom says she will willing cut it and then we can all go shopping and while we are walking we can also lose weight.

So the mayor who sent that horrid email is quitting. Good!

But, even though the email's racist message is abhorant to me I think that the NATION needs to look more closely at the picture.

That's OUR White House there, yours, mine, ours. It is a SYMBOL recognized world-wide.

What that mayor did was more than racist. It was defaming a symbol of our entire country. I think that Blacks, Whites, and all shades in between need to be offended by that, if they call themselves Americans.

What that picture showed was NOT just a racis, bigpoed person, but sends the message that for all the progress we have made the smelly, nasty, slimy underbelly of racism and prejudice still lives in America.

ALL Americans should be ashamed of this. And ALL Americans should come together to put a stop to such actions.

I can’t think of a better example of the kind of cowardice that our new Attorney General, Eric Holder was talking about when he said we Americans are cowards when it comes to facing up to race relations in this country, than that displayed by Newt Ginrich at the recent Republican confab, when he pretended not to understand that the Atty General was talking about Americans being cowards related to facing that issue and not that we are cowards in general.

Its this kind of dishonesty, “spinning” and deceitfulness that we’ve had to put up with for eight years and that cost them the election. They claim the moral high ground with their stand on Pro Life, but none of them spoke up when they watched George Bush steal not one but two elections through trickery and deception.

D Ray East   February 28th, 2009 1:53 am ET

Rick Sanchez, It was the attitude you and the psychiatrist on your show 2/27/2009 had that is the problem and part of the cause of the 11 year old boy killing his fathers pregnant girl friend. Go ahead Rick stand up and shout that you and the Female psychiatrist did not cause this 11yr old boy to kill the girl friend. This is the problem you do not understand just how wrong the two of you are.

Even your language shows your bias against guns and anyone who has a gun. Rick you not only do not have a gun but I would almost bet you have never even fired a gun have you?

I know the woman that was a guest on your show has never touched a gun in her life. It shows because either of you would have to use a paper towel to touch one of those evil things. a gun is so bad that you would have to wash your hands after touching it so that no one would know you had touched a gun.

I am sorry but our founding fathers of this country never had something like this happen just because if it did. They would simply know that the young boy would always be such a problem that nothing could be done to fix the problem. We did not have fancy Psychiatrists back then. We did not have new agencies reporting this type of thing. If an 11 year old boy knew with out a doubt that he would be taken out and killed when this was over he would not have done this in the first place.
You folks have pushed all the buttons that say we have to coddle the child that did this. No you kill that child and tell every child that even knows or hears about it that that is what will happen to them if they do such an evil thing. You also do it to any adults that do it also.
I am the youngest person to have been licensed by the Hunters Safety Course. I took that course back in 1959 when I was 9yrs old. I owned several guns back then. I say I owned then I bought and paid for them. I had a shotgun that I bought when I was 11 years old. I bought it at a Montgomery Wards store in Medford OR. the Gun dept was down stairs. It was not till the next year they changed the laws on buying guns so I could not do it again. I had to get other to buy them even though I paid for them.
I also have never been convicted of a crime either. I did not say no traffic tickets but at least no drunk driving ones. Did squeal my tires once. I own more guns than you could be leive. I also bought my wife a gund for her Birthday. it was the BIG ONE TOO. the 50 or was it 25 Some such She was so happy she even cried. A girl friend ask her if she was upset she told all of us that she was so happy it was what she had wanted so bed but thought it was to expensive. O yes I got her a rifle a few years before that for Christmas. Most of the time we shot clays and targets. but we do hunt and eat venison and ELK plus Pheasant and duck. Matter of fact I will take you and Sarah Palin Elk hunting if Sarah will take my wife Moose hunting. ok.

So much for us Killer types.

The President has time after time satisfied most of my concerns . I find him to be the hardest working President we have had in my life time. Peter Orszag is a genus. I wish we could be out of Iraq sooner but so far I trust his decision . The Republicans are giving me attacks of nausea . I wish they would shut up and get out of the way. I find it hypocritical for them to open their mouth. No matter how much money we throw at this current sewer we find ourselves in without a manufacturing base in this country we are doomed. Tariffs must be leveled against third world countries importing anything . Lets have a level playing field. If we must bail out banks with multi billions of tax payer dollars lets at lest get rid of all the management that got us here.

Ignacio Gonzalez   February 28th, 2009 1:15 pm ET

The word our president uses "Transparency" seems to strike fear into those politicians who always spent tax payers money, knowing no one would question them! A new era has arrived.

Hey Rick; Is carrying water for Obama hurting your back? I tuned in to your left wing extravaganza one day this week and I couldn't believe how a person as big as you appear to be has managed to get into the tank for Obama. I've never seen someone who passes himself off as a bonafide news reporter blatantly slander conservatives the way you repeatedly do. I think that you have the same thrill in your leg as Chris Matthews. One thing folks like you don't understand is that forty-seven million Americans voted for Obama's opposition, and as he keeps pushing and shoving his agenda and spending habits down American's throats, the ranks of his opposition will continue to swell just like it did during Jimmy Carter's debacle.

Marianne   February 28th, 2009 6:41 pm ET

Just to let CNN know that we the conservatives love Rush. We know how the media makes fun of the Republicans and we are truly sick of it. We finally have people like Rush, hannity & Beck to let us know what is truly going on in the govt. We hate Pelosi, Reid and Frank, Most of all we hate Micelle BO because she hates America. We want America to win and BO to fail. This is my comment to all you Democrats. Pass this on to the white house. They are a bunch of Crooks.

I was disappointed to see that CNN chose to carry the full content of Rush Limbaugh's talk to the CPAC on Saturday. This man is a radio jockey.. and I have never heard of him holding any political office of any merit: not a senator, or congressman at any level..he's a showman....excerpts would have been more appropriate. Thank goodness for the remote.

SHoye   February 28th, 2009 11:18 pm ET

Politicians and new media are consistently talking about the billion dollar budget plan. It seems funny to me that no one argued or complained when our tax dollars were spent on banks, car companies, and etc. to try to fix the economy. Some of the same companies that are taking jobs overseas and closing down factories for the Americans. I would rather my tax dollars go to finding new healthcare programs, improving public schools, and creating new jobs, than helping company CEO's purchase a lavish lifestyle.

I have a great way for states to start saving money. We need to start drug testing all applying for wel-fare assistants. If I have to take a drug test to get a job and take a random test to keep that job, why can they not be held to the same standards????If they pass the test let them recieve services. If not, to bad for them. We would soon see a turn around in the money being saved . Alot of wel-fare wagon riders would loose their hand out real fast .

Clarence Piner Jr   March 2nd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Sir, has anyone asked the question about who was governing AIG? I recall in the mid seventy congress gave insurances companies a pass by allowing them to close their books to outside eyes thus creating this problem. If there had been over site prehaps we could have avoided this problem(s). I sure hope there are some long strings on this money with government oversite if not they will be at it again.

Hi Rick love your show you were talking about the judges sending those kids to jail I think both should get life .
When kids are sent to adult prisons they are raped and abused and if they fight back and kill there attacker they get more time added on to there sentence ,they come out of prisons with there lives shattered, kids should not be sent to prisons on any account they can be pushed in a more positive direction but a child that has been abused suffers for their life time and that is so wrong.

You can't be serious; Prisons are for profit. I thought all mainstream media knew that. These predators have to keep all beds in prison filled by any means necessary. The vendors make money off of the prisoner's family by not letting families send a care package; everything has to be ordered from a vendor and the vendor mails the package directly to the prisoner. The Prison System is another Wall Street Scam; a lot of money and kickbacks.

Why does anyone even CARE what Rush Limbaugh thinks or says?
I was a lifelong Republican until "W" came along and made me sick. I dropped my party affiliation. I have NEVER cared one hoot about Rush because he is a big fat blowhard. I know someone else already used that analogy. I would bet that more people identify with MY views than his.
By the way, when the market hit 11000, I fired my broker and moved ALL my retirement money out and into CDs making 4.25%. Because I did that, I can remain retired and not have to seek employment.

Christine Hunt   March 2nd, 2009 4:53 pm ET

I think you have hit upon a really big story. My teenage nieces and nephews have been aggressively pulled over by the cops, I don't know how many times. When I was a kid, there were not so many and they were community minded. Police have gotten really aggressive with these kids, common knowledge. Once I was in the car and they followed at an illegal distance...on top of us with brights on. I felt nervous. In Ottawa County, Michigan...they put people in jail if they can"t pay the fine. Then they charge them for being in jail. It doesn't make sense. Also, I beleive the Judges get a piece of the fine pie for their retirement. What is that reasoning? They privatized the jail and the food is atrocious, people gain 20 lbs. and everyone seems to be making money. Stay on top of this story please. I heard 70% of the kids in Grand Haven high school had been arrested. This is a small town America. I don't believe things have changed that much since I was a kid. Privatizing is a bad idea all the way around based on what I'm seeing here. We went from 11/2 cops for 2300 people to 7-9. I've taken a 50% decrease in pay yet my bills keep getting bigger. I believe this is a big story that the tip of the iceburg still isn't exposed yet.

Government should also be limited to helping companies onetime and onetime only If that be the case. Dear Mr. Rick Sanchez, would you please pass this around.

Mr. Rush, be patient not judgmental. Just because someone members of your family are working or worked as judges, does not make you a judge. Be patient with President Obama, Mr. Rush. President Obama is no Mr. J. Fox, and none of them are exaggerating on their requests to be heard. Whether you like it or not, Mr. Obama will be our president for four years if not more. You do well as an entertainer and you are not in the position to lead anybody. Please, just look at your own life and educate yourself a little bit more, maybe a college degree in something will help you, and don't forget your ABC and history. It seems to me that all that you want with your rackety is U.S.A to fail and maybe this could be because you have flunked in the basics of your life. If you do the talk, you have to do the walk. I made you a rime, “Mr. Rush do not be a Bush, people, people do not be hush, if you are brash, you will be bashed. I have a pair of shoes and I know how to use them.”
Sincerely,
A single father.

Liberalism, Socialism, Nationalism, Fascism, Conservatism! These terms seems to be the grumbles of the GOP. Now I think I understand how they intend to fix America. First, stop all of President Obama’s stimulus spending. Second, give a huge tax break to the wealthy 5% of the country. Third, revert back to the mid-1800 style of Government and completely enslave the remaining the 95% of the people. That way this could eliminate or reduce the need for AGI, CitiCorp, Bank of America, GM or Big Government. If something needs to be done, get the 95% to “Tote that Barge” or “Lift that Bale”. And you surely know what happens if they drunk. Maybe they can call it Rush Limbaughism!

Hi Rick,

This whole "Rush Mush" has gone on a minute too long...I just don't get it when the Republicans have been in office since 2001 and because of the outrageous spending during the Bush/Cheney years in Iraq etc...now the whole world is affected by this melt down! Does Rush's performance conjure up an image of Premier Limbaugh beating on his desk with a shoe shouting...."OBAMA WE WILL BURY YOU." For anyone but me?

Malcolm   March 4th, 2009 4:29 pm ET

Rick,

Rush Lumpbaugh won't change the 'publicans! They've done the same thing consistently when in power since the 1860s: manipulate the laws and regulation to shift more wealth to the already wealthy. This service provides the 'publican politicians and their mouth-pieces with places to stand next to the "money river", as Kurt Vonnegut calls it. Unless you get a place next to it, you'll have little chance to scoop money out of that river. Mainly, it's simple greed.

Anytime these people have been in power for a while, we all are treated to an economic crisis – look it up in your history books.

The 'publicans work to attract the votes of evangelicals, racist, and such, because they need votes and those don't cost them anything important. Many of the wealthy and the greedy party members don't worry about anyone else's welfare, but simply aren't numerous enough to get their candidates elected.

More of the same is virtually guaranteed, Rush or no Rush!

ARTHUR   March 4th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

Rick if you look seriousely into the justice system, you will find private own is the justice system, and big money is being paid too the carrupters such as JUDGES,MAYORS,DISTRICT ATTY,PROSICUTERS,LAWYERS,POLICE OFFICERS,WRECKING YARDS,CONGRESSMAN,SENATERS AND STATE RUN PRISON.PS.IT'S CALL USE THE JUSTICE SYSTEM TOO FRAUD THE PEOPLE AND GET PAID.BIG BIG STORY.

garnett   March 5th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Hey Rick,
Rush is like a YUNIK. The watchs whats happening in the US and and criticizes things he can not do. Let him run for public office, maybe President

nancy   March 5th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

in response to the issue of universal healthcare, I have lived in the us and canada and can tell you that canadas system is better, in general. Contrary to popular opinion, we do have private insurance companies that cover our residents in addition to the government sponsored contribution. Maybe the lawmaker in your piece needs to do more research

Bob Arklie   March 5th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Rick
I am a 70 year old Canuck who also served a tour in nam as a crew chief in the Air force. I agree that our health care system is not perfect, but my personal experiences over the last few years makes me awful glad that I am not living in the States right now. Don't get me wrong I love the country, but I have had 2 heart attacks and one was a quadruple bypass in July '05. In 2006 my wife and I went through testing and She was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer( for Dr. Gupta" Primary Peritoneal Carcinomatosis). In March 2007 we went into the Cross Cancer Clinic for final treatment- she couldn't eat. Marilyn passed away on 3 July 2007. The point of these stories is that it did not cost us one single penny and the Doctors and Nurses were the best and most caring I have ever met.
I also lost a friend who was diagnosed with a brain tumor (cat. 4) in Arizona. It was cheaper to send a Lear 25 from Winnipeg to pick him up and bring him back to Edmonton. It seems to me that the insurance companies are a lot of the cause of the increases in health costs. I am not sure but one of the news services CBS, ABC or such did a comparison between a hospital in Tacoma and one in Vancouver I'm not sure of the exact details but, I'm sure that Rick can find it.
Keep up the good work and I will keep watching you from my porch on my igloo.
Bob

dritchie@woh.rr.com   March 5th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Rick your recent program spoke about our health care system being better than Canada. What about those of us in America that are waiting for insurance authorization for months when we need a surgery. I have been told by my orthopedic surgeon as well and my neurosurgeon that I need a surgery and the Insurance company disagrees with them. I'm still suffering from my lumbar condition several months after I was told I needed the surgery. Keep in mind that I do have a serious condition that has already resulted in twelve previous surgeries. My lumbar condition as already resulted in me falling that caused an emergency surgery where I blew out a disk in my neck. Where is the great system we have in America where the insurance companies opinions can over ride our surgeons. It is my opinion that both of my surgeons are likely the best that Ohio has to offer.
In America it has come to the point that if your costing the system allot of money, your just not worth the cost.

If the Pope were a woman, the Church's position would be different. How dare he insist that a child who suffered enough by being raped by her step-father, be forced to either give birth or perhaps die trying to save the life of the twins she is carrying, which at this point are no bigger than the tip of your finger.

Norm   March 9th, 2009 3:59 pm ET

Hear again religion is dictating on how people should live. It seems to me that if they are so concerned about their people having faith, than maybe they should have some faith in their people.......

Rosemary Graham-Gardner   March 9th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

The case of the nine year old rape victim is entirely up to the mother who did the right thing.
The Pope should meddle with affairs proper to his own Church.
He is victimizing a nine year old rape victim, a Child.
I want to throw up!
Hellooooooooooooooooooo. Why does he not condemn the rapist.
If I were the mother, the rapist would not be safe anywhere in the World. I would find the bastard and kill him so he cannot rape any other children..
Time to sign a huge petition and tell the Pope what to do with his excommunications.
I was brought up as a catholic in Europe and became an Atheist at an early age because of similar actions by Pope Pius X
This Church is still in the middle ages, especially on women's affairs...
Take care of your own rape victims in your own Church please!

Rick Vanasse   March 9th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Rick about that case where the lady is being excommunicated from the church. Let me just say that after spending 12 years of my life in parochial schools. I know that the church is constantly clashing with science. Whether it be about creation or evolution or when they decided that eating meat on fridays was against church law now they are at odds with stem cell research. They should stay clear of science and stick to the soul saving business.

Amy & Ron   March 9th, 2009 4:02 pm ET

We are two catholics, who are disgusted with the catholic church's decision in regards to the 9-year old girl, mother and doctor. We feel that the catholic church is alienating themselves from there parishoners by making decisions like this.

JACK SINGER   March 9th, 2009 4:05 pm ET

What is wrong with socialism? We hav had it for years. Social Security, The gov't pays for police departments and the military that is socialized security. Also the gov't pays for education so we haave socialized education. The Repblicans should wake up to what we have. What is so bad about this socialization?
Respectfully, Jack Singer

Jocelyne   March 9th, 2009 4:05 pm ET

If you look back in history of all the people the catholic church has tortured, burned, and killed. who are they to tell us what to do. As far as I'm concern religon is the cause of many problems in this world.

Erik   March 9th, 2009 4:11 pm ET

I 'm a Christian that doesn't believe in abortion. I feel.. a nine year old girl that was raped by her father and has a chance to die, If she has the twin children. The person that is the guardian, should make a decision on their relationship with God and not the church. Who are the Catholic churches to excommunicate someone for tha acts of safety. When those in the church don't get punished for what actions they caused. Jesus himself said " don't look at those that sin and make judgement until you look at yourself and fix the sin that you have made. The church has no right to point the fingers at others.

Empathy   March 9th, 2009 4:19 pm ET

Rick,
About the 9 year old child who was raped by her stepfather: I think the mother has a responsibility to protect her child, which includes saving her child's life. This may require a "By any means necessary" approach. I am a Christian. In my religion we don't agree with murder (abortion) either. But when its all said and done, the individual has to answer for their actions. In my religion, we also believe in forgiveness not ostracism. If the mother of that 9 year old "Child' wants to be part of a family that worships GOD without feeling guilt for saving her child's life, she should join us. It seems to me that some people become so obcessed in minding other people's business, that they lose focus of the true issue at hand. Lets take care of the plank in our own eye before we cast judgment.

When will the American public tire of the special interest groups making demands of our President Obama – he needs to listen ONLY to the people of America! That's who elected him.

Jorge Agnea   March 9th, 2009 7:59 pm ET

Dear Rick

How does Rush Limbaugh draw 14+ million listeners to his garbage but I guess they are red neck southerners along with christian conservatives across America who espouse his kind of verbiage?
Where would he be if America didn't have the first amendment? Where was he born? Who were his parents? What kind of education does he have? Who is footin his time on radio? How can so many human beings believe everything he says? He, Karl Rove and Sean Hannity are the worlds worst and they seem to get away with everything as they somehow are hidden behind the Constitution. But, America doesn't need those individuals kind of rhetoric. But, for some reason they seem to be the only ones who are being heard and no wonder America is in such a shape. What is their idealogy? I know it isn't communism, but they may use some of it to benefit their beliefs
to their ignorant pubic. America is worse off with them on the airwaves and on television and in newspapers and magazines. That type of yellow journalism doesn't deserve to be heard it should be buried 6 foot under. Thanks Rick and Keep up your good show. It is the best. Those 3 aforementioned are the worst of worst in America.
We need positive and good things not the sarcastically comments or rhetoric that spews from their garbage mouths. Keep plastering them on your show.

Tom Ebert   June 13th, 2009 7:37 am ET

Ric, Re; Your comment struck me funny about why Pres. Obama did not say a word about Iran's election. FYI, in especially with repect to
family law. Ist person who speaks in negotiation usually looses.
By using silence your on a safe base and no one can find onus to
blame the other side. What can I say your a reporter, don't take is too hard. Tom

I think the nfl should let michael vick back, but he should be required to somehow support to some drgree the aspca, and promote better tretment for pit bulls and support pit bull rescues. some people can be corrected with a fly swater, some people need the sledge hammer, this guy got the sledge hammer to include mostly strating from scratch, and loss of freedom, and his family paid the price along with them the next natural step is reconcilliation to the animals society community and family. I believe vick can change if he is willing. if he has faith of a mustard seed. I think he might just barely have that much, but I hope it grows. and society help nourish that seed of faith.

Children physicaly mature before they are emotionaly mature enough to handle sexual relationships. If a adult sleeps with a primary school age child they should be imprisioned and have lifetime monitoring like a micro gps chip thin his spinal cord. or her spinal cord, cuz women can be epdifiles as well and the meotional damage is just unfair for children to endure.

If Juanita Castro has been here since 1964 why can't she speak English? Isn't there a Spanish channel on ccn? There is where the interview should have been there. The 3pm is English-speaking! My ancestors who fought for and settled this land where German and Irish. They learned the language–English!!!!!!!!!!!!
