Must...Resist...Power..Of...The...Sledding...Cat...

Enough with the Blagojevich already!

Illinois politics dominated the Rick Sanchez hour this week, keeping us from bringing you lots of important news stories.

Click on the picture and T.J. Holmes will tick off a few big stories that we didn't have time for.

Yes, of course, the sledding cat is in there. You think we could resist THAT??

Hi Rick,

What bothers me the most about the ex-governor of Illinois and former pastor and president of the National Association of Evangelicals is not the measure of their guilt (something that I admittedly know very little about), but the way they seem to incessantly want to hang on to the spotlight, even if it’s by a thread. The result? The unraveling of public confidence and trust in those whom we look to for leadership. For when image becomes everything, character means nothing.

Bush still haunts us

King George III – revolutionary war

George III is widely remembered for two things: losing the American colonies and going mad. This is far from the whole truth. George's direct responsibility for the loss of the colonies is not great. He opposed their bid for independence to the end, but he did not develop the policies (such as the Stamp Act of 1765 and the Townshend duties of 1767 on tea, paper and other products) which led to war in 1775-76 and which had the support of Parliament. These policies were largely due to the financial burdens of garrisoning and administering the vast expansion of territory brought under the British Crown in America, the costs of a series of wars with France and Spain in North America, and the loans given to the East India Company (then responsible for administering India). By the 1770s, and at a time when there was no income tax, the national debt required an annual revenue of £4 million to service it.
The declaration of American independence on 4 July 1776, the end of the war with the surrender by British forces in 1782,

1782-1765 = 17 years
1782-1775 = 7 years

President george – 8 years of destruction

Patriots

We whupped King George III in seven years and became Americans.
As Americans we can whup the devastation caused by 8 years of President George.

It isn’t who you are or what you do, but that you represent hope and change. Americans are strong and resilient fighters. Give our country a chance and we’ll come back. The Bush Administration exported our technology, given our natural resources to the oil industry, sold out American jobs to foreign countries with the proliferation of the H1-B visas, preferential tariff and duty status, and open borders, incompetent leadership and violation of their Oath of Office, and violation of treaties with the First People.

Think 9/11. Not the devastation and death but Mayor Giuliani walking boldly down the streets of New York. Our country pulled together as one. We can do it again.

Dear Rick,

There is no shortage of equally or more skilled individuals in this country as Tom Dashle, who could be the next Secretary of Health and Education. Why does President Obama feel that he has to push for Mr Dashle for this position, especially with the revelations of his tax payment "oversight". There are already enough people in our government who feel they are more entitled tjhan the people who they so call represent. The people who helped elect the President expect him to live up tp his promise to them: there will be changes from the past way of doing things.

Wells Fargo, and all the other entities that have received taxpaye'rs money should be made to return the money package they received, plus be taxed on what they have spent foolishly

Susan Justice   February 7th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Well, apparently what we missed was being able to comment on the stimulus package. There was not an option for this on your blog website. Hello! The most important vote in our lifetime! Not even being discussed here. Get your eye on the ball! Forget the "fluff."

So, Obama had a good stimulus bill (stimulus=spending). The Repubs are pouting and demanding "tax cuts" wonderful! Same old crap that got us into this mess. Lots of logic about how this won't work: Tax credit for new hires easy to scam: just hire, lay off and re-hire another. Collect tax credit for two.

Tax credit for losses in 2006-2008. Hello! Who lost the most??? Banks, investment firms! Just what I don't want to support again.

The tax cut portion stinks. Republicans have no idea how to rescue an economy – Again! and the Demos folding on us again (like keeping Leiberman, agreeing with tax cuts).

chintan   February 10th, 2009 3:27 pm ET

I was wondering if we can actually see what President Obama's stimulus plan is? Line by line and item by item?

Thanks in advance and I love watching CNN on cable and online.

Regards,

-Chintan

Nothing but Chicago crook strategies in Obama's administration, that's what this "Stimulus pkg" means to the average person. It was Obama that voted for the HIGHEST INTEREST RATES ON CREDIT CARDS EVER, so why does he WHINE about it NOT being his fault?
LOWER INTEREST RATES ON LOANS AND PENALTIES would give the people more money to spend.

This President is still on training wheels. We are at more risk of a terror attack now than ever before when Bush was in office. Obama is a joke.

We could easily control the misuse of family members and the welfare system when it comes to single moms being inseminated and delivering multiple births. Make the doctor responsible for child support. Doctors, as with so many people now a days, operate mostly on greed. Lets put their money to good use! If a tavern owner can be held responsible for allowing someone to drink too mush and kill or injure someone, then why can we hold doctors responsible for burdening society.
Along with responsibility, if my family experiences financial hardship, would it be right for me to get rid of my children, wife or relation, like so many companies are doing to their employees? Share holder greed is what you call it.

Rick:
Let the truth be known. These millionaire Republicans are not against the stimulus plan. They are against the man, President Obama. They want him to fail and do not care about hurting the not wealthy people of the United States.

I find it facinating watching from Canada.

To the banks it is okay for homeowners to bear the mortgages they hold on houses whose value has dropped below the value of the mortgage.

But it is not okay for them to be in the same situation.

If homeowners have to suck it up why not the banks.

l_fukuchi@hotmail.com   February 11th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

We're seniors, about to get married in two weeks . We both have excellent FICO scores . But do you know how hard it is for us to get a mortgage ? Where is this money the banks were supposed to free up so the little guy could have a chance ? Isn't this the idea behind fixing everything ? Get the mortgages rolling again ? And make the interest rates reasonable ?

Angel   February 11th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

We are sitting here at work watching the video of the home invasion would be robbers that got the WRONG house and wish he would walk into the bankers and wallstreet thieves office and light them up as well. lol now that would be a sight to see.

Linda   February 11th, 2009 3:59 pm ET

I hope the banks are ashamed at what they're doing to that poor family ! To have to resort to writing on one's roof to get attention ? How sad that our banking system is killing the middle class – soon it will be gone at this rate !

Am I the only person who finds the entire Nadya Suleman situation despicable? The woman had six children & now has eight more we the tax payers are going to be supporting! Anyone ever hear of population control? Common sense? Now she is trying to collect donations! This is disgusting! Anyone that gives her money is just perpetuating this idiocy!

joe   February 12th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Hey Rick–while you were talking conflicts with the stimulus, the speaker was holding a live news conference saying everything is a go for vote tomorrow. Maybe you should view MSNBC during your show!!
