Blagojevich/Obama

Who Was In Contact With Whom?

From T.J. Holmes

Something I want you to take note of: This week we will learn the results of President-elect Obama's internal investigation.

We expect to find out who in Obama's office was in contact with the office of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich about filling the President-elect's senate seat.

It's a report two weeks in the making.

Specifically, we anticipate more details about Rahm Emanuel's role. Remember, the Chief of Staff was the first person to be named to the new Obama administration. Did he throw his weight around? We'll find out soon.

(ed.: That report has been released. Read about it here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/23/obama.gov.report/index.html)

Some say this investigation is "much ado about nothing." Others will tell you it's a necessity, to clear the air, as a new president takes office. A new president who brings with him some longtime political veterans from Chicago, a city fraught with a history of corruption.

A new CNN-Opinion Research poll asked what you think about the contact between Obama and Blagojevich's teams.

12% believe it was illegal.
36% believe it was unethical.
and 43% say there was nothing wrong at all.

It's that 36 percent that may be the most problematic figure on the board.

If that's the public perception before any official report is released, the President-elect may have an image problem to address.

Obama and deceit go hand in hand!

Deceit as a candidate concerning his background.

Deceit as President Elect with his involvement with Blagojevich. HIS people investigatting THIER actions.....and reporting THIER results. And Obama promised answers 2 weeks ago, then last week then this week.

That give him time to run off to Hawaii on vacation and not here to face the questions that should be asked!!!!!

Where is the media!!!!!

Will there be Deceit as President.

I think so. The deceit program is running wild!!!!!!!!!

Wake up!

I take the DA's opinon and Mr. Obama's statements as the last word in the absence of anything tangible that says otherwise. Of course these Illinoian politicians speak to one another but that does not add up to conivance, complicity, or conspiracy. Further, I don't care what Obama wore on the beach and I think is petty to complain about who delivers the invocation at the inauguration. "What fools these mortals be."

Rich, the media have over blown this Blagojevich issue, as such, it has lost the tempo, the consequences that will follow is all those shouting hues and cries will be disappointed because things will hardly change. The Press should step back a bit.

How could an experienced news person like Roland Martin be taken in by such a cynical humiliating manipulative senatorial appointment? How could an experienced politician like Roland Burris (who just recently openly criticized Blagojevich and who probably wasn't even on the top five list) allow himself to be a prop in Blago's theatrics?
Why are we not able to rid ourselves of that Blago troll?

Jamai Haquani   December 31st, 2008 3:41 pm ET

All I can say is this IL. Gov. is got a Game! He is obiviously tying to save his own bacon. His latest move is to gain support , he knows he is going to jail. What would anyone do in his shoe?

Marcus Ismael   December 31st, 2008 3:55 pm ET

What in the world Blago!? Naming Barack's replacement- UNDER DEFIANCE- dang you just don't get it do you? This is becoming more and more twisted like the politician you are rod!!!

Darrell   December 31st, 2008 4:41 pm ET

This arrogant, cocky, belligerent, over confident governor is pushing everyone's confidence in our Constitutional system. Everyone knows he's accused of trying to sell Senator Obama's senate seat, and he's been warned not to make an appointment..............yet he does as he pleases and is getting away with it, ignoring all warnings, all ethics, and all advice by more seasoned politicians. Has this man showed us how corrupt and how there's two sets of laws in our U.S. Constitution ?? Is he showing us the rich or big kahuna's in government can do anything and not worry about consequences ?? I know he sure isn't worried, and if the Senate, congress, or high politicians don't quit holding meetings and doing nothing...........then this guy just might run for re-election and win. His ethics makes me ashamed of our judicial system................why is it, this man commits a MAJOR FELONY and doesn't get arrested and held, but some guy jay walking if the police want to hold him for something, is arrested and held ?? Two laws, huh ?? Makes about as much sense as the Electorial College.................the people don't elect presidents, the electorial college does. They don't even have to vote for who the people want..............................real democratic, huh ????

Attorney General Roland Burris and deathrow: Orlando Cruz; check 60 Minutes.

Bo   January 4th, 2009 6:24 pm ET

Why won't you people tell the truth about Burris. You only mentioned once that he is a lobbyist, when the news first came out that Blagoyevich nominated him. Why won't you let the people in on this important fact. The last thing that we need is to have a lobbbyist in the senate

alani2   January 5th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

I do not believe that Burris should be seated. I am sure he is qualified, but no self respecting politician should hook there wagon to Ilinois Governor. Besides the people of Chicago deserve a Senator that is not embroiled in controversy. Burris appears to have the same arrogant attitude that Blagojevich has. What they are doing is paving the way for someone like (God forbid), Allen Keyes to slip in.

alani2   January 5th, 2009 3:26 pm ET

I guess if you dig hard enough you will finally find some drama with Obama. As a Senator from Ilinois, it was part of his duties to deal with the Governor, and that is what he did. You can look back over any conversation, and twist it to your liking. I wish that the media would stop trying to create drama where there is none.

Sylvia Fierro   January 5th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Burris is all kinds of crazy... NO means NO!

berio   January 5th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

It would have been alot more fun if the governor had selected Rev. Wright to fill the senate seat....

Wade   January 5th, 2009 3:40 pm ET

This has nothing to do with black or white, how could you say, something to the effect of: "how could a bunch of white guys in washington stop a black man from becoming a senator"

Such comments are mindless, attention grabbing fluff and you know it. And I like CNN, but what you said sounds like FOX and Daytime TV.

This has nothing to do with black or white nor does it have to do with the fact that the Pres-Elect is Black.

The fact is choice: should he take the job knowing he would always be under a cloud, whether or not it is true, since we don't know or should he step aside and hold to the people's trust?

That's it.

I think, if they can PROVE of no wrong doing, then sure take the job.
If you can't, I would suggest not since it would be something he would never be able to totally get out from under-then again, maybe he wouldn't care. I think however, that wouldn't be in the PEOPLE's best interest.

Just plz, no more Black/White. These aren't the issues and you only blurr the issues by using such empty, thoughtless, comments...regardless if that's what gets your raitings or not, this isn't a TV show, its the NEWS.

Keith   January 5th, 2009 3:41 pm ET

Apparently Burris does not understand that public opinion is against him on this one.....I could not believe that he would accept this appointment, nor could I believe how he was grinning like the proverbial cat that swallowed the canary at the press conference announcing his appointment. Even if he goes to court and a judge eventually orders that his appoointment be confirmed and allowed to take his seat in the Senate, he will be dogged by the controversy of being appointed by a corrupt governor that tried to sell his seat. Something else I don't believe Burris understands....his appointment may indeed be eventually found to be legal, but legal does not always mean something is morally right. I cannot believe that someone with an apparently stellar career would want to be associated in any way shape or form with such an arrogant, corrupt, morally bankrupt politican such as Blagojevich.

Alan Thornton   January 5th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

If Gov Blagojevich can't appoint a senator to represent Illinois, as per the state's constitution, does that mean he should not be allowed to sign important bills passed by the state legislature? Give me a break.

Leroy   January 6th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Governor Blagojevich needed a mentor to show him how the system works. If he would have appointed who the system wanted appointed to replace Obama as a Senator from Illinois he would have gotten everything he wanted, more money, better job for his wife, higher speaking-fees etc. The mentor would have told him not to say anything, things just happen, favors get repaid and everyone maintains plausible deniability.

Don't think so? Look at the employment history of Obama and his wife and see how Mrs Obama was given better jobs just because she was married to the "Community Organizer." See how he progressed and all with plausible deniability.

Obamas are not the only ones they are just part of the system where favors get repaid people get rich all with plausible deniability.

Bill Clinton, ex-President worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Mrs Bill Clinton worth millions of dollars just because, when there is room, she sleeps Bill's bed. Senators and Representatives, members of the President's cabinet, ex-presidential advisers all multi-millionaires and don't forget Bush avoiding serving in the Guard. All with plausible deniability.

Governor Blagojevich could have had it all if he would have maintained silence. As Forrest says, "Stupid is, as stupid does." His mistake was he said it out loud but in the end he has done nothing illegal. He has brought to light how politics works and just how unethical, immoral, and dishonest they are...

Dear Rick

What a pleasure hearing a news commentator who is willing to speak from his heart from time to time as opposed to only from the mind. When humans learn to combine intellect with love, we will begin thinking vertically [with depth] as opposed to horizontally [or shallow]. In truth, intellect devoid of love results in intelligence working on behalf of insanity [most call it the devil].

When you spoke last week of the love you felt for your children it was inspiring, as those thoughts were coming straight from your heart and any sane parent feels the same way about their children.

What we fail to realize however is that it is not the children themsleves that we love–it is the actual love that is contained within the children that we are attracted to and so desperately crave as a species. The body after all is simply dirt and water that have been animated by an energy so miraculous that we have not even touched its surface–and that energy is pure or divine love. –which is what we all are–the essence of love. Only the mind is unaware of it because the mind cannont experience love–it can only theorize about it.

Love like sine waves cannot be grasped physically however, it can only be felt–and we are beings with and of feelings are we not? The problem we all face is that we are living in a world driven by fear–or a world of opposites or duality.

As far as the debate over God is concerned–why would God create us all only to then brutalize, torture and divide us? Only confused human minds would dos such a thing. After alll, were we thinking those types of discursive thoughts when we arrived on earth and will we be thinking them when we are gone?

If God had even a single bias there would be no hope for any of us as God would be just another ego. God is the invisible essence of divine love who has no need to think along the lines we do–God only creates which does not require thinking. As a matter of fact, thinking is a result of not knowing and knowing eliminates the need for thinking. He who speaks does not know and he who knows does not speak–which is why silence is golden–it requires no thought.

The Bilbe says we were created in Gods' image–the probelm is we keep trying to re-create him in our physical image as if he were like us. He may love us but he does not think like us because God does not think–he only creates and loves which is the only way we can complete ourselves as fear is the great separator.

Pure love is the only energy that vibrates and flows on a continuous basis and when we discover who we really are [beyond our given names] we will never view life from the same perspective as we now do. The biggest discovery humanity will ever make is when we learn that we have been programmed insanely and you did not program yourself.

Yet until we can see clearly and open up to this–it will remain hidden and we'll keep spinnning around in circles making fear based instead of love based decisions in life–and we will continue to suffer terribly.

People like Hitler and Bush in truth do us favors as they pull up dirt that lurks below the surface of life and when we see it and don't like it we change it. If we never saw the dirt how could we ever clean it up? We are alive to open ourselves up and let our inner light out as nothing can be hidden in the openness of light–only when hidden in shadows is the truth a mystery.

By the way, true leaders do so with pure love and never with fear. In an interconnected reality like ours is, the only defence that will ever work is no defense at all because any defense that attacks another is already attacking you. The same goes for control in an interconnected world. As soon as I attempt to control another, i have already lost my own freedom.

One day we will know of duality, interconnectedness, attractor energy fields, masculine/feminine energy, vibratory evolution, multi generational negative programming and most especially the total healing power contained within pure love–which is who and what we are.

Thanks for having the courage to speak from the the heart Richard–it is what our world lacks and is why we see one another as different when in truth we are all brothers.

We love you inconditionally.

P.S.–These are just a couple ideas that motor around in my pea brain–if you ever wish to discuss them it would honor me [though I realize the likelihood is low to nil with your schedule]. There is no hidden agenda as fame, money and prestige hold no interest for me–only sharing everything with everyone as God does captures my heart. Thanks again.

rick you have got to be kidding me who is this jerk security anylist with you he doing exactly what a cop would do stick up for his buddies and not for the people being mistreated by the police...i honestly think the cops get a kick out of doing these things to people...it seems when it comes to these situations the cops come out clean no matter what

Rick,
Being a constitutional law Lecturer,President Elect, Barack Obama, should have known better, not to rush initially in joining the Democratic leaders to" deny " the appointment of the junior senetor of illinios, Roland Burris, Who by all indication is likely to be his replacement.

Rick, CONGRATULATIONS on your new show!
Finally a great and decent show!
So glad that CNN got rid off that hate-monger-clown of Beck. Now, if you could do the same with that biggot of Dobbs . . .

Anyhow, I want to make some comments about:
The Drug on Wars: Legalization is NOT the solution. STOP the demand and the supply will dry out. Mexico is paying a bloody price because of the huge U.S. Demand for drugs. Legalization is NOT the solution, education against drug use and its devastating consequences is.

I ask the media and the schools to show our youth pictures and videos of the masacres and decapitations that are taken place in Mexico; and we all should show our children that "this is what happens when you mess with drugs" -

Bailout 2008, a poem by David Jeffrey

Like a bloodied warrior,
laying broken and torn.

Like a dying soldier, hopeless and forlorn.

But the blood, it be green,
the color of money.

And the soldier is an economy,
and it is anything but funny.

Broken are it's people and shattered are their dreams.

Thanks to the ultra rich and their full proof schemes.

It is a tragedy with more pain to come.

Finance will be Hell, and their wills will be done.

Ann K.   January 23rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Let him have a fair trial! Why is the Senate rushing it? Why not give him a trial? I don't believe he acted alone. Why is the media not investigating? Why are they part of the political witch hunt? Who cares if you like the governor? Let's hear the entire story. It seems to me the media and the Senate is afraid because it goes to the top of Obama's administration. Regardless, if he's guilty, the rules need to be changed. Isn't this America? Doesn't everyone have the right to a trial?

Pat Cox   January 29th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Illinois lawmakers beware. Impeaching Blago with only the word of a zealous prosecutor, without a full trial, is setting a precedent that could happen to any of them. As a lifelong Illinoisan, I'm ashamed of the entire spectacle.

OUR DOGS, a poem by David Jeffrey from Canada

A love uncontested, without compromise,

is what we see when we look into our lovely pets
eyes.

The way they adore us, with love to no end,

is the reason we call them Man's best friend.

With tails a wagging and affection to spare,

makes them so easy to cuddle despite all their hair.

We treat them like children and adorn them with toys

trust that they will play and protect,

our own girls and boys.

God gave us dogs so that we may know,

the unconditional love,

that only a pet can show.
