Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Talks To Rick About Obama's Environmental Intentions

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has ideas about which direction America should be headed regarding energy and environmental policy.

He's talked it over with President Obama, he's written extensively on the subject, and now lays it out for Rick Sanchez.

One question they bring up: Can we change environmental policy during times of economic hardship?

The answer may surprise you.

Hey Rick why dont you do a story about how Barack Obama stole the phrase "Yes We Can" from the UFW and from a true civil rights leader hero Cesar Chavez.
Not once did Obama even mention in his name or give him credit. Si Su Puede Rick.

Kiran Mandava Atlanta,GA   January 22nd, 2009 1:38 pm ET

No. It's like digging the well to put off the house on fire. The urgent need to escape from foreign oil is offshore, tap wind and solar power.

Mike Joseph   January 22nd, 2009 2:01 pm ET

Hey Rick, your spin on the Rush Limbaugh story is a disgrace. He stated that if it is Obama's agenda is to create a United States of America in which the Government controls everything, then yes he does hope Obama fails. He also stated, that if it is Obama's agenda to cut taxes in order for the market to correct itself, the he would hope he succeeds. It was not a statement about the man, it was a statement about POLICY! It is amazing a man of your intelligence can not tell the difference!!!! Or could it be, you don't want to report the truth???? That will be for you to answer!

Respectfully,

Mike

Judy Smith   January 22nd, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Watched the President and Secretary of State talk about our new path in international affairs. How positive and uplifting! So different from the hate mongering and anti-American comments spouted by Rush Limbaugh on Fox.

Mike Joseph must have been brainwashed by the Fox news network whose coverage and spins on any news that disagrees with them defy gravity and taste.

I realize that talking about what will happen to the prisoners at gitmo, in the coming year and more, however, I feel you are jumping the gun in already trying to guess what the president and his staff will come up with, and I also realize that this commentary provides editorial for your airtime.

JDoe   January 22nd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Rick, I second what the the other gentleman said about fifteen being the real bad guys and the rest were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I quit Gitmo after two months once I saw what we were doing to the tax payers.

And yes, there was torture because I saw it first hand in Afghanistan.

Anthony   January 22nd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

If you say that we did torture then you must also have to punish those who did.I'm sick of Bush and Cheney getting a pass on this.Lock them up!If Obama doesn't lock them up or at least try then he'll be setting it up for torture to be used on our troops with a blind-eye turned to it!

jeanne obrien   January 22nd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Rick Sanchez:

The President has said we will not torture. The President and his nominee for Attorney General have stated that waterboarding is torture. Dick Cheney has admitted that prisoners were subjected to waterboarding. What exactly would you like the President to say?

chenna   January 22nd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

As prisons are everywhere, why we need to open special prison and get bad reputaion throught out the world. closing this G-bay is good idea.
Special envoys to the troubled regions is a welcome step from the civilized countries, and a warning signal for the uncivilized ones.

Great start Mr.President Obama!!!

JAN IN NM   January 23rd, 2009 2:26 am ET

Rick,
Just wondering...when do you and CNN start telling us about all the earmarks that Congress has attached to the stimulus package to the tune of 400 million dollars. Now that is NEWS. Also which of our elected representatives we can tar and feather because that is our money. Just wondering...

jorge   January 23rd, 2009 3:27 pm ET

Blazing Saddle??? Quote. "Let's give him a fair trial, then we'll hang 'em." He forgot "We don't need no stinking badges".

P Garrett   January 23rd, 2009 3:35 pm ET

Blago was not worth the wait.

Michele   January 23rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Rick..you can do better than this clown! I'm so over him and his lame wife who just got fired!
Come on now..she was making $100k+ a year as a Fund Raiser for a Homeless shelter?? PUHLEEZE...
He needs to just fade away quietly...if he's clean we'll all find out and we can apologize later..deal?

Jack Murray   January 23rd, 2009 4:02 pm ET

Rick,

Rush is the worst American I've ever heard on radio. He spumes out messages of hate, and posions the minds of many good Americans in a time when we should all be coming together for the future of America. I feel the sponsers should drop out of supporting his progam. I for one, wil not be using any of their products.
John Murray

Rick Sciba   January 26th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Hey Rick it is time to stop paying Rush Limbaugh, any type of credence or attention, I believe if he continues to lie and /or decieve his so called dedicated listeners, he will finally fade away into oblivion, and we will no longer be bothered by his boring ridiculous outrageous comments that he so desiresand needs....

Marilyn   January 29th, 2009 3:09 pm ET

I don't want anyone to be fired from their position, especially now,
but I guess Blago asked for it.

Mimi   January 30th, 2009 3:23 pm ET

I think it is outrageous to have a doctor implant 8 follicles in this 33 yr. old woman. She already have 6 children. She's is tired of working and supporting her brood so why not make more and live off on welfare all her life and hoping that large companies will provide diapers, formula ,van etc for life. Maybe college funds for these children who knows what else she is trying to accomplish on top of being a world wide news maker. How pathetic!!!

Elaine Danelutti   January 30th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

What I want to know is - How did the woman who had eight babies pay for the fertility procedures? It is not covered by insurance. Isn't it expensive?

Elaine from Pennsylvania

mb55   January 30th, 2009 3:53 pm ET

I hear all the politicains talking about helping the people why are't they giving the people the money like 25k to give them a relief then they can waste time trying to put that other 800B. And on the President Obama issue of money to paychecks what about the people who don't receive paychecks, who is on unemployment benefits.!!!!!

jim   January 30th, 2009 3:53 pm ET

How can we believe that our CEOs are going to help our Economy when IBM CEO is saying to the president that he will help create jobs after he had record profits last year and is laying tens of thousands people off in the USA and moving jobs overseas on the same day.

Terry   January 30th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

I noticed there were several references made to President Obama meeting with CEOs of different companies around the U.S. to discuss job creation, ethics and what not. Is there any chance he's doing anything to twist the arms of the larger companies to bring back all of the jobs they've sent to India, South America, Malaysia, etc??? Many of those were skilled positions but so many more were not (ie: call centers). It seems tens if not hundreds of thousands of jobs could be regained if it were "worth" ($$$$) IBM's, Dell's, H.P.'s, Microsoft's, etc., effort to bring them back.

Suzie   January 30th, 2009 6:20 pm ET

I deepely believe that yes we can change the economy with increasing the opportunity for environnemental busness.
I guess that M. Obama will go to this conclusion anyway.
