We've heard from lots of reporters, spokespeople and analysts, but here's real people living amid the conflict in and around Gaza telling us what it's really like. Filed under: Clips From The Show Posted: 01:32 PM ET
There's one more thing we want to take note of. This one deals with a website we use -every day- on this program. Facebook. They have decided they will no longer allow photos of women who are breast-feeding to appear on user profiles. And you know what we've noticed? This is not sitting well with many people, including nursing mothers, who- by the way as I learned from my own experience with my wife and our four pregnancies- can be stretched thin hormonally while pregnant. .. And would probably argue they don't need a company policy, probably written by men, to tell them what they should and shouldn't do. Now, say what you want- the issue of public breast-feeding has long been debated, and there have been plenty of good arguments over the years. But now in this age of interconnectivity, this issue becomes even more complex. Facebook says they have a corporate standard of conduct. And as a user, you're compelled to follow it. We checked, here's their posted guideline: "you may not post or share content that is obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit , depicts graphic or gratuitous violence, makes threats of any kind or that intimidates, harasses, or bullies anyone, is derogatory, demeaning, malicious, defamatory, abusive, offensive or hateful."
OK, you know what's coming right? Does a photo of a woman breast-feeding fit that explanation… obscene? sexually explicit? bullying? demeaning? Just asking? What do you think?

Big coverage of the Israeli offensive in Gaza. Had a fascinating conversation with Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gabriela Shalev as well as a former spokeswoman for the PLO, Diana Buttu. No easy solutions here. Take a listen to the very good points brought up by both. Filed under: Clips From The Show Posted: 04:01 PM ET
There's something else I want you to take note of today. This one is for all of you who feel like you've been taken for granted by your boss. Let's take it a step further, that boss fires you, how do you prove him wrong? Yesterday, we got the answer. You keep your head up, and you prove him wrong. This is one of those stories that transcends sports. Chad Pennington was cut by New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini. He wasn't good enough anymore, they wanted a big name, so they signed Brett Farve. Pennington didn't cry, didn't complain and didn't name call. Instead he went to play for a respectable, but horrible competitor at the time, the Miami Dolphins, the worst team in football. What a difference a year makes. Yesterday Pennington played against the team that threw him away, the team with the famous quarterback. Guess who won? Pennington and the Dolphins! Guess who's going to the playoffs? Pennington and the Dolphins! Guess who's staying home? The New York Jets. One more question: guess who just lost his job? Head coach Eric Mangini, who got rid of Pennington, was fired today. Pennington proved his boss wrong. And today even New Yorkers would agree, he did it the right way, the old-fashioned way. And so it goes.

No, This Is *Not* Part Of Boxing Day From T.J. Holmes The leftovers are cold, the presents are opened, and you've already made that trip to the store for the batteries Santa forgot to bring. Anything else signal it's December 26th to you? Well, if we were all in Great Britain or Canada or Australia, we'd be marking Boxing Day. Traditionally, that's when the wealthy thanked their servants with gifts. But over the years, Boxing Day became synonymous with charitable giving. I know what you're thinking: That's nice if you can afford it in times like these, right? Think of it this way: sometimes the greatest charity we can provide isn't anything that would fit in a box anyway. It's our time. So let us all pause on this Boxing Day, to think of something we can do for our neighbors in need. Lord knows you see enough stories on the news every day about people who could use a helping hand. Who Was In Contact With Whom? From T.J. Holmes Something I want you to take note of: This week we will learn the results of President-elect Obama's internal investigation. We expect to find out who in Obama's office was in contact with the office of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich about filling the President-elect's senate seat. It's a report two weeks in the making. Specifically, we anticipate more details about Rahm Emanuel's role. Remember, the Chief of Staff was the first person to be named to the new Obama administration. Did he throw his weight around? We'll find out soon. (ed.: That report has been released. Read about it here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/23/obama.gov.report/index.html) Some say this investigation is "much ado about nothing." Others will tell you it's a necessity, to clear the air, as a new president takes office. A new president who brings with him some longtime political veterans from Chicago, a city fraught with a history of corruption. A new CNN-Opinion Research poll asked what you think about the contact between Obama and Blagojevich's teams. 12% believe it was illegal. It's that 36 percent that may be the most problematic figure on the board. If that's the public perception before any official report is released, the President-elect may have an image problem to address. Filed under: Rick's Interstitials December 22, 2008

Michael Who? Vick? Doesn't Ring A Bell... From T.J. Holmes You remember Michael Vick? A year ago this month, he had just been sentenced to 23 months in prison after pleading guilty to federal dogfighting charges. A year ago this month, the city of Atlanta was divided about his guilt or innocence, even divided over whether race played a factor in his treatment by the NFL, by his team, and by the media. A year ago this month, Bobby Petrino, the then first-year head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, quit with three games left in the season to take a job at my alma mater, the University of Arkansas. A year ago this month, the Atlanta Falcons had a record of 3-11. Move forward to April of this year. The falcons pick a quarterback at number 3 in the draft. Some questioned the move and the money they paid him: $72 million. Now move forward to today. The Atlanta Falcons have a record of 10-5, and have clinched a spot in the playoffs. Their quarterback, Matt Ryan is a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year and becoming a frontrunner for league MVP. If you were a Falcons fan, would you remember Michael Vick? President-elect Barack Obama has selected Pastor Rick Warren to offer the invocation at January's historic inauguration ceremony. Was that a popular decision? Ohhhh, no. Groups that supported Obama during the campaign say Warren is intolerant, exclusive, and not deserving of such a stage and such an honor. Warren says he's honored to be selected, and Obama (who openly disagrees with Warren on a range of issues) defends his choice, and is showing that he's willing to take flak from the left by associating with a popular conservative and religious figure. We want to know what you think, but watch this clip : Rick talks with Jane Hamsher of the popular blog firedoglake.com. At issue: Rick Warren, Barack Obama, and the bridging of a very large divide.
