Hey Rick, Love your show! Totally off subject, I can fix the economy! Starting at the ground up... First? Eliminate income taxes! Americans that have more money, SPEND more money... An instant economic boost to retailers as well... Second? End filing and refunds tax system...A complete overhaul... Some states cant even afford to pay the refunds now as it is! What good is an I.O.U? Anyone that owes looks for every possible deduction so they wont have to pay and anyone expecting to receive a refund looks for every single loophole possible to receive the highest amount possible... This is insane! Do you think that everyone claims ALL the money they earn in a fiscal year? A majority do but millions do not... i.e. delivery persons, waitresses, flea market vendors, prostitutes, drug dealers, sub-contractors.... They dont claim all the money they earned but, THEY SPEND IT! So that brings us to number 3... FLAT TAX! Everyone would pay the same and the only ones who dont pay their taxes are the ones that dont spend any money. Higher earning americans would pay more because they spend more and not because they "made too much money" Everyone would be in the same tax bracket. So in 3 easy steps i have effectively, stimulated the economy, saved trillions, and generated trillions more. Its a known fact that americans spend more than they make.... So why not tax them where they spend it and not when they earn it? Tax cuts wont do it... Eliminating income tax would... A complete overhaul is necessary and way past due... I also have a plan to create thousands of jobs and generate trillions more in income as well! I'll send that next time..Thanks for your time sir... Again, love your show!

A DEMOLISH ECONOMY THAT BUSCH LEFT AND THAT OBAMA IS GOING TO CLEAN UP FOR 2 TO THREE YEARS AND IS OUR JOB AS AMERICANS TO HELP HIM AND CLEAN IT.......

Ted   January 26th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez,
It is perfectly okay for you and your counterparts to address the President of the United States as Mr. President, President Obama or the Obama Administration. Just calling him Barak Obama is another form of disrespect to the position he holds. Plesae be more professional and pass it on to your other professionals in the news arena also.

Read "Propublica.org", and see where and to whom got some of taxpayers Bailout money. Eric Cantor wife Diana Cantor and guess

CNN reports: Asked on "The View" about his foul mouth, Blagojevich said, "Had I known somebody was listening, I wouldn't have used language like that."
That says it all! Only when people are watching or listening does he do the right thing! Wonder what else he does when he thinks he 's "private"?

Connie Snyder   January 26th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Thanks for the report on the new plane we just bought for Citi's bigwigs. They are like the last, big drunks to get tossed out of the bar at closing, aren't they? Shut him down and toss them out! Find out those signed for that P.O. and cut them loose. Enough, America!

Deb   January 26th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Have we forgotten how the comments from Dixie Chicks ruined their careers. Well how bout Limbaugh. He needs to shut up and sit down and enjoy the ride. Give this administration a chance. Houston Texas

CESAR D CORDOVA   January 26th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

I guess they do not learn. I would like to know what President Obama thinks about this. Has he made a comment about it/?

Mike Conwell   January 26th, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh was already on his way to being irrevelant when the members of the Republican Party chose John McCain as their nominee. Rush has spouted all sorts of nonsense at McCain for years.

So if current GOP are listening to Limbaugh on anything, then not only are they out of touch with their Country, but their own party members

Margaret Paulk   January 26th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

It astounds me that the republicans would contest President O'Bama's encouraging the auto makers increase fuel efficiency. They (the auto makers) have been loosing sales to the more fuel efficient foreign makers for years or they would not now be in such trouble.

CynCritter   January 26th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Perhaps we should STOP bailing out banks. Just divide up their assets amongst the one who have money in them, and then let the frackers fail.

Phil Dutcher   January 26th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Regarding Citibank... I am a customer with an 805 credit score who recently saw his interest rate raised from 11.99 to 17.99% when I called to complained I was told that even though I am a preferred customer there is a recession on and they needed to raise everyones rates... now I know why they need the cash, wish I had a $50,000,000 jet too! My solution was to dump Citibank....

Russ Titsch   January 26th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Rick,

Bush correctly did not sign Kyoto because the China and Indonesia did not have to participate, and because its was designed specifically to injure the United States economy, leaving us in a more precarious position than we are in already. Rick read less Slate, Huffington and Daily Kos, and more WSJ and Forbes.

I am outraged! Citibank is my mortgage company. Because of my husband's health issues over 2 years we are now behind for the first time in 20 yrs. I have only 9yrs left on my mortgage and the only thing they offered to me was to extend the term another 10 years! That is more money in their greedy hands. When is all of this going to STOP!

leo cruz   January 26th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

are the banking folks the elite and do not care about our money? It is our money that they are using. Congress should put a stop to this, NOW

C Denny   January 26th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

I am fuming about the $50M Citibank has spent on a corporate plane -and wonder what they'll do with the other billions of dollars. How would it effect us if we all took our business elsewhere?

Marc Kaplan   January 26th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Dear Mr. Sanchez:

It is hard to believe that we have absolutly no control on what these companies that recieved our bailout money. I own two (2) businesss with one (1) doing well and the other, well.. I had to lay off Fifteen (15) people.

As the new President said, we are not Democrats, Republicans or Independents. The world has changed and globalization will be with us. We all need to start working together. Regardless of politics it will still take 5-8 years to improve and thi ngs will not go back to the way they were.

We are probably better off in the long run.

Lisa   January 26th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Hi Rick,

Regarding the plane that Citi just purchased: it's a shameful travesty.

David Foster Sr.   January 26th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Rick, this is a classic but sad tale in ouor country now!!! The Rich try and keep themselves rich at the expense of others...They don't care about the people who got them there, only the people who stand to loose the most. When will ALL ( rich & poor ) Americans truly care for the rest of us!!

Susan   January 26th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

Why is Citigroup allowed to buy a airplane when there are hundreds of thousand of people that are without jobs and cannot even pay their bills or citigroup. I am calling them and letting them know that since they have so much money to buy a plane that I guess they do not need my payments anymore.

marlene robinson   January 26th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

PULEEEZE get and REPORT the whole story(ies) I am not an avid Rush Limbaugh fan, however a disservice is being done to him by citing part of what he said. He did NOT make a categorical statement that he wants Pres Obama to fail! What he did say, was, If Pres Obama is going to ....{citing various plans the Pres appears to be pursuing) THEN, yes, he wanted him to fail. Rush had very specific caviates to this. ome on! Tell it like it is!

And I agree with Mr. Limbaugh 500%. If Pres O continues with the agenda being laid out, the US of A is on a fast track to destruction! Count on it! God will no longer bless our country!

Re: Citigroup Plane
How well will it float?

Kewanee in Charlotte   January 26th, 2009 3:27 pm ET

I think the government should bail out the American citizens instead of the banks, since the government wants to give money away, give each taxpayer $200,000 and the financial crisis would be over. We could pay our credit cards, catch up on our mortgage payments, and maybe buy an American made car. There might even be some left over to invest in the stock market.

LCS   January 26th, 2009 3:27 pm ET

The fact that Citigroup will use a portion of the bailout money to purchase a corporate jet is appauling!!!!!! Rather than use this money to increase the amount of money that they lend to college students through their student loan program or to rehire some of the employees that were recently laid off from Citigroup, they choose to use the bailout money to purchase a corporate jet...This situation sickens me...

The federal government should not provide another dollar of bailout money to these ailing companies. I don't care if all of these companies collapse! It's obvious that these ailing companies suffer from financial mismanagement issues that the federal government cannot solve.

Bill Alvarado   January 26th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Rick:
How is it that the congress and the senate can seat back and watched our country go down in chambles the economy is bad enough and now they need to act or get out the way and do something positive for us WE THE PEOPLE they need to help us or quit their jobs there is alot of unemployed people and I am one of them they should be ashamed of themselves for the grid lock that they created and be more resposible for waht they done for the past eight years Shame on you republicans

Tony Henderson   January 26th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Why isn't the money given to these companies as part of the bailout package regulated by a government entity? I mean we bail these idiots out and the first thing they do is waist 50Million on a private jet? When is someone going to start regulating what the money can and should be used for before they receive it? If they are going to use it on stupid purchases that have nothing to do with helping them out of a situation, but instead adding to the problem, then they should not receive any government bailout funds at all. No wonder people are mad as hell about the banking crisis in the US

Mike Clements   January 26th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

If these bailouts to the banks and others, continue to abuse the money they were given by the our government, then our government needs to DEMAND of them where the money has gone and why. Anything short of this may eventually lead to a tax payer revolt. If the bulk of this country were to refuse to pay income taxes, what could be done about it?

I am mad as hell over Bush signing the first bailout, and I am opposed to any other so called bailouts. Maybe had that money been sent to every legal citizen in this country, we might not have a few banks, but there wouldn't be the foreclousures we are seeing, and perhaps the auto industry would not have been effected the way they are now!

Redhead   January 26th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Rick! Great reporting and I like your tone. How much is CitiBank spending on a jet and how many employees annual pay would be covered by NOT spending that money on a fancy jet?

It's disgusting and unfortunately is typical of American big business. these attitudes of MASSIVE entitlement are bringing us all to our knees. We need to end corporate "personhood" and hold these behemoths accountable for their crimes against humanity. Okay that's a nit sensationalistic, but then so is rioting in the streets.

My hope is that some day we will be motivated by doing right and upholding our core values rather than this greedy me, me, me mentality that has been at the helm for longer than I can imagine.

Minix100   January 26th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Hi Rick,

It is amazing that during this dire credit crisis the banks won't loan money to anyone, yet they will spend $50 million freely on a frivolous private plane! They say it is for security purposes, but if I bumped into a bank exec on the street, I wouldn't have a clue who they were. By the way, if they traveled economy, no one would ever know who they were!!!!!

Sandee Kosmo   January 26th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Enough already. I am surprised that we American people have not started a revolution, and now Citi Bank blows millions on a 12-passenger jet. Not one more penny should go to the financial community. For that mattter, OUR money should be retrieved for lack of ANY judgment in using what was given them. Strange that my credit card went from 7.9 percent to 25 percent–shouldn't it have gone the other way, since I am helping bail them out of the mess THEY created.

Can President Obama get our money back?

Sandee

JMBarrett, Rhode Island   January 26th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

I know people who possess Master's degrees, Doctoral degrees, and who don't posess a lick of common sense. It seems CitiBank is a repository for these people. I understand that withholding government support when Citi comes begging would result in more massive layoffs, but do we just throw up our hands in defeat and hand them yet another multi-billion dollar windfall, or do we finally insist that Citi sweep their employee rolls free of greedy, unconscionable corporate morons and at least temporarily appoint ethical, responsible, knowledgeable people to manage the tax-payer's money until there is an economic turn-around?

Moira Williams   January 26th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Re: Rush Limbaugh...When Rush was fairly new on the scene, I heard about him, so tuned him in while gardening one morning. His first words were : "There's a new dog in the White House, and, Boy! is she ugly!!! Her name is Chelsea."

Chelsea Clinton was, at that time, 12 years old! I was so appalled at his cruelty to a child, I actually threw up in my flower bed. To this day I cannot hear his voice with out feeling nauseated, and cannot understand how people who consider themselves decent human beings can listen to him and actually respect what he says.

Barbara   January 26th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

I can't believe that Blagojevich thinks he is doing the right thing. He is crazy. If he thinks because he boy cotts everything will go away he's really crazy. I can only think it's going to get worse for him? Why isn't he required to be there? Too bad he couldn't get locked up for not showing up.

Limbaugh is a joke and needs to stop taking the drugs he's taking. He is wrong when he says that Obama will fail. Obama is the BEST thing for AMERICA!!

soiknine   January 26th, 2009 3:32 pm ET

Rick, Did the U.S. government not have "ANY" strings attached to the money we gave them? Can we pull back any of that money? Seems like they should have to get some sort of approval from us before making expenditures like this? Ron Halman, Nashvile, TN

It's amazing that the banks can't loan money, but they can RUN right out and buy a jet for their over payed executives..Great example of those who need to be fired!!

sharon brown   January 26th, 2009 3:35 pm ET

what happened to Howard Kurtz and "Reliable Sources?" It wasnt on Sunday and I, for one, miss it.

Mark   January 26th, 2009 3:35 pm ET

Banks and corporations have shown they cannot be trusted to steer this economy into more stable waters or spend bailout money in a way to stimulate our economy. The Merrill Lynch-UBS bonus debacles are proof of this statement. They , along with oil price manipulators, are intent on bringing down the global economies.

Any future stimulus packages, both here and abroad, must be directed at those who can stimulate through broadbased spending, not hoarding and wasting.

If we don't, there will be rioting in the streets here too, not just in Iceland!

mary j parkerson   January 26th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

People should start taking their accounts out of banks like Citibank. All accounts are movable in one way or another. If they are that irresponsible I would't want them handling my money.

Marilynn Hines   January 26th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

The money the government gave to Citi Corp. CEO’s, CFO’s to help them bail out their financial problems – they could have given that money to me (unemployed for two months) to distribute the money in the right area of that company. It doesn’t take a rocket science to understand basic accounting.

Some BIG SHOT BALLER’S (Citi Corp CEO’s and CFO’s) just don’t get it!

I am so sick of everyone going after bush now talking about the torture situation..what about all these countries who beheaded our citizens who were not terrorist or even in the military. nobody wants to talk about that. As far as the UN pushing Obama to investigate Bush..I think they need to clean their own house before they come into ours and start telling us what we need to do.

Mark   January 26th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh is nothing more than washed up, drug addicted bag of hot air. He's not worthy of anyone's attention!

Just how much did Citigroup contribute to the Democratic Congressional Re-election Fund.....

rita nalette   January 26th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

I had read the Constitution and the Bush administration was violating their oaths of office. It cost me $200.00 to file my challenge in The United States Court of Federal Claims (No. 06-355 C, Filed: may 1, 2006, Assigned to: Judge Marian Blank Horn, Clerk: Brian Bishop). I got the crap slapped out of me but I had fought and it is on record. I am an American and we stand up and fight when we see a wrong being done.

Let it go! Obama should not prosecute Bush. I am a Democrat. But, I say it is time to to move on and all energy should be focused on the economy and the two wars!

Osalt   January 26th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

The Obama Administration is obligated to investigate the Bush Administration regarding torture.

susangrayn   January 26th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Brenden   January 26th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

I remember watching a news report along time ago about torture , and a reporter was asking Bush whether there was waterboarding going on. George Bush was pushing the question away everytime the reporter asked about it. I really think george w bush should be subpoenaed as soon as possible!!! He has commited war crimes!! I also think there are going to be an infinite amount of witnesses to testify. If Barack Obama wants change this is the time to do it!!!

joe atick   January 26th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Rick....who listen to Rush Limbaugh , they should move his talk show to the Disney Channel , will be very entertaining for my kids .

Dick Bailey   January 26th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Rick,
Someone should slap the idiots that released the "BILLIONS" to City Group with NO STRINGS ATTACHED......a 50 MILLION $ 12 seater......you've got to be kidding!!! I love Obama, but who's going to be watching the disappearing act on the next 850 BILLION????

Deanna   January 26th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Bush and Cheney did so much wrong during the last 8 years (911, Iraq, Katrina, Wall Street), and should be held accountable. Their actions have been a catalyst for the economic drash felt around the world. President Obama has so much on his plate that must be addressed immediatley, it will probably take quite some time before their crimes can be thoroughly investigated. Hopefully there is no timeline after which they could not be prosecuted.

Darla   January 26th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

I am outraged by Citigroup and the use of TARP FUNDS for the purchase of a 50 million dollar jet.
50 million would feed a lot of poor people who are struggling to just make it to tomorrow. Feed their family, put the kids through school, pay the car bills, pay the house bills.
it is so obvious that the government and the corporations of america are so out of touch.
Its evident that both political parities are the blind leading blind.
the republicans don't want to fund education for americans yet they give away money to corporations to buy jets!
this government is broken and its people need to stand up for our rights.
doesn't the government have any say so as to how the tarp funds are being spent?

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?????

CATHY   January 26th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

I think if Citi Bank is doing so well that they can buy a 50 million dollar plane then they need to give all the money back to the tax payer that they took! We the American people are struggling, out of work and hanging on by a thread in some cases put out onto the streets. The CEO in all these companies are still living high off the hog. Our Hog!!

Cathy

I agree with "Kewanee in Charlotte". Stop bailing out the corporate criminals! Bail out the American taxpayers – the ones who are footing the bill for Citibank's airplane – the ones who are loosing their homes, or can't afford to send their kids to college, or are having to postpone their retirements for another five to ten years! "Executives" such as John Thain and "corporations" such as Citibank should be charged as criminals for ethically financial negligence and abuse of power!

Deanna   January 26th, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Who cares what Rush Limbaugh says? Do you really expect words of wisdom from a junkie?

I WANT A GOVERNMENT BAILOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rich from Chicago   January 26th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Rick – you're kidding yourself if you think comedian Rush Limbaugh will accept an invitation to appear with you. Rush Limbaugh neither invites or wants opposing opinion or thought. He reminds me of that little kid who throws rocks from a distance, then hides behind the bushes to excitedly watch the fallout.

Kent Allen   January 26th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Is it me, or is Rush Limbaugh looking more and more like Jonathan Winters...and making just about as much sense as one of Winters routines of yesteryear?

nancy   January 26th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Rick just be glad Limbaugh thinks your not a journalist. It would be like McCarthy thinking you were a communist. limbaugh has no idea of what a jounralist is he a terroist promoting hate.

Richard Sobieray   January 26th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Rick:
The last thing we Americans need is to be judged by the morons from the U.N. Your "foremost expert on torture" needs to include the taxpayers of this country who are extorted and tortured by our support for this useless and corrupt organization. We need to put this entire organization on trial.

Pam   January 26th, 2009 3:53 pm ET

After listening to your re-explanation of Rush Limbaugh's comment about president Obama, I think you have been more than fair and framed his point of view fairly. Since he refuses to respond live on your show, don't even bother giving his comments legs anymore. He gets way too much publicity anyway for some very narrow points of view.

He sure is brimming with sour grapes over this election, isn't he? Wouldn't it be nice if he would give our new president the benefit of the doubt?....I will not hold my breath on that one.

Rick,

If Barack Obama is going to change things, and people. Then he should prosecute George W Bush to the full extent. Blago is nothing compared to how many things Bush did!! George W Bush should be the one on all of the talk shows telling everyone that he did't torture and not Blagjevich!!!

Osalt   January 26th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh and Rod Blagojevich are both diliusional in their own right. Two nuts trying to make themselves heard. Both are doing a dis-service to our country. Any network giving these people press are doing a dis-service to our country.

Tom MacDonald, Mississauga, Ontario, Can.   January 26th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh should get his head out of his you know what. Liberalism isn't what got the U.S. to its current state. It was the ultimate statement of conservatism that did it. The Bush tax cuts turned a projected surplus into a devistating deficit. His views on democtratizing the entire world didn't help either. Rush has a great following with ten percent of the population; but, the rest have no use for him, anyway.
Tom MacDonald

John Guidone   January 26th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Guess What Rick? Atheists, Jews Christians, Buddhists all have so called hypocrites among them. The object of the Christian faith, Jesus Christ was not only not a hypocrite , he was sinless. To defame a religion because a professed believer is a hypocrite is irrational.

Don Fountain   January 26th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

Hello Mr. Sanchez:

You talk about President Obama investigating Mr. Bush? The United Nations says so? When the United Nation gets a proper backbone instead of jelly that fills that space, and try those that hide behind women and children and use them as human shields, send mentally challenged children to blow up as many people as they can, then I would say they could investigate Mr. Bush. First go after Hezbollah and Hammas and Al Quaeda for out right murder. Mr. Bush could not even come close to the torture these barbarians inflict on innocent people. What a stupid suggestion from such a weak organization.
!!

The Geneva Convention Consolation Prize:

After the inauguration, Barack and Michelle Obama walked George and Laura Bush to the Marine Corps One helicopter. He waved goodbye, and someone with me in the room said:
"Bye-bye George Bush; we won't see you again."
And I said, "Don't worry, we'll see him again at the war-crimes trials."

Hi! Just on Rush Limbaugh hoping for Obama/liberalism to fail. What amazes me about this is how he forgets that Obama didn't usurp power – he didn't stage a coup – he didn't force his way into the white house. He was, through our democratic process, put there by millions upon millions of Americans. So at this point – especially so early in the game when those voters are still behind him, to hope for Obama and what he stands for to fail – is to hope that a large majority of Americans and their ideals will fail. I hate to use the term "unamerican" – but that's pretty close. Our politicians are the sum of the people that put them there. Obama doesn't stand alone. Just my two cents. THANKS :)

You are definitely taking a VERY LOW ROAD when you give any recognition to anything Lumbaugh says. You are reducing the calibre of CNN reporting. In my estimation, it brings you down to his anti-intellectual lever. It is tragic to watch and I have changed channels while you are on. Get a grip and come on back up to DECENT REPORTING. K. B. Citigroup just purchased an airplane, yes it might not be the right time. Yet please think that this purchase is helping keep people in their jobs for at least nine months ( time it takes to manufacture an aircraft). In the next weeks in Wichita, Kansas (home of the three major executive aircraft manufacturers) the aircraft manufacturers will lay off an additional 7,000 employees to the all ready 2,000 they have layed off . This is a city of 354,000.00 people the impact to businesses that offer services, sub-contractors, hotels, stores, real estate to name a few be devastating . In addition to pilots, food vendors, cleaners workers that are employeed today and tomorrow will be in the unemployeement line. Also at times it is cheaper to fly a private airplane than purchases airlines tickets for twelve individuals.

I do not think it was right for the bank to buy an aircraft today, yet the purchase is helping some people keep their jobs.

Dear Mr. Sanchez; Thank you for your winderful show which I see almost every day.

Regarding Rush limbaugh whom I think is one of the shameless, arrogant person I have ever come across like George Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and many more republicans which don't hesitate to distort the truth and lie to the people for their own benefit , I get sick in my stomach any time I hear their names or hear their voices. Thanks God that eight years of the Bush nightmare is over.

I am looking forward to the day that I see them in an international court being tried for all the craimes they have done against humanity.

Martha   January 26th, 2009 4:01 pm ET

Rick, you are right. Rush should not be a coward. He should appear on your show. I also heard him say "He hopes Obama fails".

Larry Garner   January 26th, 2009 4:04 pm ET

Gitmo is a "No Brainer" when it comes to closing, but the desicion as to where to send the suspected Terrorists is a tough decision. During the 2009 Election, they were Polls and more Polls. I think the Obama Adminstration should try doing polls on these very tough decisions he has to make, just to get a "Broad Survey from the People". Statistics show that there is better chance to get it right, when more people are involved. Do not get me wrong, the people will not be voting, they will just Aid in the Decision Process.

Richard   January 26th, 2009 4:04 pm ET

Rick,
You have to understand that Rush Limbaugh is just in it for his ego and the money. He has become a caricature of himself. If he isn't outrageous then he loses listeners. I will bet him $1,000 that he can not go one week on his program without name calling or assuming what Democrats think. Here is an example of his idiotic inconsistency. He said that Democrats wanted the U.S. to lose the war, not realizing that the half of the country that he's referring to have sons and daughters in the war. I don't know anyone in this country who want us to lose. Now he want's Obama to fail. If Obama fails, we all fail. Where is the logic. Of course, Rush's "logic" is extreme right wing lunacy. I'm sure he will recognize the last sentence which he applies to the left extremists.

pamella   January 26th, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Rick i think RUSH LImbaugh should take a hike and go fly a kite he is a nut case this man does not worth the ground that MR OBAMA WALKS ON Rush is a disgrace to the American people .

mike   January 26th, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Rick; you are giving Rush a heck of a lot more than he worth. I have been listening to rush since he started his career in Los Angeles. this guy never ever made a sense in what ever subjects he talks about. the man is absolutely nuts, just ask Tom Lycos, he'll tell you all about Rush.

Thanks Rick, keep up the good work on CNN and don't let a guy like rush disturbs you.

bobby boyd   January 26th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

rush linbaugh is a big blow hard who should be banned from radio/tv. he is the type person for the taliban. anyone who also pays him 30 million a year to spread his hattered of our goverment . the radio stations should also be banned fro his show on their airwys. he and hannity make me sick. if they know so dam much why are they not in washington and not just setting on the fence line and trying to make everyone think they are so smart. try them for treason like joe mc carthy was years ago. thanks.

David   January 26th, 2009 4:12 pm ET

Let's face it, Nothing would make Rush and Republicans happier than seeing our new president fail. The cowardly try to hide behind their political "phrases". But they would love to see this country crash and burn just so they can say "We were right" how sad. Republicans should try the whole Country First idea.. If they had there way Vice President Palin would be on top of the White House with binoculars trying to see France from her "new" house.. Thanks but no thanks.

Rick, if Obama wants to create jobs. Why doesn't he hire someone to oversee and account for the billions of dollars being injected into these big banks. And hire more people (anyone who can write) to track the billons that are supposed to go to the smaller banks. We are asked when we borrow money, whats it being used for. So when is this government going to wake up and track what these banks are using free tax dollars for. Until someone takes accountability ,its a sad state of affairs. And where are we heading.

GENE   January 26th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

Rick,

Today was the first time I saw your show. It is interesting how you include messages from Myspace, Facebook and others.

Your Exchange with Rush Limbaugh was interesting. I co-own and operate "OpenVegas" a myspace style Las Vegas web site.

It is worth pointing out that your "He said – You said" exchange is very much like the messages I have with our members. The only difference is you guys are TV personalities.. not faceless personalities on the Internet..

I'll post a message about a new feature for our site or a change coming up.. to get flack from some of our members. When I ask them questions.. Like you asked RUSH.. I get the exact same answer. Nadda.

It is interesting how Internet communication is changing the media landscape. And how similar certain "Personalities" react when confronted.

For me... I'm talking to some "Jerk" from small town nowhere.. that just discovered the Internet a couple of years ago. Where you are talking to a media professional. Yet the "Conversation" is still the same.

Thanks,

GENE

It is time to stop talking and start acting. These companies have got to be held accountable for their abuse of our money. We cannot allow these
ceo's to get away with purchasing a $50m airplane on our money.

We need to also hold our goverment accountable to get something done
about it. What can we do?

Why are we not requesting these so called banking moguls to return their 'bonuses' that were given over the years of bad management. I assumed that 'bonouses' were only given for performance. Confiscate their property, auction it off and put it back into the Taxpayers funds. After all, they deserve to be on the streets along with the rest of us?An IMF executive on BBC radio estimated back early last year that hey could recover some estimated $300 million from their bankers, surely USA's would be a lot more.
Also, while the UN tries to impeach Bush/Cheney, don't forget that slimy toad, Karl Rove & his cronies who blew the name of the CIA agent. We are at war, according to the ex president who reminded us so many times. In WW2 treasonous errors cost lots of lives & was quickly remedied by a firing squad. Egos in the last administration need to be treated similarly.
Keep kicking ass man, great show!

Linda Zirba   January 26th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

Citi Bank has just raised APR's for customers and they now spend 50 million on a plane...I take this as a personal slap in the face.
I think our government should set an example for all these companies when they misuse the funds awarded them and hold Citi Group accountable. They either need to set huge fines on these companies or they should take the money back. I know that would put a lot more people in the unemployment line but hopefully not for long if our President gets the new green economy up and going... with new jobs being created.

This just makes me sick ! I have a mortgage with the CitiBank group and called them 6 weeks ago to see what they can do on a refinance. Repeated calls to their office to find out a status and they always respond they are swamped and will have to get back to me.
How absurb is that ! Guess these crooks are too busy trying to figure out how to spend their new found federal dollars on themselves. They need a $50 miilion dollar plane like another bad debt ! Whoever is dolling out the $$$ to these shisters should demand a refund and just let them go under !

Authentic Savage   January 27th, 2009 4:03 am ET

Yes, you did quote Rush Limbaugh out of context. Fair is fair. Rush said that he wants the liberal media to say that he wants Obama to fail. In other words, he is putting words in the mouth of the liberal media, he is baiting the liberal media to claim that he said: "I want Obama to fail."

Technically, that is not the same thing as simply saying, with no reference to any third party (media or otherwise), with no reference to policy (fiscal liberalism or not): "I want Obama to fail."

Rush is saying that he wants Obama's policies to fail, so much so that he does not care if the media accuses him of saying: "I want Obama to fail."

If I say "Obama is not stupid," technically, I did just say, "Obama is stupid." I did say each of those words. But really, Rick.

In tennis, if I break your serve at love, it means you didn't score a single point on your serve. I played that well in breaking your serve. But technically, it also means that out of three break points (when I had you down at love-40) I converted just one of those break points. True, I broke you at the first break point, the first chance I got. I did'nt need the other two break points to get the job done. But the cold stat would still be: one out of three break points won, which sounds like I'm playing at a 33% success rate.

Again, Rick: play fair.

I am so sick and tired of these large companies who have taken our money (bailout money) and just blown it for their personal pleasures. Now, perhaps I may be ignorant but why can't the american people sue these companies to get our money back.....if not sue the companies directly, what about suing the federal government. We never gave our permission for them to spent our money. Simply put it's stealing. Anyone want to join me in this class action suit.

Tresa   January 27th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

Mr. Sanchez,
President Obama is not playing a game to get bipartisanship! Since when did governing the United States of American turn into a game? He is an intelligent president who is doing the job he was elected to do! Your kind of media is condescending and negative! It is not what this country needs.

Will the presidents plan to create jobs replace even the 70K jobs lost yesterday??? Building roads and rebuilding bridges.. come on there is only a select few that works in that industry. And yes I understand the trickle down deal and there will be supplies that they will buy but that is an even more selective industry.
What we need is for the rich people to invest in business An government to invest in the people.

Pelosi missed the bi-partisan lead of Pres. Obama. Just today she insinuated that since her party was elected into office it to her means they, Dems, ARE the will of the people. Just becuz I am Repub doesn't mean I always agree with Rush and I usually don't. The Dems don't always agree either and to do so is unhealthy. The Pres. should shake that woman out of her lofty attitude.

Hi Rick,

If these right wing talk show hosts want to endanger the life of the President. I hope there are not going to run and hide if there is a civil or racial war, f

They will have blood on their hands and they themselves along with their racist friends would be in danger.

Let us cut to the chase, they want "this President to fail" The leader (Rush) of the Republican party said it himself.

David Rees   February 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Well, it looks like the crooks are still there. No matter the clothing or name, the people we may elect still do not get the messsage. Pelosi and Reid tied up the congress for the last three years playing power games and politics showing more interest in discrediting the current administration instead of doing their work. Now, with what is called a crisis (I called this financial crisis overe 10 years ago), they are still not working in the American publics interest, but in their own. For what, POWER and the total destruction of America as it once was decades ago. Yes, all of this has not happened overnight, over the last eight years, but has been declining for decades with each generation losing more of their liberties and then applauding these legislators for taking them away. I cannot count the people I talk to about voting. People who complain their vote doesnot count. How can their interest and participation in the process be there if we continue to see more and more blantantly, acceptance of "indescretions" to out right contemt for the laws the rest of us are expected to obey. Dashcel made the right choice, finally. What took so long and what was his stimulation? What more may come out about him? When will the American public tire of all this bovine feces? What price (s) will we have to pay to finally, if it is at all possible now, to have our elected people actually serve for the best interest of the American public and not their own? So be it for now.

Mark in Alabama   February 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

I know what I am not missing.... the lack of respect all of a sudden since President Obama has been sworn in to the Office of President. Yep, that's President Obama not Barack Obama. Journalist and pundits alike didn't have any problem calling the previous office holder "President," but now the office warrants a familiarity that is unheard of historically. Rick Sanchez, as far as I know you are no friend of the current President, but you speak his first name on a regular basis as if you were. The lack of respect begins at home then will travel like a virus around the World, but wait a minute.... it seems that everywhere else refers to President Obama as just that.... President. CNN, you should light the path for other new networks and not continue to represent yoursel poorly like "fox propaganda" does daily. Let's see some backbone, as well as a great deal of respect for our President Obama. Thank you.

Phil Horne   February 3rd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Rick,

I saw your story on the Wells Fargo Junket to Vegas a few minutes ago. Please read my letter to the Wells Fargo CEO listed below:

John Stumpf, CEO
Wells Fargo Financial
420 Montgomery Street
San Francisco, CA 94104

Dear Mr. Stumpf,

My wife and I have a mortgage with your company. This letter is to notify you of the threats and abuse we have experienced from employees of your company.

Three months ago my company, Schering-Plough, downsized. I was laid off. Consequently, my wife and I called Wells Fargo Financial a combined eight times asking for assistance during a difficult time.

We received no help. Instead, my wife in particular was threatened with foreclosure and verbally abused about not being able to afford our house. We tried over and over to explain the situation was temporary. The response from your company never changed.

In addition, we received qualification for refinance from another mortgage company two months ago. We wanted rid of Wells Fargo. The interest rate is almost two points lower than what we currently have with you!

At this time we discovered your company added a substantial penalty to our loan for early payment. I would never agree to these terms had I known. Wells Fargo Financial has us trapped.

Your company, in addition to the verbal abuse, charged us an extra $500.00 in interest for the late payments we had to make in November and December of last year. We were asking for help and received a kick in the teeth. Wells Fargo made life more difficult during an already difficult time.

I have since gained employment and we are current on our home loan. However, we want to refinance our loan and away from Wells Fargo Financial. I am asking you to wave the penalty for early payment (mortgage loan # ********). It is the least you can do.

Last, today is January 31, 2009. I have called Wells Fargo Financial twice asking for my interest paid in 2008. I was told “by law” you have until January 31 to deliver the document. I was told to wait. Nothing from Wells Fargo Financial came today. So much for the law.

We cannot file our taxes and receive our anticipated refund to pay credit cards used during my unemployment until we know this number. Once again, Wells Fargo has found a way to put progress on hold.

Please let us go!

Sincerely,

Phil Horne

No more money to the banks! This is getting ridiculous.

Danny   February 3rd, 2009 3:32 pm ET

Rick, Most of the time you look a little harder than this. But this time you slipped. Wells Fargo didn't ask for that money. Ans as reported by CNN as well sevralother reports they seem to be the only bank in America that needed it.

Richard J. Krausz   February 3rd, 2009 3:36 pm ET

Dear Rick-I just witnessed your interview with the Republican senator from Oklahoma(?). Hopefully, Guantanamo Bay employees do not refer to hardcore terrorists as "Muhammads." Muhammad, of course is the main prophet of Islam and it would be quite insulting to use such a term. Obviously, the senator is really is out of touch and needs to do some study if not some sensitivity traing. As a Christian I would find it abhorrent to hear someone refer to a Christian terrorist or criminal as a "Jesus."

Could it be that Sen. Daschle withdrew because revelation of the source of the income he owes taxes on, would be so damaging that he would be forever tainted? Does anybody know the extent of corruption in the U.S, Government? Huh? Huh?

888Billion?
When the approx population is only 300 million, why not give every legal person 1 million dollars with requirement to pay off all debt. After that is done, spend the rest how-ever you want. Now this would stimulate the economy reallllllly quickly and the would be no bank problems with bad loans, no creditcard problems, all debt would be paid off except for a few that owe more that a million.
Is this too easy for the congress to get?

Valeria7   February 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

I'm surprised no-one wonders if the reason Daschle and others may be 'opting out", for relatively small offences, is because they don't want more investigation into possible whole skeletons falling out of their closets..

darlene   February 3rd, 2009 4:02 pm ET

I sure do wish I could turn on the news without having to hear EVERYBODY'S opinion about EVERYTHING....who's really interested in opinion......how about some facts for a change. By the time everybody discusses what they think about a subject or a person, the facts are somewhere hidden in "TRUTH-LAND" and we wind up judging people and situations based on what he said and she said......who are all these people (including you news casters) that make themselves opinion gurus? No wonder the world in in FRENZY. Somebody please, if possible, take a breath, turn off the TV; sit down and read a good book!

Chinda (pronounce Ginda) Douangmala   February 3rd, 2009 4:33 pm ET

Hi Rick,
Since everybody is having a hard time agreeing what to spend the stimulus package on, I have a proposal. Give two hundred thousand dollars to 2007 tax payers in the United States and that will help about 140,000,000 people (that's about how many people filed taxes last year) get back on their feet from unemployment, build homes, and will help the foreclosure problems. Other people who do not need the money can donate it, save it, or give it away, I don't care what they will do with it . But, for people like me, it will help me pay for my mortgage and put me through graduate school of nursing. Simple minded? I know, and maybe that is what we need right now to stimulate the economy. I know I will spend it and if we don't have mortgage debts we will certainly spend our income from work on something else which will also help stimulate the economy. It costs so much less (not even $140,000,000) than what is being passed and debated on right now. Sometimes simplicity is what we all need.

Sincerely,

Chinda Douangmala
