Blogojevich: Ego-driven? Nahhh...

OK, so Rod Blagojevich had his final moment of uninterrupted microphone time as governor of Illinois.

It didn't do him much good. He became the ex-governor just a few hours later. They've even replaced his picture at the state house already.

What did he talk about? Well, he said he'd done nothing wrong, he asked his state senate to acquit him, and he listed several health care intitiatives, kids' programs, and ethics laws he enacted while governor.

What DIDN'T he mention? The U.S. Senate seat scandal that got his impeachment process started.

T.J. Holmes speaks to Ashleigh Banfield and Kendall Coffee in this clip. They agree that there was more than a little bit of "Blagojevic Ego" fueling his last hours in office.

Hi TJ

With the removal of Blago from office, it gives hope that maybe....just maybe JUSTICE will be served to the citizens of the United States.
His refusal to resign and arrogance made a mockery of the political system.
And just think, no more "sonnet reciting news conferences" during Rick's show LOL

curious one

Connie   January 30th, 2009 2:13 pm ET

How do I tweet Rick Sanchez???

Bridget   January 30th, 2009 2:19 pm ET

Blagojevich is finally gone, yes. Now I wonder if he will ever own up to his wrong-doings or if he will down down in history as just another self-righteous, corrupt governor of Illinois.

I checked the senate records on the Lilly ledbetter act that President Obama signed yesterday and only 4 republicans voted for it. Why is that not getting any attention?

I love Richard Quest. His accent is amazing and he's really smart. We need to have him on all the time.

jan dawson   January 30th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

Ggroomer   January 30th, 2009 3:32 pm ET

susangray   January 30th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

Project System 12 will play at his "funeral" :-)

I have mixed emotions about this situation. When everything broke I felt that the governor should have resigned. As it has dragged on and I have seen more of him, he is a likable character. I just have a problem trusting in any investigation that happened under the Bush Administration. I have a feeling they were trying to find something on Obama, and the Gov., got caught in the net.

Anyway, he is still young, and not bad looking. The media will continue to pander to him, as long as people are interested. We have the trial coming up, and I would like to see what exactly the Feds have on him.

Tom   January 30th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Rick,
I'm a loyal viewer and admire your honesty and loyalty too bad Sarah and blago don;t have the same characteristics.
Keep up the good work.

mb55   January 30th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

What happen if the Federal Gov't doesn't convict Blago can he overturn the process that the Senate Impeached him and become Governor again. Any legal sides to that????

Dana   January 30th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

So she has filed bankruptcy and bailed on a home recently, has 14 children and lives with her parents. I'm curious......are we as tax payers supporting her entire family as well as these children? Were we paying for the 6 she already can't support on her own. If so, her monthly check should be stopped immediately.

Bailout 2008, a poem by David Jeffrey

Like a bloodied warrior,
laying broken and torn.

Like a dying soldier, hopeless and forlorn.

But the blood, it be green,
the color of money.

And the soldier is an economy,
and it is anything but funny.

Broken are it's people and shattered are their dreams.

Thanks to the ultra rich and their full proof schemes.

It is a tragedy with more pain to come.

Finance will be Hell, and their wills will be done.

Please.. the only Reason the senate remove Rob Blogo is to save themselves and try to restore some semblance of confidence..

they all do the samething as Rob... all of them.. that is why they have rush to remove him to give the impression they are different bree.

Nothing can stop the course of history

Can Palin be impeached for spending more time
on camera than working at the job she was elected
for and being paid to do?Just thought I'd asked....

Veta Gardner   January 31st, 2009 4:10 pm ET

I watch CNN all the time and I have noticed that some of the news media
and sometimes the panel refer to the President as Mr. Obama or Barack Obama. Is it difficult for them to say President Obama as they do all the other Presidents? They refer to the Senators as Senators and also the past Presidents as President Clinton, President Bush, President . Carter. This might not be a big thing, But it concerns me.

Nan from Indiana   February 2nd, 2009 3:35 pm ET

I agree with the problem with the commercials, but I am sure it must have started some time ago, since we have been inundated with viagra ads..............who cares that the world is full of men who can't perform.........explain that to your children and grandchildren.

Also,
why didn't anyone ask blago why he tried to bribe 2 children hospital ceo's for 50,000.00 each.....health care for children?

I am beginning to think that our elected officials in Washington, DC do not believe they should pay taxes. Maybe if the IRS could collect some of this money, we could afford to pay some of the bailout money back. Wonder how many more are out there. Could the President possibly create a cabinet position to police their own? Oops, might not be able to find anyone who paid taxes!

Here is a nice practice from CITI Bank: when i have a 50K credit line and i use 10K with no late or miss payment i had a good credit BUT when the Banks cut my credit line to 12K now I'm a "in the high risk zone" since I'm in the limit of my credit . A GOOD PRACTICE TO TRIPLE INTEREST RATE FROM 4% TO 16.99%. PEOPLE WAKE UP . I closed all my accts ....saving / checking and specially credit cards. CITI Suck!

Dear Rick, With all the talk about the wall street bonuses. Why don't we clean up our own bad bonus situation. The Post Office is losing money and the higher ups get bonuses. Yes, Federal post office execs get bonuses They are talking about limiting mail delivery to just 5 days per week. I think its time to stop the Federal bonuses to the US Postal department. Please alert the public. Thanks

Pete Sessions (R-TX) said Insurgency, we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban," and added if Democrats don't give the minority more "options or oportunities", Republicans "will then become an insurgency". Is Mr. Sessions advocating war against the President of the United States? (The Taliban is waging war .) Does he understand that this is treason? May be the FBI should be investigating Mr. Sessions.

RICK:
I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THIS PROBLEM WITH THOSE FISHER MEN ON THE ICE FLOW IN LAKE ERIE ARE TO BLAME FOR THEIR OWN STUPIDITY.
THE COAST GUARD HAS A GENERAL RULE FOR LAKE ERIE THAT NO ICE IS SAFE ICE. YET EVERY YEAR THE ICE WILL SUPPPORT FISHERMEN OUT THEY GO.
IT WAS ON THE LOCAL NEWS LAST NIGHT THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE WINDY TODAY AND ANYONE CONSIDERING GOING OUT IN THE ICE SHOULD RECONSIDER.
BETWEN THE FIREMEN AND COAST GUARD THE EXPENSE OF THESE RESCUES IS HUDGE. THE COST SHOULD BE DEVIDED BETWEEN ALL THE PEOPLE THEY BRING IN.

Why can't we give each taxpayer/houshold $1,000,000 as part of the bailout? What is that–$100,000,000. What is a 100 mil compared to billions that we are giving to corporations and think of the good it will do for mortgages, credit card payoffs, school loans, etc. Why is this not being considered? Tom

Brenda   February 9th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Why are you guys always trying to make this mess that have been created with the economy, President Obama 's fought. If you have an idea or any guess have an idea on how to help then share with President Obama, he is open to good ideas. If you don't have something good to say than don't say nothing at all. And lets remember Obama has only been in office less than 30 days.

i AM FROM THE OLD SCHOOL, IT IS GOOD TO FINALLY SEE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE STANDING UP FOR THEMSELVES. LET'S NOT STOP AT THE CEO'S HOUSES, BUT LETS ALSO PROTEST AT THE CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS HOME WHO ARE NOT FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AMERICANS.

richard kelley   February 9th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Putting Americans back to work is this simple::"RAISE IMPORT TARIFFS".
This would level the playing field for product pricing. When "America coughs the World catches cold".Businesses have turned from loyalty to employees and country to Greedy profits at the expense of cheap foreign labor overseas.Americans purchase goods here when they have money. No job no money. Also ,foreign workers do not pay taxes here or buy our products. So all around we will benefit.NO POLITICIAN has mentioned or supported this.

Russ G   February 9th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

A-rod admitting to what he did took guts. It was 6 years ago. No proof he's done it since. Ok, so much for the integrity of the union and government that would even let his name out. So tell me then, how are there 104 names, and only his comes out? Sounds like a witch hunt. But I am glad of one thing. SI didn't get the scoop for the interview. That is one losing magazine and I woulld never read it again. So Alex admitted to what he did. Now let's see SI do the same. ok bigshots, admit how you found out?

arthur j. guidi jr.   February 9th, 2009 3:50 pm ET

the obamma stimulus bill is pork laden earmark and will never create jobs where we need them.
why not cut payroll taxes adn we all get a stimulus every payday adnits where it should go to the spenders not polititions.

look closely and you will come to teh conslusion that government no longer serves the people but controls them.

we need gterm llimits and get those politicalmachines (dem & nrep) who are strangling our country

John Quintero   February 9th, 2009 7:16 pm ET

Wake up America!! The Fat cats get fatter and the Congress gets dumber ( or is it payoffs). I think that the senators & representatives should go back to school ( ARE THEY SMARTER THEN A FITH GRADER). We elect these people to represent us and our state before the U.S Government, once they get there they pull their own agendas out of their back pockets and start stuffing their front pockets with cash and favors from lobbying crooks. It is time that we clean up Washington and send new younger people to do the work that "the pork barrel " can't do.
WAKE UP AMERICA, WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER AND TOGETHER WE MUST STICK TOGETHER

Lyssa   February 9th, 2009 9:45 pm ET

Due to pay decrease in 2008, we only earned a fraction of what we usually earn and had no choice but to stop paying our credit cards, we are now being sued by Citibank. They received a huge amount of bail out money and I just thought it was crazy that the same people who bailed them out are the same people being sued. So, I am paying my taxes so they can sue me! They should put a freeze on lawsuits from any bank that took the bailout money ( our tax dollars).
