eHarmonious?

eHarmony to expand

From TJ Holmes

eHarmony is expanding. Actually…they're being forced to expand.

You may have heard that the popular online dating site was sued by a gay man in New Jersey. He claimed the site discriminated because they wouldn't provide him with a same sex match.

See a CNN.com report on the case here.

eHarmony decided to settle, and has now agreed to set up Compatible Partners, a dating service for same-sex couples. eHarmony will pay $50,000 to the N.J. division on civil rights and $5,000 to the man who filed the complaint.

But what this case does now is open up a whole new world of possibilities and consequences.

There are dating web sites that cater to Black people. Can someone sue because they won't be matched with a white guy or gal? There are dating web sites for Jewish people. Can someone sue because they won't be matched with a Christian? Or other religion? And yes, there are even sites dedicated to gays and lesbians. Can a heterosexual now sue those sites for not providing them a straight match?

Beyond that, can you now sue a steakhouse if they don't have chicken on the menu? Can a woman who wears a size 2 sue Lane Bryant because nothing in their store fits her?

Can I sue a Lamborghini dealership because they don't offer an affordable, 4-door alternative to the Murcielago?

We'll see...

Pres. Bush et al at the G20

Several blogs have picked up on a revealing piece of video I shared with you yesterday. It shows the President of the United States getting the cold shoulder at last weekend's G20 meeting.

The Moderate Voice calls it a piece of "captured-on-video history that is likely to be run in every video bio dealing with Bush's last days. It is undeniable: he is there but makes others uneasy."

In fairness, the White House says President Bush had already shaken hands with the other world leaders the day before.

Other blogs – from both ends of the political spectrum – cited my interview with Wichita pastor Mark Holick about the sign in front of his church. It refers to President-elect Barack Obama, calling him a Muslim. (Scroll down a bit to see and hear that interview in its entirety)

We found this blog especially interesting, though:

Christian Parenting Daily credits this program with bringing that church marquee to its attention, and suggests all Christian parents use that segment as a conversation starter with their older kids.

The blog cites several Bible verses on leaders and contemporaries of Jesus Christ, and suggests parents "have a great discussion, and remember it's better and more effective to help your kids think through the issues critically and Biblically than it is tell them how to think."

And just so you know, that's exactly what we aim to do right here, every day: spark a conversation.

You may recall we reported yesterday that a church sign in Kansas read the following: "America we have a Muslim president. This is a sin against the Lord."

The Newswriter says she was "impressed to see someone on one of the Big Bad Media Outlets actually call this religious B.S. ignorance." Newswriter is an anonymous liberal blogger, and by the way, Pastor Mark Holick will be my guest tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3:30 EST, so I'll get the chance to ask him about this.

Evo Morales

Bolivian Pres. Evo Morales

Then there's Evo Morales, his people aren't even taking our calls right now. I told his chief of staff I would ask the Bolivian president about the leftist tilt in Latin America, and his own leftist leanings.

You see, I was born in a country that moved so far to the left, the government ended up controlling everything, including the press. How could I, as a journalist, not ask Evo Morales respectful but tough questions about this? How could he not explain to Americans what his vision is, allay their fears?

Or did he just confirm them?

President Morales, your move, the invitation remains open.
